We’d say the V8 represents a quantum leap for scooters with removable batteries. With one pack attached to the stem (that can be removed) and another housed in the deck, this model redefines what is possible. It’s a scooter geared in every way for maximum range, which will delight riders who are looking for an everyday option they can rely on.
Why We Recommend It:
The V8 comes with a charging dock for your stem battery, as well as two charging adaptors, meaning both your batteries can be recharged together in as little as 4 hours. And there’s always the option of purchasing a spare, too.
It also ups the ante on the X7 Pro by harnessing a 450W motor, which, though it delivers the same top speed of 20 mph, carries the extra power needed to accelerate up to top speeds much faster.
Like its stablemate, the Turboant V8 can be enjoyed in one of three riding modes: Eco limits the scooter’s speed to 6 mph so that you can prolong battery life; Comfort increases the speed to 9 mph and provides a good middle ground between performance and battery usage; and Sport removes the shackles entirely, allowing you to push the V8 to its max.
And if all of this isn’t enough to send you scampering to the bank, the V8 comes equipped with dual spring suspension at the rear. This is a marked improvement on the X7 Pro, and for that fact, all of Turboant’s other models that rely solely on large air-filled tires to absorb shocks from the road. Instead, the Turboant V8 utilizes both its tires and suspension to deliver a more well-rounded shock-absorbing profile, making it a great choice for urban terrain.
As the alpha in the Turboant scooter line, you’d expect the V8 to come up trumps in terms of portability. At 48 lbs it isn’t the lightest model around, but it can be lifted in short bursts and, thanks to its simple 3-second folding mechanism, it can easily be stowed in a car or under your desk.
Another area of improvement on the X7 Pro is the wider 19.5-inch handlebars (vs 16.5 inches). This bigger profile makes a tangible difference when it comes to handling and maneuverability. However, the X7 Pro does have height on its side with handlebars that measure 49.2 inches vs the V8’s 45.5 inches. Consequently, we recommend the X7 Pro over the V8 for tall riders.
As for the V8’s build quality, I was, at first, apprehensive. I wasn’t the biggest fan of its bulky, geometric design, but with the robust aluminum-alloy frame and roomy, grippy deck providing that all-important sense of stability, it can certainly withstand wear and tear. Fortified with an IP54 water-resistance rating, you can have confidence in the scooter’s ability to perform in light showers, too – just steer clear of deep puddles.
Being the city-slicker that it is, the V8 needs to be able to handle hills. Steeper gradients slow you down, but the V8 can summit most gradual city inclines without a hitch.
Safety is supplied via the dual braking system. The hand-levered disc brake is the primary means of stopping and is backed up by an electronic brake. Together, they’re an effective duo and have the appropriate amount of stopping power for the 450W motor.
Something we haven’t seen on prior Turboant models is that the LCD display is responsive to your input. When you pull on the brakes, the display will light up four bars – each representing a greater intensity of strength. For instance, if you pull on the brakes lightly, only one bar will appear vs all four bars once you squeeze the brake lever to its max. The same interaction can be seen from the pressure applied to the accelerator.
In addition to its responsive functions, the LCD display is home to all your core stats. Through it, you can manage your riding modes, cruise control, and the status of the lights. However, the only disappointing thing is that the display isn’t the brightest and is easily washed out in direct sunlight.
As for the lights, the V8 uses a similar 3W LED headlight as the X7 Pro, but it also comes with the addition of ambient LEDs in the front and back of the deck.
All combined, the V8 has a much better lighting package than any other model we have reviewed from Turboant.

AnyHill is a brand with serious spurs when it comes to resilient scooters, and the UM-2 continues this lineage with a swagger. It is dependability incarnate, as seen in the smallest of features. The charging port, for example, is encased by a plastic cover that keeps dust and water away.
The sufficiently illuminating lights, too, are case studies in safety and reliability. They’re specially designed to meet the StVZO regulation that prevents bright lights from causing glare to road users, including oncoming bicyclists, drivers, and pedestrians – thus protecting you and them.
Elsewhere, the powerful 450W motor delivers a top speed of 19 mph and an acceleration rate of 0-15 mph in 4.5 seconds. This is faster than all of its closest competitors – including the Turboant X7 Pro, which has a 38% slower acceleration rate.
Why We Recommend It:
The AnyHill UM-2 knows exactly which baskets it wants to put its eggs in. It’s an everyday warrior designed to deal with wear and tear – and nowhere is this more evident than with a stem that’s noticeably thicker than that seen on its sibling, the UM-1. The cables are also managed neatly this time round, creating a slicker, more elegant aesthetic rounded off by a minimalist black frame.
Urban routes are its realm, and it’s on roads and sidewalks where the 10-inch pneumatic tires do their best shock-absorbing work.
Able to support 300 lbs of rider weight, the deck is spacious and grippy; this is also where you’ll find the battery, which can be removed via a lever located on the rear fender.

Another quirk to the deck is its kickstand which is located on its undercarriage keeping the UM-2 upright and stable when not in use. Its design takes inspiration from shared-rental scooters.
As you’d expect from an AnyHill model, the handlebars are simple and effective, with circular rubber grips that facilitate maximum grip. It’s also worth highlighting the handlebars’ set degree of rotation: our tests found that you’re never in danger of turning them too far, thereby removing the risk of jack-knifing.
It’s here where you’ll also find two pretty neat, thumb-activated paddles. On the right is your throttle, and on the left, is the electronic brake.
Braking, in fact, is one of the AnyHill UM-2’s strongest cards. Its braking system – led by a formidable front drum brake – can deliver a complete stop from 15 mph in a stunning 2.2 meters. To put this into perspective, there’s only one other scooter in our database of 140 that can beat it, and it costs 3.8 times more (the NAMI Burn-e 2 – $3,399). And if that wasn’t enough to shout about, applying the brakes cuts the motors to conserve battery power. Take a bow, AnyHill.
Being a scooter purpose-built for commuters and weekend wanderers, you’d expect it to deliver in terms of portability, too. The reality is, well, perplexing. Sure, the UM-2 is light enough to carry short distances; and once folded, it can fit into most reasonable spaces. But the folding mechanism itself does take some time to work out. Oddly, it’s located at the top of the stem, instead of where the fold occurs. You then need to ensure the stem locks into the hook on the rear fender, which can be a challenge in itself.
Among the AnyHill UM-2’s extra features is an Intelligent Battery Management System (BMS) that protects the 36V 10Ah LG battery from overheating and short-circuiting. The result is a longer-standing pack that will save you money in the long term.
The UM-2 also comes with a mobile app, which is available on the App Store and the Google Play Store. This grants you access to a plethora of real-time data, including battery status, speed, voltage, current, input power, controller temperature, journey distance, and total mileage. You can also turn the lights on and off through it, as well as lock the scooter remotely. When locked, the electronic brake is engaged making it harder to roll the scooter away.
And finally, there’s the ability to add a license plate on the bottom of the rear fender – this is a legal requirement in some states, so it works both as a fun bit of customization and legal compliance.
In conclusion, the UM-2 is a reliable, forward-thinking scooter that knows what its priorities are. The detachable battery is an excellent feature, while its power and braking ability are impressive. Sure, the $899 price tag is far higher than the Turboant V8 and X7 Pro, but if you want a scooter with superior LG battery technology (i.e. one that can give you years more use without deterioration), then the UM-2 is worth every cent.
