If you’ve been in the electric scooter game for a while, there comes a point where you get the itch to up the ante and try something a bit wilder than your average, run-of-the-mill commuter scooter. So, when it comes to the most extreme scooter on the market, there’s only one name you need to know: The Dualtron X 2.

When I call this machine a beast, there’s not an ounce of exaggeration in it. The stats on this scooter are beyond what I ever thought an electric scooter would be able to achieve. You’ll often see performance scooters described as ‘powerhouses’, but even that seems too tame to describe what the X can do.

The Dualtron X 2 is the fastest electric scooter and can hit a nerve-tingling 68 mph. This is because it comes with dual hub motors and the tremendous combined power of 8300W. It’s no surprise that the torque and acceleration on the X will make your mouth go dry, and it’ll leave most well-respected performance scooters panting in its wake. Once you’ve experienced the X’s rapid take-off, everything else will pale in comparison. Make sure you wear correct safety equipment when you step on this scooter — a helmet is a must.

It won’t be easily deterred by steep inclines, either. If you live in a particularly hilly area, you don’t need to worry about the X sputtering and faltering at the sight of a slope. Thanks to the enormous power of the motors, you’ll be able to sail up 70% inclines just as easily as breezing along the flat. Of course, rider weight will impact the incline capacity but even Filbert Street (31.5%), the steepest street in San Francisco, will be no match for the Dualtron X 2 – even if you are on the heavier side.

A scooter like this needs to be able to satisfy the urge to ride for miles on end without running out of juice. Thankfully, the X’s 72V 42Ah battery pack contains LG cells, which are some of the best on the market, and deliver a jaw-dropping range of 93 miles. This is the longest range I’ve ever reviewed.

It’ll be difficult not to ride this thing to the top of its potential every time you set foot on it, so in real life, reaching that top mileage is going to be unlikely. You’ll probably see something closer to 50 or 60 miles, but this is nothing to sniff out. The chances are, you’ll be able to go a long time between charges and if you opt for a fast charger, a full battery top-up will take a mere 7.5 hours. This might not seem that quick, but considering the awesome range on offer, it’s downright incredible.

Let me make one thing clear: the Dualtron X 2 is not a timid machine destined to a life of urban commutes and bland city rides. This scooter is built for an adrenaline rush and the freedom of off-roading. The sturdy and stylishly oversized frame is purpose-built to deliver extreme durability and enhanced stability, whilst the huge foot deck will help you keep your balance at all times, as well as being big enough to secure the additional seat attachment should you wish to purchase this separately. Not only does this keep you safe, but it also delivers great rider comfort.

The large 13’ x 5” tyres are one of the first things you see when you look at the X. Their larger surface area is perfect for keeping you stable and provides great traction on firm and loose surfaces alike. They’re also pneumatic, which means they absorb shocks from the terrain you're riding over with ease, whilst their tubeless design makes them more resistant to flats.

Be warned though: if you’ve never ridden a scooter with tyres this large, the sensation might take some time to get used to. These aren’t like scooter tyres at all, and at first, might feel a bit cumbersome. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll love the floating feeling these tyres deliver.

So far, the X is already shaping up to be a pretty comfortable ride, but the suspension is the cherry on top of the cake. Dualtron usually opts for a rubber cartridge system that has always proved popular with their followers, however, the new coil-over-shocks system is one of the best I’ve ever seen. Coil-over-shocks are exactly what they sound like: springs wrapped around shock absorbers to produce a suspension that is a unique blend of soft and stiff depending on the situation. They can take on any obstacles, from the largest pothole to the most insignificant pebble, and deliver excellent ride quality throughout.

Another unique feature that helps keep you both safe and secure is the addition of a steering damper. This isn’t something I’ve seen on an electric scooter before because they’re usually only found on motorcycles. This keeps the steering tight when going at fast speeds, preventing you from wobbling. It means you can hit that throttle without having to worry too much about the physics of your movements.

A scooter this fast needs the best brakes, which is why the Dualtron X 2 comes equipped with full hydraulic dual disc brakes. These are ultra-responsive and deliver controlled and precise stopping power. It also comes equipped with optional ABS (anti-lock braking system) that can be disabled if you’d prefer.

The X comes with a bright headlight which is good enough for piercing through the dark, as well as swag lights, rear lights, and – my favourite addition on electric scooters – turn signals. You can operate these from the display, which gives you visibility over your speed and voltage. It also features a horn and electric fingerprint reader which you can use to lock and unlock the X. This is an excellent security feature that will dissuade sticky fingers.

One of the few downsides to the X is its price tag: it costs a staggering £5,250. Considering the stats on offer, it’s hard to say this price isn’t worth it, but it’ll still be way outside the budget of even the most hardcore scooter enthusiasts.

The price isn’t the only thing that packs a punch, either. The X weighs a stunning 66 kg, which limits its practicality. Lifting and carrying this thing on your own will be next to impossible, even if it can fold down. It further drives home the point that the X hasn’t been designed for casual usage. It’s for a particular niche of rider willing to pay the steep price and deal with the extra weight in exchange for formidable performance.

The Dualtron X 2 isn’t for the faint-hearted, and it delights in pushing the boundaries of what electric scooters can do. If you’ve got the budget, and you want that extreme adrenaline rush, this beast is without a doubt the best you can buy.

Look, I hear you. The Dualtron X 2 is a beast, but for many riders, it’s just not practical. But never fear, there are a whole host of other performance scooters out there that are just as good, but slightly less drastic. One of the top contenders is the Wolf Warrior. And no, I wouldn’t blame you if you bought it just for how cool its name sounds.

This scooter is a warrior in every sense of the word and one of the most impressive options out there for its price class. At the top of its long list of positives is its eye-watering top speed of 50 mph. The dual motors have a combined peak output of 5400W and with this much power to play with, you can guarantee that the torque and acceleration behind the Wolf Warrior are heart-stoppingly good.

What about hill climbs? Please. With the dual-motor, full-on turbo mode enabled, you won’t notice even the steepest of slopes. This scooter eats sharp inclines for breakfast, so anything up to 30% is child’s play. To put that into context, most city hills never get steeper than 20%, so you’ll have to put some effort into finding a suitably challenging incline.

Now you’re aware of how powerful the Wolf Warrior is, I’ll let you in on a little secret. The inside of this scooter is manufactured by Mini Motors USA, which is the company responsible for bringing us the Dualtron X and Thunder, some of the fastest, most powerful scooters in the world. You can rest assured that the Wolf Warrior is of the highest pedigree, and has all the credentials to back up its chunky and menacing exterior.

Everything about this scooter tips towards the extreme end of the scale, so having brakes strong enough to deal with that is vital. Luckily, the Wolf Warrior comes with full hydraulic brakes, which are often viewed as the best type of brakes – they’re my first choice too. They deliver smooth and controlled braking and are reliable through and through.

The Wolf Warrior’s ride quality is second-to-none, thanks to the sturdy frame, wide foot deck, and large 11” pneumatic tyres. These keep you stable and balanced on a variety of terrains due to their wider surface area. Overall, the Warrior can support riders of up to150 kg, making this a great choice for heavier adults who want a more adrenaline-charged experience.

The increased stability is especially useful if you’re planning to go off-road, and let’s be honest, this is where this scooter is most at home. It comes with either on or off-road tyres, depending on your riding preferences. The former has a slicker design and I’d recommend these if you’re going to be riding regularly at top speed, whereas the off-road option comes with a knobby texture that’s perfect for gaining more traction on loose sand or mud. Both are more flat resistant than traditional air-filled tyres thanks to their tubeless design and help cushion against uncomfortable bumps or large potholes.

You’ll be pleased to know that the Wolf Warrior comes with front hydraulic and rear spring suspension. This is ideal for cruising over rough surfaces because it has excellent shock absorption. It’s a superior suspension system that will guarantee a comfortable ride so you can focus on manoeuvres and jumps rather than worrying about your wrists and hips taking the hits.

Whether you’re going to be sticking to well-travelled roads or heading off-piste, the Wolf Warrior’s massive 35Ah LG battery promises a top range of 70 miles in between charges. You’ll only see this kind of mileage in single-drive and eco mode, but you’ll still have plenty of juice in the tank if you crank up the volume. Plus, with a comparatively small 8-hour recharge time, it won’t be long before you’re back out on the trail.

The Wolf Warrior is set up well for nighttime riding, featuring two circular front lamps which are more than sufficient for lighting the way.

It also comes with side deck lights as well as a tail light for extra visibility when it's dark.

Equipped with the classic Mini Motors EYE Controller, you can conveniently monitor your riding stats with one glance. Alongside this, you’ll find a horn and your power control buttons, making for a very compact but convenient handlebar display.

There’s no doubt that the Wolf Warrior has many of the premium features that give the Dualtron X 2 such a fearsome reputation. However, like its expensive cousin, it’s also a bit of a beast when it comes to weight, coming in at 45.8 kg. This is far from practical or portable. Although you can fold it, that doesn’t mean you’re going to be able to carry it.

If this isn’t high on your list of priorities though, you’ll be thrilled to know that the Wolf Warrior is a lot kinder on your bank balance. It’ll set you back £2,599, which is a huge saving of £2,651. Sure, you’ll need to make a few compromises but overall, the Wolf Warrior is a more than worthy runner up if you’re looking for a monster of a machine that is bursting with adrenaline-thumping potential.

