When Kaabo released the original Wolf Warrior X, scooterists who wanted a lighter, smaller alternative to the original Wolf Warrior howled in delight.

This was followed by the Wolf Warrior X Pro, an upgrade that came with a bigger battery and better display, yet, with its inferior Square Wave controllers, a slightly slower acceleration rate and jerky throttle, too.
A misstep? Perhaps. But there’s now a new pack leader in town: the Wolf Warrior X GT.

Integrating the best of its predecessors into one complete demonstration of style and substance, this brooding juggernaut is even closer to delivering the X factor that’s been long teased.

It has a few flaws and some areas of its design would have benefited from a refresh, but after all, no electric scooter is perfect. Whether you think it’s good value or not will depend on what you want from a scooter. If that’s a viciously fast model designed to burn rubber on the asphalt, then it’s a great option, but if you’re searching for an all-terrain titan that soaks up the irregularities of whatever you can throw its way, then you’d be better off with the Mantis King GT.

Who is it Best For?

Will the Wolf Warrior X GT Be a Good Fit For You?

With a top speed of 43 mph, a maximum range of 50 miles, and strong brakes, it certainly brings power to the table. And for those that love the big imposing build of other Wolf models, the X GT represents a more affordable entry into this premium line of scooters.

However, despite being equipped with hybrid tires, it falls short of other similarly-priced scooters that cope with varying terrain far better.

Value for Money

Is the Price Tag Worth it?

At $2,295, the Wolf Warrior X GT represents somewhat good value. Taking all that we love about Kaabo’s venerated range of Wolf models, but making everything more compact and practical, the GT is an affordable performance scooter that bestows the tank-like reliability of its bigger predecessors.

Wolf Warrior X GT Frame

With 30A Sine Wave controllers and snarling dual 1100W motors, it’s fast enough for rubber-burning drag races and makes its mark as the joint-fastest scooter in its price class. Similarly, it achieves a podium position where mileage is concerned, too.

Plus, with its iconic dual-stem, top-of-the-line hydraulic brakes, and a lighting rig that would send alien invaders scampering back home, the X GT is built with safety and longevity.

Wolf Warrior X GT Lights Illuminating Road

However, after riding the Wolf Warrior X GT alongside the Mantis King GT, we found that the latter achieved better performance in almost every test category (including acceleration, braking, build, and ride quality). Considering that the Mantis is just $200 more, we recommend opting for it if you want a top-performing all-terrain scooter.

Handlebars

With a height of 50 inches and a width of 25 inches, the handlebars are both high enough for tall riders (up to 6ft 3) and wide enough to facilitate a satisfying level of control. This sense of control is abetted by the rubber hand grips, which have been ergonomically designed to mold around your fingers and palms, therefore minimizing any potential for unwanted slips.

Wolf Warrior X GT Handgrip

The undoubted crown jewel on the handlebars is the centrally positioned TFT display. Beside it on the right, you’ll find the thumb throttle, which despite having some dead space, is easy to use.

Wolf Warrior X GT Handlebars

On the left, you get two convenient button pads. The first one allows you to control your headlight, turn signals, and horn, while the second lets you select your desired riding mode, control the power output of the motors by choosing either single or dual motor mode, and access the scooter's advanced p-settings. From the p-settings, you can set a power-on password, and make adjustments to how your scooter performs by enabling the anti-locking braking system or turning cruise control on/off.

Frame

One of the things we love most about Kaabo’s Wolf range is the synonymous dual stem. The Warrior X GT continues this proud lineage, and once again, its value is immediately apparent.

Wolf Warrior X GT Dual Stem

While many scooters are prone to wobbling more than Pavarotti’s larynx at higher speeds, you’ll find none of that here. The reinforced stem guarantees stability, even when you’re going heavy on the throttle.

It also sends love notes to the aesthetes out there. With its menacing black facade and accents of red on the deck and handlebars, it’s a minimalist triumph that sits on the right side of toned-down sophistication.

Deck

One of the biggest differences between the X GT and the original X is the deck. Measuring 22.5 inches, it’s almost 2 inches longer. This is great news for bigger riders, and it comes with more than enough grip to keep those size-15s firmly planted.

