Turboant V8 Review

$799.98
Turboant is a certified A-lister of the entry-level scooter fraternity - this accolade alone gives you some indication of what its latest creation, the V8, is all about. Except, that’s like saying Clint Eastwood is just a good actor in Westerns. Because when it comes to pushing the envelope of what’s possible for a budget everyday scooter, the Turboant V8 is a Million Dollar Baby.   Exhibit A: not one, but two batteries (one of which is detachable) that combined, deliver a maximum range of 50 miles. The V8 is the first scooter I’ve ever tested that sports such a feature, and trust me when I say it’s worth its full weight in gold. Allied with a 5-second folding mechanism and surprisingly smooth ride quality, this is a city companion that will have Rita in HR asking where she can pick one up.   It may not win any awards for style or beauty, but the V8 doesn’t care. It’s a model designed from top to bottom to take the wear and tear of everyday life in its stride. It represents a giant step forward for affordable budget scooters.

Fluid Mosquito Review

$999.00 -9%
Spawning from a collaboration between FluidFreeRide and commuter scooter visionaries, E-TWOW, the Fluid Mosquito predictably challenges all we’ve come to expect from an ultra-portable model. Is it lightweight? You bet. Is it fast? No doubt. Value for money? Let’s just say there’s no better portable scooter under $1,000.   Billed as the most powerful ultra-portable scooter on this side of Jupiter, the Fluid Mosquito packs quite the punch. In fact, it has an extremely high power-to-weight ratio. Weighing a mere 29 lbs, this little nipper flies down city streets at speeds of 25 mph to transform any commute into a white-knuckle thrill ride.   Coming equipped with a powerful 48V 500W motor, respectable 9.6Ah battery, puncture-proof tires, and seriously impressive suspension, the Mosquito is custom-made for adding zip to shorter urban journeys. Wave goodbye to mundane morning walks to the office because this bottle rocket is about to change your life.

EMOVE RoadRunner Review

$1,795.00 -5%
Is it a scooter… Is it a bike… No, it’s the EMOVE RoadRunner. Powerful dual motors that are of different sizes (an industry first), mammoth 14-inch tires, a large memory foam seat, adjustable MTB fork suspension, and a removable battery pack join forces to produce a ride unlike anything we’ve tested before.   The product of three rounds of rigorous testing and iterations, the RoadRunner is the summation of all that is great about the EMOVE brand: durable design, fantastic range, respectable speed, and an eye for the unconventional. Just don’t let anyone else try it - there’s a strong chance you won’t get it back.   The RoadRunner isn’t perfect - few scooters are. Things can get quite bumpy due to its limited suspension, while the seat may leave your buttocks feeling a little bruised after a while. But these are trifling concerns in the grand scheme of things. EMOVE is shaking up the scooter world with this model, and we’re more than happy to come along for the ride.

SPLACH Twin Review

$999.00
Claiming the honor of being the cheapest and most compact dual-motor electric scooter, the SPLACH Twin is the perfect wingman for riders craving a little more zip as they cruise along city streets in supreme comfort and style.   Boasting top speeds of 28 mph and an eye-popping acceleration of 0-15 mph in just 3.0 seconds, this firecracker wields its 600W dual-motors to dazzling effect. In fact, you will not find a more powerful scooter under $1,000. Period.   Building on the already impressive stats, the Twin’s suspension system, which combines springs and swingarms delivers a level of shock absorption that is more commonly seen on scooters twice its price. No other scooter in the sub $1,000 comes close to the Twin’s ride quality.

NAMI Burn-e 2 Review

$3,399.00 -8%
Many scooters have reduced us to excitable kids, but few left us completely speechless. The NAMI Burn-e 2 has done just that.   The launch of the NAMI Burn-e spun the scooter world into a state of delirious reverie. It changed the game, laying down a marker that even left the Goliath of ultra-performance scooters, Dualtron, scrabbling. The only issue was its price tag. Enter the NAMI Burn-E 2, the new sibling that, though smaller in motor and battery, will nevertheless leave riders of all levels in dumbfounded awe.   It is almost implausible for a scooter of this power and build quality to be available at this price. Yet here we are - and we haven’t even acknowledged the imperious ride quality. Armed with industry-leading KKE hydraulic suspension, the Burn-e 2 has the best suspension that we’ve ever tested. It even beats far more expensive models like the Dualtron X2 which costs a whopping $6,490.   From budget to ultra-performance, fast to long-range, street to off-road, and everything in between, we’ve reviewed every type of electric scooter, and the NAMI Burn-e 2 just took the crown as our all-time favorite.

AnyHill UM-2

AnyHill UM-2 Review

$899.00 -10%
Following on from the UM-1, AnyHill returns to the scooter scene with a new model that builds on its strengths and corrects some of its flaws too. Honorable to the stylishly minimal design that characterized the UM-1, the UM-2 opts for a larger, more fleshed-out look that doesn’t sacrifice quality for quantity. With improved cable management, grippy handlebars, plush tires, and exceptional braking performance, this scooter scores on almost every plane. But most impressive of all is its detachable battery that can be removed, charged, and replaced at your convenience, offering more miles and usage for your money. Whilst the UM-2 would benefit from a suspension system for improved ride quality, the scooter ticks all of the boxes it promises to. AnyHill has made longevity the priority once again with their latest model and it shows.