Mini Motors USA is one of the most respected scooter brands out there, and luckily for you, the Dualtron range isn’t all it has to offer. Let me introduce the Speedway 5. If you’ve never heard of it, sit tight and get comfortable because I think you’re going to like this.

The Speedway 5 comes with a Mini Motors drivetrain so its deceptively sleek frame is packed with power. Its dual motors offer a peak output of 3600W and hitting its top speed of 40 mph is a breeze. If you’re looking for something to ride on fast-paced city streets, the 5 is ideal for this.

Let me reassure you, there’s nothing sluggish about this scooter – the torque is strong and acceleration is smooth, responsive, and just as nippy as you’d expect from a brand like Mini Motors. Aesthetically, it features a more pared-back look which some riders might underestimate. This is a mistake. Not only can it match the speed of more expensive models like the Dualtron III, but because of its dual motors, it can conquer hills of up to 37% without seeing that speed suffer.

You can expect a smooth and soft ride from the Speedway 5 thanks to its 10” tubeless pneumatic tyres which cushion against sharp hits, absorbing shocks as they come. The lack of an inner tube also makes them more flat-resistant, as this is the part of a tyre that usually pops if you are unfortunate to suffer a puncture.

It’s important to know that even though the tyres can take a hit or two, this scooter is designed primarily for road use. The biggest indicator of this is that the tyres themselves are slick rather than heavily textured. Slick tyres perform best on roads and are ideal for riding at fast speeds, but they’ll struggle to gain traction on mud, sand, or grass.

As well as the tyres, this scooter gets extra damping from its solid suspension system. The front and rear air springs help to diffuse harsh vibrations and are therefore perfect if you’re partial to a few curb jumps. The combination of the suspension and tyres is vital for delivering that all-important rider comfort, but they’re also key to keeping you safe. This is because they minimize the amount of strain your joints will be under if you have to rattle your way across heavily potholed terrain.

Safety should always be the number one priority when it comes to a fast scooter. You wouldn’t hop on and blast off at 40 mph without a helmet, so why do it with sub-par brakes? Luckily, the Speedway 5 comes with front and rear disc brakes, as well as a regenerative electric brake. Hydraulics are always my top choice but disc brakes are a close second. They’re responsive and make sure you’re in control at all times, as well as being more resistant to dirt and performing well in wet conditions.

If you’re planning to ride in the dark, the 5 comes with all the lights you could need and then some. It features a bright headlight as well as front and rear lights. Turn signals have also been included which are a bonus in my book because of the added safety merits. This scooter also has a fun sidelight that projects on the ground in the shape of the Speedway logo – this adds a little burst of character that you don’t see on other models.

Mini Motors’ scooters are famous for having a long-range and the Speedway 5 is no exception. This scooter claims to be able to hit 75 miles on a single charge, although as with all scooters this is slightly less in reality. Regardless, this is still pretty darn impressive, especially when you consider that it only takes 4 hours to recharge with a fast charger. If you stick to the standard charging option, this jumps up to 13 hours.

It is worth noting that the Speedway 5 doesn’t come with an LG battery pack like many of its Dualtron cousins. Instead, it contains a cheaper unit, which is most likely the main reason this scooter costs so much less. It retails at an incredibly reasonable £1,600, so is a great option if you’re looking for power, but can’t manage the steep asking price of the Dualtron X 2 or Wolf Warrior. However, you will need to make some compromises, and the LG battery is the main one.

This being said, you’ll still get the standard Mini Motors EYE LED display and throttle combination where you’ll be able to see all of your riding stats. You also have the option to add the nifty fingerprint reader (to lock and unlock the scooter) that comes as standard with the Dualtron X 2 at an additional cost.

The best thing about the Speedway 5 is that it’s a more practical machine than its Dualtron cousins. When I say it’s more practical, this is down to the fact that at 31.7 kg, it weighs a lot less. This is still not a scooter that you’ll be able to carry around with you easily, but it’s a big improvement.

It’s perfect for busy city commutes, and it has enough power to fuel pacey weekend exploration. The pared-back style will suit more minimalist riders and blends into an urban environment well. Its price tag is one of the best parts of it, and you’ll feel a little smug knowing you’ve made such a saving whilst still bagging a scooter with that top-class Mini Motors pedigree.

If you’ve ever found yourself thinking, ‘ love this scooter, but I wish I could just change this,’ or ‘This scooter would be even better if…’ then buckle up because the Apollo Pro 60V Ludicrous (affectionately nicknamed ‘the Ludo’) could be right up your street.

If you want a scooter that has brutal acceleration, there aren’t many that beat the Ludicrous. The sensitive throttle means letting loose is as simple as a twitch of your finger. At its core, this scooter has the spirit of a premium racing car, so let me warn you, it’ll leap out from underneath you, sprinting rapidly towards its top speed of 44 mph. You can expect to get from 0 to 30 in a jaw-dropping 4 seconds. This is one of the fastest acceleration times I’ve ever reviewed.

Thanks to the dual motors and continuous output of 2400W, the power and torque of the Ludicrous is no shrinking wallflower. Whilst in dual-motor, turbo mode, it can barrel its way up slopes with a 40% grade. The hill-climbing ability on the Ludicrous is some of the best you’ll find. Luckily, the durable frame and ultra-wide deck are designed specifically to deal with aggressive riding, so you’ll be stable and balanced no matter what.

The Ludo features a 60V 21Ah battery containing Samsung cells, which is a refreshing departure from the normal failsafe choice of LG. The two are on par with each other when it comes to quality so it’s not surprising that the Ludicrous has a lengthy range of 56 miles when ridden in eco mode. In the name of transparency, aggressive riders will see a reduced mileage of around 25 miles, which is significantly less. However, it does give you the chance to moderate your riding style based on how far you want to go.

When it comes to charging, like most top-tier performance scooters, the Ludo comes with two charging options: standard or fast. The first will allow you to reach full battery in 10 hours, whereas the second will slice that, halving it down to 5, but you’ll need to pay extra for it.

If you’re looking for superior rider comfort, the Ludicrous is up there with the best. The 10” pneumatic tyres and front spring and rear hydraulic suspension work together seamlessly to absorb and diffuse hard shocks, delivering a smooth experience.

The overall build of the scooter is as tough as they come and the deck is wide enough for you to connect a seat attachment. Altogether, this is a winning combination that makes this scooter versatile enough to tackle urban exploration and off-road adventures. Wherever you’re looking to go, the Ludicrous can adapt.

The Ludo comes equipped with a formidable trio of brakes including front and rear hydraulic disc brakes which offer exceptional braking control. As if that wasn’t enough, it also features an electric regenerative brake that slows down the motor, whilst the disc brakes take care of the wheels. This is operated by a separate thumb paddle on the handlebar and does a great job of slowing you down smoothly from top speeds.

It’s also more portable than most performance scooters, weighing 34.9 kg. Although I wouldn’t say it’s easy to lift and carry, it’s certainly lighter than others. This positions it higher on the practicality scale than other models like the Wolf Warrior and Dualtron X 2.

So far, the stats on this scooter display how impressive it is, but what sets it out from the pack? That’s a simple question to answer: the Stormcore Controller. If you’ve got no idea what I’m talking about, let me explain. This is a control centre built into the scooter that manages the two motors. It comes with Bluetooth connectivity, so you can pair it up with a dedicated mobile app. It’s also the main feature that’s going to set scooter enthusiast pulses racing.

The Stormcore Controller allows deep-level customization, permitting adjustments to torque and acceleration settings as well as brake strength. If you’re a big fan of the technical side of ride performance, this scooter will let you dive into the delicious nitty-gritty of it all. However, tweaking these base stats can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing, so steer clear if you’re new to the electric scooter game. The Ludicrous doesn’t sit in beginner territory.

This beast is an investment, but if your heart is beating erratically after reading the last couple of paragraphs, let me tell you that it’s a worthy one. This scooter will appeal to adrenaline junkies simply for its power and speed, but there are a select few who will be able to get the most out of the Stormcore controller. If you’re one of these, there’s no better scooter for you.

If you liked the look of the Apollo Pro Ludicrous, but are intimidated by the intense customization options, don’t panic. There aren’t many riders out there that like to dig down to such a granular level, which is why Apollo offers the Pro 52V.

With the weight of the Apollo name behind it, the Pro 52V is still capable of delivering zippy acceleration and a fast-paced ride despite being the most basic model in the Pro range.

It comes equipped with a powerful dual-motor set-up that’s capable of putting out 2400W. That’s why this scooter has no trouble accelerating up to its top speed of 38 mph. In fact, you’ll be able to go from 0-30 mph in 6.2 seconds and 40% slopes will be powerless beneath the strength of the 52V’s motors.

With this kind of riding potential, the 52V is an exceptionally good scooter to ride and is perfect for hitting both city streets and urban trails. This is down to the fact that the exterior make-up of the scooter is very similar to that of the Ludicrous. The 10” pneumatic tyres alongside the front spring and rear hydraulic suspension can fend off the most uncomfortable hits, providing excellent shock absorption and protecting against potholes and unexpected bumps alike.

The forged aluminium frame and wide deck are also perfect for withstanding more aggressive rides – they’re specifically designed to keep you feeling safe and stable. Riders up to 150 kg will be able to keep their balance easily whilst experiencing a smooth ride. There’s even an additional seat attachment available at a further cost if you want to take things from casual and pleasant to downright luxurious. This will come in handy if you’re planning longer excursions.

