JOHOR BARU: A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly making a derogatory statement on social media against the daughter of the Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
Johor police chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the man, 26, was arrested in Wakaf Baru, Kota Baru, Kelantan at 11am yesterday.
Police also seized a SIM card that was believed to have been used to upload the statement from the suspect.
“The arrest was made following a police report we received on September 29, 2016 about a statement on Facebook regarding the status of the daughter of Tunku Ismail,” said Najmuddin.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.