Dualtron Mini Review

$1,499.00
The Mini sports a unique geometric aesthetic that is unlike any other scooter in the Dualtron line. Alongside its white on black finish and the rippling LED stem and deck lights, the Mini not only looks great but has the build quality to match. While it’s quick enough to make journeys fun and it sports a unique quadruple suspension system that offers plenty in the way of cushioning, the Mini does have some design quirks. For a scooter that is called the Mini, you’d expect it to be more portable. While the mountain bike-style handlebars are sturdy, they don’t fold, making the scooter bigger than expected when collapsed. Similarly, when folded it becomes longer than some of Dualtron's ultra-performance models. Overall, though, the Mini is an impressive scooter, but you are paying for the Dualtron brand.

Dualtron Eagle Pro Review

$2,290.00
I’ve reviewed quite a few Dualtron scooters and I’ve been relatively impressed with them all, so I had high hopes for the performance model, the Eagle Pro. There’s no denying that the Eagle Pro looks the part, with an all-black frame draped in white Dualtron branding and eye-catching stem lights. But, once you look beyond its flashy exterior, its value for money becomes questionable. Sure, its nippy acceleration is a lot of fun and it offers a pleasant ride on smooth tarmac, and the rubber suspension is great for carving, but the creaky, wobbly stem puts a downer on the overall ride quality. While the Eagle Pro was, for a while, a popular performance model, the release of new scooters has left it to fall behind the pack.

Dualtron Thunder 2 Review

$4,299.00
The Dualtron Thunder 2 joins the small, select band of ultra-performance scooters, but not only that, it looks to take the definition of ultra-performance to the next level with new benchmarks for power and battery size. Superlatives aren’t in short supply; the humongous 2880Wh battery will give more range than most will ever need and the 10,000W plus of power brings new meaning to the term peak power. Of course, no scooter is perfect and I found a couple of niggling points that might matter more to some than others.

Introducing the Wolf King – but not as you know it. Though it may look the same, and do everything you love about the original King, the new (and much improved) GT ups the ante in a sensational way. With better range, specs, and features than the original – not to mention more pace and power – the GT is a brutally efficient addition to the congested ultra-performance scooter market. Along with the NAMI Burn-e, it’s one of our favorite scooters – will it be yours, too? Let’s find out.

GoTrax GMAX Ultra Review

$849.00
Looking for a great budget scooter but don't want to miss out on premium features? Then the GMAX Ultra could be precisely what you're looking for. For their latest model, GoTrax has moved away from its standard budget style and upgraded several crucial components. The result is a scooter that provides enhanced build quality, a smoother ride, excellent range, a digital lock, and a handy built-in cable lock system. Disappointingly, the GMAX Ultra's motor is on the small side compared to other scooters at this price. However, it comes with an LG battery that gives you up to 45 miles of uninterrupted riding per charge. This superior battery power combined with solid design, 10-inch air-filled tires, and intuitive controls means that the GMAX Ultra offers more than enough to justify its price tag.

  1. Hi Gavin,

Thanks for your comment. I don’t believe GoTrax is releasing a new GXL any time soon. They do offer the GoTrax Apex, though, which is a better version of the GXL V2. You can read more about the Apex in my full review here.

  3. Hi Dan,

Great question! I’m going to be updating the page with a brand new list of the best long-range electric scooters in the next few weeks. Keep your eye’s peeled as the EMOVE Cruiser may make an appearance (spoiler alert…it does).

    – Josh

  4. Hi Dhiren,

Great question! I would opt for the Zing E8 for younger children. For teens, the E22 will be best. The E22 is too heavy for younger children.

    Thanks

    – Josh

  5. Hi Phil,

You can buy the ZING E10 directly from Segway, here.

  6. Hi Antony,

You are correct that the Wolf Warrior has a maximum mileage, under prime conditions, of 70 miles.

Eco mode limits you to about 20 mph so you should be able to take full advantage of the mileage.

Thanks, enjoy cruising around on the Wolf!

  7. Hi Ace,

  11. Hi Max,

There are few cheap models out there that have decent mileage. My list of the best cheap electric scooters might help you find a scooter more in your price bracket.

  12. Hi Arja,

Unfortunately, I only review the scooters – I don’t sell them. I hope you’re able to get your hands on the Mototec FatBoy. Let me know if you need any more help.

    – Josh

  13. Hi Michelle,

Traveling around Europe and exploring cities on a scooter sounds awesome! My advice would be to opt for a model that, like you said, is light, compact, and has a quick recharge time.

The Unagi Model One is the lightest scooter I’ve reviewed (it weighs just 23 lbs), folds and can be stored easily, and takes 4-5 hours to fully charge giving you 15.5 miles to cruise round the cities.

Alternatively, the INOKIM Light is another good option (30 lbs, folds, 4-5 hours charge for 20 miles).

Or, if you want a cheap model go for the GoTrax GXL 2 (26.4 lbs, folds, 4 charge hours for 12 miles).

    – Josh