The battery on the Pro 52V is more than capable of handling extended rides. Rather than matching the Pro 60V’s Samsung battery, the cells in the 52V are manufactured by LG and deliver an impressive range of 56 miles, which is on par with the Ludo. This is reduced to around 25 miles when riding aggressively. Nevertheless, recharging the scooter to get back out on the road is a fairly quick affair. If you opt to pay extra for the fast charger, you can reach full battery in just 5 hours. Using the standard charger will take roughly 10 hours.

The Pro 52V will set you back £1,699, which is far cheaper than the Ludicrous. There are two main reasons for this, the first being the absence of the high-tech Stormcore Controller. For the more cautious rider amongst you, this is a bonus. It takes away the potentially intimidating prospect of dealing with the technical scooter setup and makes it a more practical option for less experienced riders.

The second reason for the price difference lies in the brakes. The Ludicrous and Pro 60V both come with fully hydraulic brakes, which are arguably the best you can get. The standard 52V comes with cable disc brakes. These are more than capable of bringing you to a controlled stop when you need them to and they perform well in wet weather, but they’re not as efficient as hydraulics. Apollo offers the option to upgrade these and I’d recommend doing so if your budget can stretch to £1,699.

Other than the brakes, there’s little to distinguish the 52V from its older brothers. It features the same sleek black aesthetic, trimmed with metallic blue accents perfect for channelling a cool urban vibe. It weighs 34.9 kg which is on the heavier side but isn’t beyond the realms of practicality when it comes to lifting and carrying.

The 52V’s handlebar-integrated display gives visibility over your battery and speed as well as enabling cruise control when you want to kick back and relax, although it doesn’t come with a Bluetooth mobile app like the Ludicrous does. For riding at night, the Pro features front and rear lights, which make you more visible to others. As always, invest in stronger lighting if you’re going to be riding regularly in the dark.

The Pro 52V is the best value for money out of all those in the Apollo Pro range. There are a few compromises compared to its more advanced siblings, but these don’t detract from the high-quality riding experience. This is a great option if you want punchy power, but aren’t after something as extreme as the Ludicrous.

If you’re planning to use your electric scooter regularly, you need to be able to rely on it, which is why the Emove Cruiser is a great option for anyone who’s planning everyday riding. It’s one of the most reliable scooters available, managing to appeal to a wide range of needs, all in one well-designed package.

This holds true with the Cruiser, but it’s safe to say you’ll probably be able to go weeks without even thinking about recharging it. But when you do run out of juice, expect to wait between 9 and 12 hours for a complete top-up. This is pretty respectable, and the extended recharge time will keep your battery healthier for longer.

It’s clear that the Cruiser has been built with a specific focus on range, but that’s not to say speed has been neglected. Despite featuring only a single motor, it reaches a maximum of 25 mph. This helps the battery to conserve power and go for longer, whilst still providing a top speed that can keep up with city traffic.

Although lacking the boost a second motor gives, the Cruiser has a peak output of 1600W which is still impressively punchy. Acceleration won’t be on par with the extreme performance scooters, like the Apollo Pro Ludicrous, but it’s downright speedy when on the flat and can maintain pace on hills with a 10% slope grade.

Everyone’s got a favourite pair of boots. You’ve had them for years and they fit just right and they’re the most comfortable, reliable things you own. That’s exactly what the Emove Cruiser is, but with a lot less foot odour. The ride quality on this scooter is unparalleled by anything else in this price bracket and thanks to its IPX6 waterproof rating, it won’t be affected by a little rain either.

The 10” pneumatic tyres are wide enough that they provide great stability and the ultra-wide deck means you can wave goodbye to awkward, narrow foot placements. Instead, you’re able to easily plant your feet in a strong and natural stance that promises excellent balance. This is key if you’re planning to make the most of that range and ride for long stretches. You can even purchase an additional seat attachment to level up the comfort. This is sold separately, but worth it if you’re going to be spending a lot of time on the road.

The front dual and rear air shock suspension provides enhanced control when riding over bumps or potholes. This protects your legs from any jarring impacts, guaranteeing an effortless ride, even for heavier adults up to 160 kg. It’s worth noting that despite the excellent suspension and flat-resistant, cushioning tyres, the Cruiser is primarily a road scooter and performs best on smooth ground. I’d steer clear of venturing too far off-road if you want to make the most of what it has to offer.

For the price point, I was really happy to see that the Cruiser came with dual semi-hydraulic disc brakes. This means you’ll be able to achieve smooth, controlled braking that is perfectly geared towards keeping you safe. You’ll be able to rely on the brakes time and time again.

When riding at night, the Cruiser has got you covered. It features a bright front headlight, as well as rear and sidelights. It also comes with turn signals, which are key to keeping you and other vehicles and pedestrians safe.

The cockpit is outfitted with a standard LCD display which monitors your speed, mileage, ride mode, and battery. You’ll also be able to set your cruise control and flick between various power settings. The Cruiser comes with a finger throttle as standard, however, if you prefer to use a twist or thumb throttle you have the option to upgrade. I find thumb throttles more ergonomic.

For a commuter scooter, the Cruiser is a little on the heavy side. At 23.6 kg, you might struggle to lift it swiftly onto public transport or carry it upstairs. However, thanks to the folding handlebars, it has one of the most compact frames, folding down to dimensions of 49” x 10” x 14”. This is perfect for storing under your desk or in the corner of your living room.

Overall the Emove Cruiser is an excellent commuter option that you’ll be able to rely on no matter what. For £1,249, the premium features on offer are a steal and it’s perfect for hitting urban streets and weaving in and out of city traffic.

Half of the excitement with electric scooters is that they’re just so darn fun to ride and trust me, the Apollo Explore definitely ticks that box. This is perfect for long-range city cruising, delivering the exact amount of power and speed you need without veering into the extreme scooter bracket.

It might only have one motor, but the Explore makes the most of it. It has a peak output of 1400W that allows you to hit a top speed of 31 mph. If you’re a city commuter looking to amp up your daily work run, the Explore won’t disappoint.

It’s also one of the best single-motor scooters out there for climbing hills. It can tackle slopes of up to 20%, which is on the steep end for the majority of city dwellers. Plus, Its ability to reach 15 mph in around 3.5 seconds is pretty impressive thanks to its snappy acceleration. Okay, it might not be powerful enough to rival its dual-motored cousins (Apollo Pro Ludicrous and 52V), but if this is your first scooter I can guarantee you’ll get a thrill from it.

Gone are the days when you have to cut your urban adventures short because of a blinking battery light. The Explore delivers a top range of 34 miles so you can cruise until your heart’s content. The Explore’s battery contains Dynavolt cells which, although not as well-known as LG, perform to a similar standard. You tend to find this type of battery used most frequently on motorcycles.

The Explore comes with two charging options. The standard charger will allow you to reach full battery in around 8 hours, but if you choose to purchase another charger for an additional £59, you can cut that down to a mere 4 hours. 4 hours for 34 miles is outstanding when you consider that some budget scooters take the same amount of time but deliver less than half the mileage.

Like other scooters in the Apollo range, the Explore excels when it comes to rider comfort. The 10” pneumatic tyres roll over bumps for a velvety-smooth riding experience. Their wider surface area, combined with the spacious Apollo-branded foot deck, keeps you feeling secure and stable, supporting riders of up to 120 kg. The pneumatic tyres also perform well in wet weather. Combined with the scooter’s IP54 waterproof rating, the Explore can be safely ridden in light showers (although I would advise against riding in the rain).

The Explore glides effortlessly over smooth roads, and it can even deal with those that are heavily pitted with potholes. This is down to the dual spring suspension in the rear and additional spring suspension up front. These do a decent job of absorbing hard shocks and if you’re the sort of rider that likes to hop the curb or venture along shaded forest trails, the Explore won’t hold you back.

No matter where you decide to take this scooter, there’s one thing you can rely on: the robust front and rear disc brakes. These have strong braking power so you can always bring the Explore to a halt safely. The Explore also has a regenerative electric brake which slows the motor down whilst the disc brakes deal with the wheels. This is a great setup in case one of your brakes fails and you need to stop quickly.

Speaking of safety, this scooter comes into its own when the sun sets. As soon as twilight hits, the Explore lights up. It features front and rear taillights, as well as brightly coloured deck lights. It has an LED strip along the neck which gives off some serious sci-fi vibes too but if you want to ride at night regularly, invest in a stronger headlight to illuminate the path ahead.

In addition to the slick lights, the LCD cockpit has everything you need to monitor your speed and battery stats, and if you get tired of gripping the finger throttle, initiate cruise control to give yourself a break. You can also use the display to operate your lights, switch between power modes, and alter some of the base settings such as whether the Explore functions as a kick-and-go scooter or has instant acceleration.

Despite being geared towards the commuter, the Explore is too heavy to be considered truly portable. At 23.6 kg, carrying it up flights of stairs could be difficult. However, thanks to the telescopic stem and folding handlebars, the Explore folds down to a compact size when collapsed, meaning it can easily be stored under a desk or in the boot of your car.

For just £1,145, the Apollo Explore is a great all-rounder that’s perfect for someone who wants a fun-filled ride but doesn’t need as much power as the Apollo Pro range. Plus, it comes with a 24-month warranty, making it ideal for beginners.

Did you think that Mini Motors only made outrageously fast scooters for the more advanced clientele? Well let me break the good news: they also design entry-level scooters that are just as high quality as their performance models. The Speedway Leger is one of the best examples of this.