Wolf Warrior X GT Deck

If you do find that you need more space, the elongated kickplate adds an extra 10.5 inches to the deck. This also allows you to lean into the handlebars for greater control while riding at speed and cornering.

Wolf Warrior X GT Kickplate

Wheels

The Wolf Warrior X GT was designed to be an asphalt shredder and an all-terrain trailblazer. This versatility requires tires that feel at home on a variety of surfaces – and this scooter has them.

Wolf Warrior X GT Hybrid All-Terrain Tires

Measuring 10 by 3 inches, these off-road hybrid humdingers deliver excellent traction on scruffier terrain whilst also ensuring a firm grounding on roads.

The only thing to be aware of is that because they sport a deep knobby tread pattern, they make more noise than those that are flat in their design (i.e. street-grade tires).

Build Quality & Durability

Has Kaabo trademarked the word ‘sturdy’ yet? If not, then it should.

Every scooter the brand makes is as tough as nails – and the X GT bucks no trends here. Its aluminum-alloy frame and dual-stem design are premium to a tee, while the cable management is neat and tidy. Everywhere you look, the GT is built for longevity.

Wolf Warrior X GT Frame From Side

But, no scooter is perfect. Despite coming with what looks like a beefy kickstand, it doesn’t lock into place. We found that a little knock or an attempt to stand it up on a slight incline caused the kickstand to move and collapse, potentially damaging your scooter as it topples over.

Wolf Warrior X GT Kickstand

The suspension is also starting to feel outdated with no improvements being made to it in the last 3 years.

Wolf Warrior X GT Front Fork Suspension

The folding mechanism is clunky, too. But, we’ll explore these in more depth throughout the review.

Wolf Warrior X GT Folding Mechanism

Weight & Load

Weighing in at 83 lbs, it’s significantly lighter than other members of the Wolf pack – including the Wolf Warrior 11 (101 lbs) and Wolf King GT (115 lbs). However, for the power on offer, it’s beaten by the lighter and more well-rounded Mantis King GT.

As for its 265 lbs load-bearing capacity, this is what we’d expect from a Kaabo scooter. Alongside the spacious deck, it's suitable for heavy riders.

Close Up of Wolf Warrior X GT Deck

Folding & Portability

We’ll level with you – although the folding mechanism makes it much easier to fold than that of its grandfather – the Wolf Warrior – it’s still not convenient.

Wolf Warrior X GT Folded

Measured up against the likes of the Mantis King GT’s superior claw-like lever that pulls the stem and neck of the scooter together in one easy swoop, the Wolf’s dual collar clamp integration is clunky and awkward.

Wolf Warrior X GT Folding Collar Clamps

To lock the stem in place, you need to tighten the collar clamps by twisting and pushing the levers shut. Sounds simple, but you have to keep repeating the process on each lever because as you tighten one, the other loosens, and so on. Eventually, after a minute or so, all the levers will be fastened and you can ride the scooter.

Another issue is that once folded, the stem doesn’t lock down to the deck. This can be troublesome when it comes to carrying the scooter. You can grab the kickplate to help lift it, but at the front, there’s little room to hold onto. You can only use two or three fingers as you try to get a hold of the arch that connects the dual stem.

Wolf Warrior X GT Folded Frame

Ride Quality

Is the Wolf Warrior X GT Comfortable to Ride?

Water is wet, fire is hot, and Kaabo scooters are a dream to ride…or at least most of them are.

With the X GT, it seems to have everything going for it – front hydraulic suspension and dual rear springs, beefy tires, and a spacious frame. But, after taking it for a spin across varying terrain, it was clear that its ride quality wasn’t all that we had hoped for.

Wolf Warrior X GT Dual Stem Frame

The rear springs are to blame here. They are extremely stiff, thereby counteracting the front forks which do an otherwise good job of compressing and rebounding.

Wolf Warrior X GT Rear Springs

It’s not all doom and gloom, though. This setup is great for fast rides across streets and roads, while the Sine Wave controllers and ergonomic thumb throttle ensure a smooth delivery of power that feels awesome – especially when carving and taking corners at speed. But, there’s no getting away from the fact that you will feel the bumps and vibrations of rougher terrain.