The Leger has been designed with the commuter in mind, so it’s great to see a Mini Motors scooter that has a more manageable weight. At 20.4 kg, it’s easier to fold and carry around with you. It’s at the top end of what I’d consider truly portable, but it’s a big improvement on the Speedway 5. The folding handlebars also make it compact enough to store conveniently at your destination.

Rest assured that the 1360W high-torque motor can still pack a punch though. The top speed of 28 mph gives you the choice of sticking in the bike lane or venturing out onto the road to keep pace with urban traffic. Either way, the Leger will blend in seamlessly.

Do you live in a hilly area? No worries. The Leger is a bit of a slope-crusher and can easily conquer 27% inclines thanks to the power behind its single motor. Even when you are storming up steep hills, you won’t find this scooter rattling or creaking under the strain. Mini Motors makes some of the sturdiest, most reliable scooters and the Leger is no exception. It’s specifically built to resist the hard knocks of daily use.

The Leger is an urban creature, and, as Mini Motors claims, it’s the perfect companion to unlock areas of your home town that you didn’t know about. With the high-quality Panasonic battery, you can keep going for up to a maximum 30 miles on a single charge (realistically though, you’ll see about 20 of those 30 miles). If you’ve got a short to medium commute this is ideal and it takes just 6 hours to juice up from flat.

The Leger is also fairly comfortable to ride. It has 8.5” pneumatic tyres as well as front and rear spring suspension, both with shock absorption that soaks up bumps from the ground below. It can even handle those pesky potholes that litter most roads. You’ll be able to ride in style without worrying about losing your balance or feeling every rock beneath you. For a commuter scooter, the ride quality is up there with the best but inferior compared to more advanced scooters that feature larger tyres and more receptive suspension systems.

As with all electric scooters, safety is the biggest concern. The Leger features a regenerative electric rear drum brake with optional ABS (anti-lock braking systems). This is a smart choice on behalf of Mini Motors as it makes the scooter more affordable and drum brakes are famously much lower maintenance than other brake types. However, they aren’t as good as mechanical disc or hydraulic brakes, although they’re still responsive enough to give you good control.

If you find yourself riding at night, the Leger comes with ample lighting to keep you safe. It features a strong headlight as well as tail and brake lights. Most importantly, it comes with the same side logo light that was such a unique feature on the Speedway 5. At first, I thought the sidelight was useless, but fun to have. However, I’ve come to realize that it has more weight behind it than just looking cool. It helps to illuminate you as you glide the city streets at night far beyond what the front and rear lights can achieve, enhancing your overall safety. If I had the choice of being illuminated from all angles, as opposed to just the front and rear, I’d choose the former every time.

The Leger also features the standard Mini Motors LED control centre, where you can set your cruise control, braking strength, and power, whilst also maintaining visibility over your ride stats. You can also disable the ABS from the display if you wish.

The Speedway Leger is a great entry into the world of performance electric scooters and ideal if you’re looking for something that channels the essence of the Speedway 5 but don’t want to pay the extra cash for it.

Meet the Apollo City, Apollo’s version of an ultra-portable, commuter scooter, specifically designed for the city streets.

Thanks to its 600W motor and 800W peak output, the Apollo City isn’t shy about leaving the crowds behind. It has a top speed of 25 mph which is ideal for an urban environment and you might find that in some cases, this scooter is faster than residential speed restrictions. It can reach 15 mph in just over 4 seconds and can climb 15% hills with confidence. The City will easily be able to keep up with cars, whilst leaving cyclists trailing in its wake. It’s the perfect way to supercharge your commute.

Speaking of charging, the battery on the City is made using Dynavolt cells. If these sound unfamiliar to you, it’s because you’ll usually find them on motorcycles rather than scooters. They’ve been shown to perform just as well as LG batteries and are responsible for the City’s top range of 28 miles, although, taking into account realistic riding conditions, you’re likely to see closer to 22 miles.

When you need to recharge, purchasing the additional fast charger will result in a 2 to 3 hour turnaround time, whereas the regular charger will take between 4 and 5 hours to hit full battery. This is still relatively quick considering budget scooters take just as long but only last for 12-16 miles.

No commuter scooter is worth its salt without being easily portable. Thankfully, the City weighs just 17.7 kg so can be lifted and carried with one hand. Taking it up flights of stairs shouldn’t prove too challenging either. The telescopic neck and folding handlebars mean that it is extremely compact when folded so it can be stored easily on public transport, under your desk, or in the corner of your living room.

Like all Apollo Scooters, rider comfort is a priority. The roomy trademark blue and black deck is spacious enough for riders of up to 118 kg to find their balance and is wide enough if you want to purchase and set up the additional seat attachment. The handlebars can also be adjusted to suit a variety of different grips.

The ride quality of the City is very good. This is down to the combination of 8.5” pneumatic tyres and a responsive suspension system. You’ll find dual spring shock absorbers in the rear and an additional one in the front so that you can handle hits from all angles. This provides a smooth ride for optimum comfort. Plus, the deck has ample clearance which is perfect if you’re going to be launching yourself off high curbs or performing small jumps.

Due to the suspension, the City (as you can tell from the name) is primarily an urban scooter, designed for riding on tarmac or paved surfaces. It can handle some light off-roading now and again but it’s not suitable for really rough trails. This is partly because the pneumatic tyres are more susceptible to flats, but also because the acceleration and torque perform better on smooth roads.

For a scooter that costs £849 it’s impressive that the City comes equipped with three brakes: a front disc brake as well as a rear drum brake and regenerative electric brake. The disc brake provides good precision, whilst the drum brake is low maintenance and performs well in wet weather. For that extra braking power, you can rely on the regen brake to slow the motor, working effectively with the wheel brakes to bring you to a stop.

The City is also well equipped to protect you when riding at night thanks to its many lighting options. It features front and rear lights as well as under deck lighting too. Together, these make you visible to other road users. However, as with most scooters in this price bracket, I’d advise buying stronger additional lighting to help illuminate the path more clearly.

The Apollo City has the perfect combination of speed, range, weight, and portability which is why it is the best electric scooter for commuting. Not only do you get a ton of premium features, like the command centre that lets you track key riding stats, as well as configure your scooter’s settings, like choosing between kick-and-go or instant acceleration riding modes, but you also have the option to activate cruise control, all at an affordable price. Plus, when it comes to Apollo you know that you’re getting quality through and through.

For all their fun features, the biggest benefit of an electric scooter is that it has the potential to revolutionize your commute, allowing you to swap sweaty, crowded public transport for the freedom of the open air. The Horizon’s lithium-ion 13Ah battery means it can travel up to 25 miles on a single charge. On a scooter that only costs £690, this is a standout feature because it brings medium-length commuting to those of us with tighter budgets. For many people, this will mean cutting out public transport entirely which is a big bonus.

Wave goodbye to public transport and say hello to cruising along city streets at 25 mph. This is fast enough to give first-time riders a thrill but within the limits to keep you feeling safe and in control. The Horizon 13 comes with a 500W motor, but its peak output of 800W is the main driving force which allows it to master hills of up to 15%.

Whether you’re racing up hills or zooming along on the flat, the Horizon 13 delivers good enough ride quality for riding on smooth tarmac. This is thanks to the shock absorption of the front spring and rear hydraulic suspension. At the end of a long ride, you won’t be feeling any aches in your legs, hips, or back. This is also down to the front 8.5” air-filled tyre. This cushion of air helps the Horizon to glide over most obstacles and has great traction on a variety of surfaces.

Because of the great price, you’ve got to expect some compromises somewhere, and one of these is the rear solid rubber tyre. This has no shock absorption and reduced traction so it can affect ride quality. Thankfully the suspension makes up for this, but don’t expect it to perform well over rough terrain. On the upside, though, solid tyres will never be at risk of getting a flat and they require minimal maintenance.

Similarly, the rear drum brake doesn’t require much attention, and you can leave it alone to do its job. Drum brakes aren’t my preferred braking mechanism, however, they still deliver good stopping power. It would be better if the Horizon 13 came with a brake on each wheel, but the regenerative brake lends a hand by slowing the motor. Realistically though, single braking is to be expected on a scooter at this price.

Situated next to the trigger-style throttle, the built-in LCD display is very similar to others you’ll find on most electric scooters, allowing you to track your speed, riding mode, and battery to name but a few. You can also control your lights from here. The Horizon 13 comes with three front LED lights and two rear lights that blink when you brake. These are sufficient to make you visible to other road-users but I’d recommend purchasing additional lights to extend how far you can see in the dark.

For a commuter scooter, the Horizon 13 is just slightly on the heavy side at 19 kg but this is forgivable because of how compact it can be. This is thanks to three design factors: the folding handlebars, telescopic neck, and collapsible stem. This reduces the scooter’s dimensions down to 38 “ x 7” x 14”, making the Horizon easy to lift.

The Horizon is a good entry-level scooter that’s perfect if you’re looking for something to spice up your commute and get you from A to B reliably. It might lack some of the frills and fancies other commuter scooters offer, but the ride quality you get for under £800 is top-notch. It’s built with practicality in mind which is why it excels at what it does.

Let’s just talk about wheels for a minute. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a big fan of a scooter with chunky wheels, which is why it’s no surprise that the WideWheel Pro has made it onto my list of overall best scooters. As the name suggests, those tyres take centre-stage giving us a scooter that looks great and channels some of that chunky attitude seen on high-end models.