Ultimately, if you want to benefit from the exhilarating ride that the Wolf Warrior X GT can deliver on smooth surfaces, but also want to conquer forest trails then the Mantis King GT will be a better fit. After all, it won our award for the best all-terrain electric scooter.

Performance & Safety

Top Speed

Brandishing dual 60V 1100W motors, the X GT produces a peak power output of 4400W, allowing it to hit a vicious top speed of 43 mph.

Speed vs Price Comparison

At $2,295, five other models within a range of $500 can be compared to X GT – and not one can better its top speed.

Wolf Warrior X GT Speed vs Price Comparison

Its closest competitors here are the Mantis King GT and the Apollo Phantom 60V, both of which match it for pace.

However, if we dig deeper into the data and consider acceleration rates, the true winner is the Mantis King GT with its 10% faster acceleration to 15 mph. It also beats the Warrior X GT to 25 mph by a time that’s 5% quicker.

Acceleration

This is an area where the X GT shines.

Power is funneled from the dual motors with exemplary smoothness and control. As a result, it hits 15 mph from a standstill in a whiplashing 2.1 seconds and 25 mph in just 4.2 seconds.

Wolf Warrior X GT Acceleration Comparison

The only model that tops this accelerative ferocity is the Mantis King GT, which can go from 0-15 mph in 1.9 seconds and 0-25 mph in 4.0 seconds flat. Its predecessor, on the other other hand, is a close match to the new GT model, but it does, on average, accelerate at a rate that’s 8% slower.

One other model that we’ve thrown into the mix is the SPLACH Titan. This scooter has smaller and less powerful 52V 1000W motors but manages to achieve an impressive acceleration rate whilst costing just shy of half what the Wolf retails for.

Scooter0-15 MPH (Seconds)0-25 MPH (Seconds)
Mantis King GT ($2,495)
1.94.0
Wolf Warrior X GT ($2,295)2.14.2
Wolf Warrior X ($1,999)2.24.7
SPLACH Titan ($1,199)2.54.9

Range

Equipped with a battery that marks a huge departure away from the previous Warrior X, the LG 60V 28Ah unit is bigger, better, and longer lasting than the cheaper 60V 21Ah FST pack.

Translating into a superior maximum range of 50 miles (or 43 miles under realistic riding conditions), it surpasses the original X model. It does, however, go toe-to-toe with the X Pro variant for real-world mileage, but this scooter has been discontinued so this comparison isn’t all that insightful.

Mileage vs Price Comparison

When measured up against 5 other models within the same price category, the Warrior X GT has one main rival – yup, you guessed it, the Mantis King GT (seriously, forget Godzilla vs Kong; who wants to see Wolf vs Mantis made into a movie?)

Wolf Warrior X GT Mileage vs Price Comparison

The Wolf has to settle for second place here, with the Mantis coming out on top thanks to its 56-mile range.

Now, this may seem counterintuitive considering that both the Mantis and Wolf models share the same power-hungry motors but have batteries that differ in size, with the one in the Mantis holding 14% less energy. Its maximum mileage may outstrip the Wolf as a result of its lighter weight, but things are flipped on their head when we consider real-world range. Here, the Wolf achieves an impressive 43 miles, while the Mantis keeps the wheels rolling for 38 miles.

Hill Climbing

Bring powerful controllers, a large battery, and dual motors into the equation and what do you get? That’s right: a certified hill-eating machine.

Wolf Warrior X GT Front Motor

The Wolf Warrior X GT can easily gobble up steep inclines, which will send even the streets of San Francisco fleeing for their lives.

Shock Absorption / Suspension

We hate to say it, but the suspension system is archaic.

Wolf Warrior X GT Hybrid Tires

It’s been approximately 3 years since Kaabo released the original Wolf Warrior. It came with never before seen front hydraulic forks and dual rear springs that, at the time, represented a leap forward in the shock absorption department. However, as the market has grown and technologies have advanced, this system has fallen by the wayside.

The front fork works well to compress and rebound as the tire rolls over obstacles, but the real point of contention is the dual rear springs that bounce harshly over what the front forks just soaked up.

Wolf Warrior X GT Frame From Rear

This is the most disappointing aspect of the X GT. If only it had taken a page from the Mantis King GT’s book and introduced adjustable hydraulic shocks, it would have been a fantastic all-terrain scooter.

Braking

This is an area where the Wolf Warrior X GT excels. Armed with sharp and responsive Zoom hydraulics, you can expect to come to a complete stop from 15 mph in just 2.4 meters. This is one of the best braking performances you’ll find on a high-performance scooter, let alone within its price class.

Wolf Warrior X GT Rear Brake

As well as the hydraulic discs, you also get an anti-locking braking system (ABS) that can be switched on or off. It works by sensing when the wheels are about to lock and then rapidly reducing and increasing the braking pressure multiple times per second to apply the optimal pressure. This allows the wheels to keep moving as the scooter slows down, instead of locking up and skidding.

Charge Time

Coming with two chargers, the time it takes to re-juice can be cut in half to 7 hours from the standard 14 hours.

One noteworthy addition here are the new spring-loaded plastic charge port covers and M16 3-Pin connectors. These not only protect your ports from water and dust ingress but also deliver a more secure connection to prevent arcing.

Extra Features

TFT Display

One of the most noticeable upgrades found on the X GT is the new TFT display. This little beauty is super bright, anti-glare, and responsive to your input. For instance, when you brake, a red exclamation mark pops onto the screen. Similarly, when you engage either of the turn signals, a corresponding arrow flashes. And, when the headlights are turned on, the screen automatically dims to conserve battery.

Wolf Warrior X GT Display

What’s more, through it you can access six gears, while switching between single and dual motor modes. And if this wasn’t enough to appease your tech needs, you can also set a four-digit passcode to stop unwanted hands from activating the scooter.

Full Lighting Rig With Customizable LEDs

It may sound like a relatively trivial highlight, but seriously, the lighting set-up on the Wolf Warrior X GT is possibly its crowning glory.

Wolf Warrior X GT Lights at Night

Let’s start with the dual headlights. They’re bright enough to usher ships to shore.

Wolf Warrior X GT Headlight Beam

Here's the headlights off-road, too:

Wolf Warrior X GT Headlight On Forest Track

Then we have the swaggy deck LEDs that illuminate the branding emblazoned across its sides. This is manna from heaven for the Instagrammers among us – not to mention Kaabo’s social media team. The colors, patterns, and brightness can even be controlled by a mobile app.

Wolf Warrior X GT Mobile App to Change LED Color

Finally, you have the taillights, brake lights, and turn signals. Though bright, the one drawback is that the brake light and turn signals can’t be used together.

Wolf Warrior X GT Turn Signal

USB Charging Port

On the button pad that grants control of your riding modes and motor usage, you’ll find a USB charging port.

Wolf Warrior X GT USB Charging Port

This would be super convenient if it worked, but after plugging a cable in and attempting to charge a phone, it did nothing.

Motorcycle-Grade Horn

Fed up with getting stuck behind slow walkers? Need to alert a risk-taking street-crosser to your presence? Just fancy making some noise in the big bad city? Guess what – you can howl like a wolf (or high-pitched motorbike) thanks to the horn.

Warranty & Post-Purchase Support

Sold by Voro Motors, the Wolf Warrior X GT comes with a standard 1-year limited warranty.

This warranty covers repairs and replacements for the motors, battery, controllers, voltmeter, display, and throttle. It’s also important to note that you can only make a warranty claim for individual parts once during the coverage period. Any further replacements will come at a cost to you.

As is customary for most scooters, the warranty does not cover general wear and tear, misuse, cosmetic damage, neglect, alterations, improper assembly, or overexposure to heat and water. Any damage to the frame, lights, or button consoles, as well as small components like screws, nuts, and bolts, also fall outside of the warranty.

Voro Motors have repair facilities in Los Angeles and New York City where you can take your scooter, but the company also provides online support for any customers who cannot obtain physical help. Alternatively, you can send your scooter to them for repair but you’ll have to cover the inbound and outbound shipping fees.