Measuring 8” x 3.9”, the tyres on the Pro are, unsurprisingly, some of the widest you can get. They’re airless, but instead of being solid rubber, they’re filled with polyurethane foam which makes the ride quality much softer and provides more cushioning.

Their increased width works to keep you balanced and stable, so you’ll feel more like you’re floating – this is almost completely unique to the Widewheel Pro, with the Dualtron X 2 being the only other scooter that compares. The only thing to bear in mind with this kind of riding experience is that the wider tyres can make sharp turns more difficult and less precise. It might not be as nimble as other scooters, particularly those designed specifically for commuting.

This being said, the Widewheel Pro is still a fantastic road scooter thanks to the dual 500W motors which allow it to reach a top speed of 26 mph. This is fast enough for it to be a great urban option, able to keep pace with traffic as well as being at home on slower pathways. The acceleration is fast and responsive, but you’ll feel in control at all times.

The added motor also means increased torque and horsepower, so the Pro can tackle hills of up to 30% with no problems. This makes the Pro one of the best hill climbers out there, perfect for those of you living in cities where steeper slopes are a regular landscape feature.

The Pro’s inbuilt suspension will help you tackle obstacles in your way. The front and rear spring suspension will soak up most bumps and vibrations but you’ll find that ride quality is much better on smooth roads. However, this is the ultimate scooter for forest trails and mountain paths.

Something I love about the Pro is that, despite its smaller price tag, it still comes with a dual braking system. The front and rear disc brakes are very sensitive and deliver a short braking distance so you can come to a halt in almost all circumstances.

When it comes to riding at night, the Pro features bright front headlight and rear lights which are perfect for making you visible to other riders. However, if you’re planning to go out regularly in the dark and ride in areas with poor lighting, I’d recommend purchasing some additional lights to help you see further.

Featuring a 48V 15Ah battery, the WideWheel Pro has a realistic range of 20-22 miles. If you opt to ride in Eco mode, you’ll be able to increase this by a couple of miles, but engaging the Power setting will knock it down quite a bit. The mileage on offer is ideal for weekend exploration and short-medium commutes. When you need to recharge, the Pro will take around 8 hours to juice up.

The Pro is a little on the heavy side to be considered a scooter built for portability, its weight of 24.5 kg makes it difficult to carry for long periods. That being said, once folded it’s surprisingly compact thanks to the foldable handlebars. This means it can be collapsed and stored out of sight when you no longer need it.

Reinforced for extra durability, the build quality of the Pro is second-to-none. You don’t need to worry about the frame rattling when you’re racing along at top speed or scaling mountain trials. Although the deck is quite narrow, it can support riders of up to 100 kg.

Similar to other scooters in this price class, the Pro comes with a smart display that shows your speed, total mileage, and voltage. You’ll also be able to switch gears easily, going between the Eco and Power modes. For those days when your hands are fed up with holding onto the trigger, initiate cruise control, sit back, and enjoy the ride.

If you’re concerned about the security of your scooter, the Pro is also available in the CLE version which comes with a key lock. This means your scooter can’t be powered up without the key, although it can still be rolled away.

The WideWheel Pro is all about delivering a fun and thrilling ride, which is what makes it so good for casual leisure riders. The acceleration and floating ride experience make it a great weekend explorer for those of you who want to spice up riding style traversing urban and off-road terrain.

So you need a scooter that’s an excellent commuter and is great value for money? Don’t worry, you’re not asking too much. In fact, I think I’ve got just the thing to tick all your boxes: The Turboant X7 Pro.

My favourite thing about the X7 Pro is the range on offer. This scooter can manage around 30 miles on a single charge which beats the likes of more expensive models. This makes it the perfect choice if you’re planning long journeys. It takes between 4 and 6 hours to fully recharge, which isn’t bad considering the maximum miles available.

There’s more to this scooter than meets the eye, like the fact the battery is not positioned internally, but has instead been fitted to the neck of the scooter. This might seem like a strange design quirk, but, it’s so that riders, like you, can remove the battery from the scooter completely. Not only does this mean you’ve got the option of charging the scooter as a unit or the battery by itself, but if you need more miles on the clock, you can purchase a second battery to extend the range even further. This adds flexibility to the Turboant X7 Pro that its competitors lack, especially for only £434. It’s also a nifty security feature – who’s going to want to steal a scooter without its battery attached?

Of course, the total mileage you get is dependent on how aggressively you ride, which is why the X7 Pro comes with 3 riding modes – beginner, eco, and sports – each with a different speed limit. Beginner will keep you below 6 mph, with eco taking you up to 10 mph and sports allowing you to reach the X7 Pro’s top speed of 20 mph. It also has a nifty energy saver mode. This means that after 10 minutes of no activity, the main controls will shut the scooter down to help preserve the battery even further.

The X7 Pro’s top speed is powered by a 350W motor, which makes this scooter pretty zippy once it gets going. The top speed is an ideal pace for commuting and the motor is strong enough to propel you up hills with a 15% grade. This is pretty impressive for a single motor scooter, and excellent news if your commute isn’t as flat as you’d like.

I’ve tested both the Turboant X7 Pro and its predecessor, the X7. The X7 was a joy to ride but with the additional power and range (16 vs 30 miles), as well as larger tyres (8.5” vs 10”), Turboant has pulled the X7 Pro out of the bag. I’d go as far as to say it is a Xiamoi M365 killer (the M365 used to be the world’s most popular scooter).

When it comes to riding quality, the large 10” air-filled tubed tyres do a great job of providing cushioning against bumps and cracks underfoot. This is crucial considering that this scooter doesn’t have any inbuilt suspension. For this reason, I’d stick to smoother roads when you can – even with the wheels, you still feel the more gruelling terrain you ride over.

The X7 Pro comes with a triple braking system which is especially impressive on a scooter that can be snapped up for under £600. Most models at this price (and some more expensive options too) struggle to incorporate a single decent braking mechanism, let alone three. The X7 Pro features an electronic throttle control as well as a disc brake and foot brake which combine to deliver a combined braking distance of 5 meters. The throttle control allows you to coast to a stop, whereas the combination of the disc brake and foot brake can deliver a controlled stop when you need it.

Commuter scooters need to be light and portable. Weighing 15 kg, the X7 Pro is both of these things, despite its very solid construction and thick, sturdy stem. It folds down quickly and neatly, so storing it under a desk or lifting it onto public transport is simple and stress-free. For some smaller hands, the battery position on the stem might make it tricky to grip when carrying, but for most this shouldn’t pose a problem.

If you find yourself riding in the dark, you can switch on the 3W LED headlight as well as the very bright rear red taillight, which also doubles as a brake light. The combination of these does a good job of making you more visible as well as brightening the path ahead, but for true nighttime riding, additional lighting would be needed.

The lights can be controlled from handlebars, where you’ll also find the Smart LED screen that shows your riding stats including battery and speed. The ergonomically designed throttle combines the controls to power the scooter on and off, activate control cruise control, and swap between riding modes.

For the price you pay, the Turboant X7 Pro delivers exceptional value for money. Thanks to its long mileage, portability, robust build (including its IPX4 waterproof rating), and premium features like the LED display and cruise control, it holds its own against more expensive models and is perfect if you need to keep your costs below £600.

The Horizon 13 is one of the most well balanced electric scooters, but what if I told you there was an alternative model out there but for around £90 less? Let me introduce you to the Horizon 10.4. This scooter is almost identical to its older sibling making it a more affordable option, but with a few small compromises.

The biggest difference you’re going to see between both models is the most obvious one: the range. This version of the Horizon features the 10.4 battery which is the smaller of the two. However, this isn’t a significant handicap, with the 10.4 offering a maximum range of 20 miles. For many riders, this is more than enough, making the £90 saving well worth it.

One thing that’s stayed the same is the powerful 500W motor which gives the Horizon its impressive torque and acceleration thanks to the peak output of 800W. This is also what allows this scooter to reach a maximum speed of 25 mph, perfect for nipping out of the bike lane and weaving between the urban streets when you need to.

It might only have a single motor, but the 10.4 sure does pack a punch, which is why you’ll be able to take on hills with a 15% hill grade as well as flat off-road terrain like parks. This might not be such a big deal for you if you live in a relatively urban area, but it gives you the extra flexibility to go out exploring on the weekends.

The ride quality on the 10.4 is identical to that on 13, by which I mean it’s pretty good. The front spring and rear hydraulic suspension system is a welcome addition to a scooter at this price point and does a decent job of protecting you from any harsh hits.

This is particularly important as the Horizon 10.4 features an 8” solid rear tyre. This is a great way of minimizing the risk of flats, however, traction and cushioning aren’t as good. Luckily, the suspension is more than able to pick up the slack here, helped along by the front 8.5” air-filled tyre that has additional shock absorption abilities. For the most part, you’ll find the ride to be smooth and comfortable, but just watch out on more heavily pitted terrain.

My biggest gripe when it comes to the Horizon scooters is with the brakes. The 10.4 comes with a single rear drum brake and regenerative brake which slows the motor. Although the regen brake is helpful, I’d rather have a braking mechanism on both wheels, especially when it comes to drum brakes which aren’t quite as good as mechanical disc or hydraulic brakes. Saying that, this is mostly down to personal preference and the drum brake will still do the job of bringing you to a stop. They’re also more resistant to dirt and water, as well as being very low maintenance which is a bonus if you are a busy person and don’t have the time to wipe down your scooter.

With a trio of front lights and double rear lights, the Horizon 10.4 is well-lit for riding in the dark. You’ll certainly be visible, and the inbuilt lights will do a decent job of helping you see the path before you. As usual, though, I’d recommend investing in additional lighting just to be on the safe side if you’re going to be out at night a lot. You can control the lights from the handlebars, where you’ll also find the LCD display.

Weighing 18.1 kg, the Horizon 10.4 is a little on the heavy side to be used as a commuter scooter, but thanks to the slightly smaller battery it’s 0.9 kg lighter than its big bro, the Horizon 13. Despite the weight, you should be able to carry it in one hand for short stints, especially because the folding mechanism is fairly intuitive. The foldable handlebars also mean it’s very compact when collapsed, so it's easy to store. If you do struggle with it, you can always purchase the optional carry strap or trolley wheels to make it easier.

At £, there’s no disputing that the Horizon 10.4 is great value for money and a good choice if you want a scooter that can handle light off-roading alongside urban streets. Like the Horizon 13, it’s been purpose-built to get you from A to B and it does it well.

If you’re a commuter looking to revolutionize your usual commute or just a beginner who wants to take that first step into the world of electric scooters, sometimes the choice can be baffling. If this is the case for you, the Apollo Light should be high on your list of contenders. Let me show you why.

This scooter is light in name and nature, claiming the spot as the lightest and most compact machine in the Apollo range. It weighs 16.8 kg so you won’t have any problems taking it onto public transport or carrying it in one hand, especially with the added carry handle. When folded, its collapsible stem and folding handlebars reduce its dimensions down to 39” x 6.9” x 15.7” so it’s the perfect size for storing under your desk or in the boot of your car.

It might be smaller than other Apollo scooters, but the Light can still pack a punch with its 320W motor. Its peak output of 500W allows you to hit a top speed of 22 mph. You won’t have to compromise on power in favour of portability. Its acceleration is pretty snappy and you’ll be able to reach 15 mph in just over 6 seconds. Hills won’t pose too much of an issue either – the Light is powerful enough to tackle hills with a 10% slope grade, although it will struggle on very steep hills.

The Light also comes with 3 different gear settings, each of which has a speed threshold to help you control your ride. If you stick in first gear, you’ll be able to reach 8 mph, which is ideal if you’ve never been on an electric scooter before and need to find your feet. When you move up to 2nd gear, this increases to 15 mph whilst the 3rd setting unlocks that top tier of 20 mph and above.

Not only does this give you more control, but it also helps you to conserve battery too. The Light contains Apollo’s preferred Dynavolt cells. Despite being reserved mostly for use on motorcycles, this type of battery has been shown to perform to roughly the same standard as LG and will allow you to ride for up to 22 miles on a single charge whilst in Eco mode. However, it is worth bearing in mind that under more realistic riding conditions, this is reduced to around 16 miles, which is still fairly reasonable.

Once the battery runs flat, the Light has two charging options. The standard charger takes 4.5 hours to reach a full battery recharge, but the fast charger reduces this down to 2 hours. 2 hours for a 16-22 mile range is unheard of – no other scooter comes close.

When it comes to safety, the Apollo Light comes with a dual braking system, featuring a rear drum brake and electric regenerative brake. Although drum brakes aren’t my preferred braking system, they do require 3x less maintenance than other brake mechanisms. With the regenerative brake, the Light has a fairly respectable braking distance of 4.2 meters. If you’d rather a scooter with a triple braking system, take a look at the Apollo City instead.

If you’re choosing a scooter for commuting, you need it to be comfortable to ride. Luckily, the Light’s full suspension system means that you won’t have to worry about this being an issue. It comes with dual spring shock absorption in the rear and single spring suspension in the front to protect you from impact when riding across small potholes or uneven surfaces.

This is helped along by the 8.5” front pneumatic tyrewhich delivers a plush and comfortable ride. The rear tyre is solid rubber which means it has less traction than the front one, but it also reduces the risk of getting a flat. The fact that the double suspension is located here takes a lot of pressure off this solid tyre and protects you from any jarring hits at the same time.

Like most good electric scooters, the Light features front and rear LED lights which help to make you more visible in the dark, however, it would be worth purchasing additional lights if you’re going to be riding at night regularly. The inbuilt lighting can be controlled from the power settings on the handlebars, next to the LCD display which shows key riding stats. From here, you can also operate the additional cruise control as well as tweaking settings such as whether the Light is a kick-and-go scooter, or has instant acceleration.

For £699, the Apollo Light is a great scooter for beginners who want to get out and about without any fuss. The forged aluminium frame has a waterproof rating of IP54 and features the trademark black and blue, anti-slip deck seen on all Apollo scooters. It comes with an excellent warranty and great customer support too which is a big advantage for first-timers.

This list wouldn’t be complete without at least one entry from electric scooter giants, INOKIM. These guys design and build some of the best scooters out there, and the INOKIM Light 2 is a great example of this. It’s a lightweight scooter with a unique, premium feel, however, this is reflected in the price.

The real strength of this scooter lies in its portability. It weighs 13.6 kg, so is easy to carry and lift. It’s also incredibly compact thanks to the stem and folding handlebars which reduce it down to 37.4” x 14.2” x 9.8” when collapsed.

Despite its small stature, the Light 2 is well-known for its excellent build quality, as are all scooters from INOKIM. Available in 5 different colours, all components are purpose-built to fit together seamlessly and the attention to even the smallest construction detail is what sets it apart from other models and makes it a luxury scooter. You can rest easy knowing that this scooter is durable and reliable.

In addition to projecting premium quality, a contributing factor to the build quality this is the inclusion of a top-of-the-range LG battery. This is one of the best battery types available and as a result, you can expect the Light 2 to survive charge after charge after charge. It gives the scooter a top range of 20 miles, which is very good considering the Light 2’s smaller size and weight. When it comes to recharging, you’ll only have to wait between 4 and 5 hours until you’re back out on the road again.

Whilst the Light 2 might not be the fastest scooter, its top speed of 21 mph is perfect for short to medium commutes. Thanks to the 350W motor, acceleration feels smooth and leisurely, even on small slopes.

The 8.5” x 2” air-filled tyres do a good job of rolling over obstacles in your path and acting as cushions of air, absorbing harsh shocks keeping you comfortable. This is especially important because, unlike other scooters in the same price bracket, the Light 2 doesn’t have any suspension. As a result, I’d recommend only riding this scooter on well-maintained roads and paths. Although the tyres do a good job, poor terrain is too challenging for them.

In addition to plush tyres, the Light 2 also comes with a spacious, anti-slip deck giving riders up to 100 kg plenty of room to find their footing and balance. Plus, the scooter has a lower centre of gravity because it has a smaller clearance. You won’t be able to do any extravagant curb jumps, but you will find your ride to be very stable and well-balanced.

INOKIM is well-known for designing scooters that are both safe and reliable, so it’s no surprise that the Light 2 features a dual braking system, with a drum brake working on each wheel. Because of this, you’ll find that the Light 2 has a short braking distance and can come to a halt quickly. Drum brakes aren’t my preferred braking type but they’re convenient for commuters because they require little maintenance.

It also comes equipped with front and rear LED lights that power on automatically when it gets dark. Although the lights are sufficient for boosting your visibility, I’d recommend getting some additional lights if you’re going to be riding regularly. You can control the lighting from the cockpit, alongside the ergonomic thumb throttle and the LCD display that allows you to see your speed and battery.

Given the quality of the manufacturing process and materials used in its construction, such as the LG battery, it’s no surprise that the Light 2 is a bit pricey, costing around £600. Its stylish design and slick finish make it perfect for young professionals who need to split their time between the daily commute, running errands, and weekend exploring. If you’ve got the budget and want a scooter with a great pedigree, as well as what can only be described as the most compact scooter, then the INOKIM Light 2 should be on your shortlist.

Are you eager to get into the electric scooter game but don’t have a casual £1,000 to drop? Don’t sweat it – you’re not the only one. There are plenty of models out there that will fit a budget under £400, but only a handful do the job well. One of these scooters is the GoTrax XR Ultra.

A highlight of the Ultra is that it features a 36V LG battery. This is very rare to see on a scooter below £400 because the battery is usually the first thing to suffer when trying to bring the price down. You can rest assured that this battery will last for years to come, so you’ll get the most out of your money. It gives the Ultra a maximum range of 16 miles (slightly less under realistic riding conditions) and will recharge fully in around 3 to 4 hours.

You’ll know by now that I’m a big fan of air-filled tyres, which is why it’s great that the Ultra comes with 8.5” pneumatics – perfect for shock absorption and cushioning your ride. They’ll allow you to tackle most road obstacles, but this scooter isn’t built for very rough terrain or off-roading. This is because the Ultra doesn’t come with any suspension. The tyres are great, but there’s only so much they can do on their own. Considering the price tag, this is a more than acceptable compromise.

As surprised as I was to review a budget scooter with air-filled tyres, I was even more shocked to find one with front regenerative braking and a rear mechanical disc brake, that when combined, provide fairly decent stopping power. The brakes aren’t the strongest and I’d like to have seen a brake on each wheel, however, the air-filled tyres have enough traction and grip to substitute for it. Besides, they are more than capable of bringing you to a controlled stop even when travelling at top speeds.

Made from aluminium and with a waterproof rating of IP54, the Ultra has a sturdy build quality that makes it feel reliable and supports riders of up to 100 kg. That’s impressive, considering it’s also very light. It weighs a mere 12 kg and is incredibly easy to fold and lift, making it the perfect companion to store and carry.

What’s most impressive about this budget scooter is the addition of premium features that transform it from simply being a means of transport that’ll get you from A to B, to a sleek accessory. It features a bright headlight and an LED display where you can monitor your speed and battery levels, as well as switch on your cruise control. Yes, you read that right. You can get yourself a scooter with cruise control for under £400 – impressive, I know.

However, as with all budget scooters, there are one or two shortfalls. Most notable, it doesn’t come with a rear light, opting for a reflective strip instead. This is disappointing because it doesn’t give you true visibility in the dark, but can be fixed with the purchase of additional lighting.

The GoTrax XR Ultra doesn’t claim to be the flashiest or fanciest of scooters, but what it offers exceeds its price tag. The Model One’s biggest selling point is the amount of time and consideration taken over its design. It isn’t just labelled as the iPhone of electric scooters because of its price tag; it’s earned it from the curve of its wheels to the very tips of its handlebars. Available in 4 colours and constructed from magnesium and Japanese TORAY carbon fibre (the very same thing Elon Musk uses in his Space-X rockets), its materials paint a glamorous picture whilst boasting anti-abrasive properties and an IP54 waterproof rating. They combine to produce a hard-wearing frame, but lightweight at the same time.

It channels some serious futuristic vibes helped along by the cockpit which feels like it’s modelled after something you’d find on the Millenium Falcon. From the central display, you can swap between the three speed settings (beginner, intermediate and advanced), as well as monitoring your speed and battery life.

You can also operate the front and rear headlights, both of which are bright enough to light up the road around you.

Its portability also can’t be faulted. With the single motor model weighing just 10.4 kg and the dual coming in at 12 kg, it’s incredibly easy to carry onto public transport or up numerous flights of stairs. Unagi makes the bold claim that the Model One is the first one-click folding scooter. Whether this is accurate or not, the patented steel hinge system folds and locks with – you guessed it – one click. What does this mean? Storing it is incredibly easy, and it’s compact enough to fit under your desk or in the back of your wardrobe.

The reduced weight on the Model One is fairly impressive given that it has two motors with a combined output of 500W. This means that it can reach a top speed of 17 mph, but it also gives it an added edge when it comes to acceleration. Whilst the acceleration is a far cry from high-performance scooters, putting the Unagi is Sports mode won’t disappoint. The second motor also gives the Unagi the ability to climb hills of up to 15%.

It’s worth mentioning that the single motor model costs less but it has slower acceleration and is poor at climbing even the slightest hill. If you opt for the Unagi, stick to the dual-motor version.

It doesn’t cope so well with rough and uneven surfaces. This is because it comes with 7.5” rubber tyres. However, you guessed it – Unagi has a trick up their sleeve. This being one of the most well-designed scooters out there, they aren’t your run of the mill solid tyres. Instead, they have been crafted with air pockets that spread throughout the circumference of the tyres to provide shock absorption whilst enabling the scooter to feel responsive to the road. This is crucial as the Model One doesn’t come with suspension. They’re not quite as good as pneumatics but they do the job, especially on well-maintained tarmac.

Whilst the Unagi is filled with wonderful, innovatively designed features I do have to bring this review back to reality and highlight that the lack of suspension is a big compromise to make. Other scooters, like the Apollo City and Horizon 13, both of which sit in the same price bracket, feature suspension systems that make their ride quality superior to the Unagi. This is an important factor to consider. To make it easy ask yourself whether you want style over substance. If the answer is yes, then opt for the Model One. If it is no, you’re better off with either of the two scooters mentioned above.

When it comes to brakes, this scooter has three: dual electronic anti-lock brakes and a foot brake. Together, they perform well, giving you the appropriate amount of stopping power, however, you need to use the foot brake if you want an abrupt stop. As a result, my preference lies with other scooters that have mechanical brakes as I feel I have more control over them.

One safety feature that I really like is the speed limiting function that will govern your speed as you roll downhill so that the scooter doesn’t ‘run away’ from you.

Unagi’s reputation for high build quality continues with the inclusion of an LG battery pack. Although these packs are the best in the business, it doesn’t mean you’re going to get a long-range but rather, a battery that’ll let you reach a maximum range of 15.5 miles and one that will last the test of time. The battery has longevity in its genes. Opting for the more aggressive Sports riding mode will cause the range, on a single charge, to reduce down to around 10 miles. When you need to recharge, the Model One will take around 4 to 5 hours to fully juice up.

At £899, the Unagi Model One isn’t a cheap option, but you probably already guessed that from how much attention has gone into the design of the scooter. It doesn’t require a ton of maintenance either, despite what its top tier aesthetic might lead you to believe. It’s effortlessly cool and the kind of scooter that you’ll want to brag to all your friends about.

There are plenty of scooter brands but not all of them are as well-known as Segway, the company responsible for bringing you the popular Ninebot and Xiaomi models, including the E25E.

The Ninebot E25E is specifically designed for commuters. It has been manufactured with top-quality materials and has a sleek, stylish aesthetic befitting the Segway legacy.

With one motion of your thumb on the ergonomic paddle throttle, the E25E’s 300W motor kicks into gear, propelling you up to its top speed of 15.5 mph. It might take a while to get there, but once you’re off and away, the E25E can be easily woven in and out of other vehicles or bike lane users.

Thanks to a maximum output of 700W, the E25E can also tackle hills of up to 10%, although riders at the top end of the 100 kg load limit will find the E25E crawling up steep hills. It’s worth noting that the speed and acceleration on this scooter are far from its standout feature, so if you’re the kind of rider that likes your practical commuter scooter to have a side serving of thrilling excitement, you might be left wanting more. However, if you’re just looking for something to get you from A to B in style, then the E25E is more than capable of the job.

The E25E is ideal for those of you with a short to medium commute and promises a range of 15.5 miles when riding in a low-speed setting. In reality, you’re likely to see about 10 miles, but considering it only takes 3.5 hours to recharge, you won’t have to wait long until you can hop back on.

The E25E comes with shock absorption in both the front and the rear, which helps to take the strain off the solid rubber tyres. Although they eliminate the risk of flats, solid tyres deliver a more jarring ride because they don’t provide as much cushioning as their pneumatic counterparts. They also lack good traction, which can make them less reliable when riding in wet weather or on loose surfaces. The shock absorbers help to pad out some of the impacts of everyday use and deliver a good ride quality on smooth roads, however, they are incapable of traversing rougher terrain.

Whilst, out of the box, the E25E doesn’t possess all the attributes to deliver a sublimely comfortable riding experience, it can be fitted with a detachable seat at an extra cost. The foam-padded cushion alongside the added seat post suspension and dual shock-absorbing balls underneath the core of the seat delivers a more comfortable riding experience.

There is one downside to the seat though, attaching it is not an on-the-go kind of job. It’s attached using four small screws rather than quick-release clips like you’d find on scooters like INOKIM Light 2. Once the seat is on, it’s on… at least until you’re ready to unscrew it again.

This scooter has undergone significant testing to make sure it has everything necessary to keep you safe. It comes with a smart battery management system to prolong the health of your battery, as well as a 1.5W, bright headlight, red rear tail light, and side-lights which not only play to the scooters aesthetics but keep you visible at night.

When it comes to brakes, the double braking system features an electric brake that slows the motor as well as a more traditional rear foot brake. The electric brake allows you to slow down smoothly and gradually, but if you need to come to an abrupt stop, you’ll have to stomp on the foot brake for a sharper effect.

You can also customize your ride (hello snazzy coloured deck lights), set your cruise control, and flick between the 3 available speed settings: limited, standard, and sport. The app connects to the handlebar display, where you can check your current ride stats with one glance.

It might not be the fastest or have the longest range (without the external battery, at least) but the Ninebot E25E comes from a brand with a long history of designing scooters you can rely on. The additional app gives it a technological edge most scooters don’t have. However, if you are looking for a scooter with a bit more of a thrill, I’d consider looking into the more powerful Horizon 13 which retails at a similar price.

Everyone loves a bargain, especially when the product your purchasing far surpasses your expectations in the first place. The GoTrax GXL V2, without a doubt, falls into that category with an amazing value for money that no other scooter can match.

Costing just £299, the V2 is the cheapest adult scooter. However, that doesn’t mean it has the worst performance. In fact, the V2 is capable of holding its own against more expensive budget models and it doesn’t compromise on many of the key elements that make electric scooters so great.

Featuring a 250W motor, the GXL V2 can reach a top speed of 15.5 mph, which is faster than the Ninebot E22E and matches the £399 Ninebot E25E. This motor size is typical of scooters in this price range, but it still manages to deliver solid acceleration, fast enough for beginners to feel comfortable with. It even has the added power to climb hills of up to 14 degrees, although it struggles when on the cusp of the upper incline limits, especially if you sit at the top end of the 100 kg weight limit.

You’ll often find that cheaper scooters opt for solid rubber tyres, simply because they cost less to manufacture than air-filled ones, but not the GXL V2. I was thrilled to see that this scooter comes with 8.5” air-filled pneumatics, giving it enough shock absorption to handle a bit more than your average smooth paving, including rougher urban terrain and lightly pockmarked surfaces – but, you will feel the impact if you ride over very shoddy roads. It is worth mentioning that the GXL V2 doesn’t come with suspension but this is to be expected given its price tag.

One of the most important parts of an electric scooter is its brakes – these can often be substituted for low-cost options that result in sub-par stopping power, especially in cheaper models. The GXL V2 has you covered though. Not only does it feature a dual braking system, which is very rare on a scooter at this price, but one of those brakes is a disc brake. In my opinion, these are better than drum brakes, so you can expect the GXL V2 to come to a halt smoothly and precisely, although it can also be severe when you need it to be. Combined with the front regenerative brake, there's enough braking power capable to control the scooter the at top speeds.

The GXL V2 has a maximum range of 12 miles, which is a little short, especially considering that you’ll see less than this if you ride at top speed or in the highest gear consistently. This being said, it will suit you if you are simply searching for a scooter to leisurely ride at the weekends or if you have a short commute / use public transport as part of your daily journey. It only takes around 4 hours to recharge too.

At 12 kg, the GXL V2 is light enough to carry in one hand easily. The one-step folding system is as easy to use as they come letting you collapse it whenever you need. This also makes it compact for storing in small spaces when you need to get it out of the way.

Its lightweight profile doesn’t compromise it’s structural integrity though. For a scooter that costs less than £300, the GXL V2 has been surprisingly well-made. It’s durable and well-balanced, so you can rely on it to handle daily use over a long period. It also comes with a water-resistant rating of IP54. This, combined with the pneumatic tyres, which perform well in the rain, means a little drizzle won’t put it off.

Like all good electric scooters, the GXL V2 comes with a digital display that shows your current speed and battery life. From the handlebars, you can also swap between your gears and set your cruise control. I have to admit, my jaw did drop a bit when I saw that you could get a scooter with cruise control for under £300. It’s just one of the many ways in which this scooter defies expectations.

The V2 also features a bright LED headlight which does a good job of making you visible to other road-users and illuminates the path ahead. It doesn’t have a tail light but instead features a rear reflector. For this reason, I’d recommend purchasing extra lights for night time riding.

This scooter speaks for itself. Built for commuter convenience, there’s a reason it’s one of the best-selling scooters. It delivers a whole host of advanced features wrapped up in a very affordable package. It’s one of the best adult budget scooters and worth considering if you’re looking for something that delivers a lot for a little.

Made by Segway, Ninebot scooters are known for their faultless build quality and top performance as commuter scooters. However, the Ninebot E22E strikes the balance to be used by younger riders.

So how fast can it go? The E22E has a top speed of 12.4 mph, which is admittedly a bit slower than cheaper scooters like the GoTrax GXL V2 and XR Ultra that have been specifically designed for adults. However, for young teenagers, it’s more than suitable.

Equipped with a silent 300W motor, the E22E has that extra punch of power necessary for it to be able to climb hills of up to 15%. You might find the speed lagging a bit on steep hills, but generally, this shouldn’t hold you back. The E22E also comes with 3 riding modes – cruise, standard, and sport – each of which has various speed thresholds. Cruise is ideal for conserving your battery life, whereas, unsurprisingly, Sport mode unlocks that top speed for more rapid riding.

The E22E offers a maximum range of 13.7 miles, which is ideal for shorter commutes to school or casual leisure riding. Although, riding in Sports mode will reduce your mileage significantly. However, the 3.5 hour recharge time is so small, you’ll barely notice having to plug your scooter in. You could charge it up whilst sitting in a coffee shop, watching the world go by.

If you’d rather have a bit more juice in the tank, like with other Ninebot scooters, you can purchase an additional battery pack to remedy this. This will extend the range to around 28 miles. Given the lower speed, it’s unlikely that you’re going to want to tackle long rides with the E22E, but with the extended battery attached, your max speed increases to 15.5 mph.

The E22E doesn’t come with any suspension, however, it does feature large 9” solid rubber tyres. Historically, this would have set alarm bells ringing, because solid tyres are infamous for their poorer ride quality, however, these aren’t any old rubber tyres. These are dual-density, which means they’re filled with a foam material. They’re on the softer side, so have better shock absorption and provide some damping against hard impacts, as well as being more balanced thanks to their increased circumference. That being said, they won’t do well on rough roads so stick to smooth, well-maintained pathways.

Like the GoTrax GXL V2, the Ninebot E22E is a budget scooter that has managed to include a dual-braking system. This consists of an electric brake:

Plus, a mechanical foot brake. The foot brake will deliver a more abrupt stop, whereas the electric brake is more moderate in its approach and a lot smoother. Combined, they’ll give you good braking control from 12.4 mph.

When it comes to Segway, you know that good build quality is a given. Manufactured from aviation-grade aluminium, the E22E is very well made and has a level of sturdiness that makes it capable of effectively withstanding daily use. The frame also sports a splash-proof IPX4 water-resistant rating, so riding through puddles won’t compromise your scooter.

Weighing 13.5 kg, it’s light enough for easy lifting which is handy if you’ve got a bunch of stairs between you and your destination.

As with other scooters in this range, the E22E comes with an integrated Bluetooth app, meaning you can connect your scooter to your phone to customize your preferences. This also allows you to set your cruise control and speed settings, as well as storing your ride data. You can view your current riding stats from the handlebar-mounted display. Not to mention, the bell – vital for letting other road-users know you’re coming through.

The E22E features a 2.5W front LED light as well as a tail light, both of which provide a degree of illumination when riding in the dark. As always, if you’re going to ride regularly at night or you’re the type of person to lose track of time, invest in brighter lamps to be on the safe side.

When it comes to price, the Ninebot E22E costs £339, which is fairly reasonable for the features on offer. The sleek, minimalist aesthetic, unique to Ninebot, combined with the first-time rider friendly top speed, will appeal to young teenagers.

If portability is high on your list of priorities, this next scooter will be right up your street. Made by INOKIM, often referred to as the founders of the electric scooter, the Mini 2 is all about condensing great performance into a small package.

Weighing just 10.4 kg, it matches the Unagi Model One as the lightest scooter. It is ideal if you’re a student wanting to commute to school or simply want to zip around the block on the weekend.

Thanks to the telescopic stem and easy folding mechanism, you won’t have to spend an age fiddling around to get it to collapse. A couple of clicks and you’ll have a nice, compact bundle, perfect for storing pretty much anywhere. Besides, the adjustable handlebar post not only adds to the portability factor but makes the Mini a formidable contender for young teenagers that are still growing and need a scooter that can match their growth spurts. It also has integrated trolley wheels, so you can roll it if you need to.

The lighter frame does mean that the Mini 2 has a reduced weight limit, and can only support riders of up to 75 kg. If you’re heavier than this, but still want the portability, check out some of the offerings from GoTrax. They weigh slightly more but are still lightweight.

Just because it’s small, doesn’t mean the Mini 2 hasn’t got any power behind it. The 250W brushless motor can reach up to 15 mph. The acceleration is good enough for first-time riders to get a buzz, but that’s not to say it’ll satisfy your appetite if you’re a bit of a speed fiend.

The 10-mile range on offer is less than you might be used to seeing on scooters in a similar price bracket, and certainly won’t be suitable if you’re searching for a long-range scooter that can withstand extended adventures. However, INOKIM are transparent about this, stating that the Mini 2 hasn’t been built for long journeys. Instead, it’s been designed to appeal to a smaller section of the market that is interested in portability over power and distance. In that regard, they’ve succeeded. Plus, with a short recharge of 3 to 4 hours, the smaller range shouldn’t hold you back too much.

In line with its reduced size, the Mini has the smallest tyres I have ever seen on a scooter outside of those on the GoTrax GKS. They measure just 6” in height with the front air-filled and the rear solid rubber. Because of their miniature size, the Mini 2 is incapable of catering to superior ride comfort but rather one that will get you by. Although the rear tyre is supported by the rear damper, it is unlike any other suspension system I’ve reviewed. The only way I can explain it is that it looks similar to a thick elastic band wrapped around the deck. Regardless, it does a half-decent job of dampening the terrain underfoot but isn’t responsive enough to protect you from a jarring ride. Having said that, if you stick to urban streets, the ride quality is sufficient.

When it comes to the brakes, the dual system, featuring a front electric and rear step on brake gives you enough control over the Mini 2. I’d recommend using both brakes together.

Disappointingly the Mini doesn’t come with an LED display so you can’t check your speed when riding, although it does come with a battery light indicator that can help you keep track of how much juice you’ve got left. However, it does have a USB charging port which is particularly handy for charging your mobile on the go.

The Mini 2 doesn’t have any lights either, which makes riding in the dark a bit of a no go. It does have reflective stickers, however, for this price, I’d expect a bit more. If you are going to be riding regularly at night, make sure to invest in some proper additional lighting.

The INOKIM Mini 2 may fall short in a few areas but it does an outstanding job of delivering on portability, durability, and the ability to customize the height of handlebars to cater to the growth spurts that so many young teenagers go through.

It would be unfair if only the adults were allowed to get in on the electric scooter fun, which is why I couldn’t compile a list like this without including at least one great scooter for kids. The GoTrax GKS is an affordable but seriously fun gadget that’ll keep your children entertained for hours.

There comes a point when a standard push scooter just doesn’t cut it anymore, which is when something like the GKS is perfect for cranking it up a notch. Thanks to the 150W motor, this scooter can reach a top speed of 7.5 mph. This delivers plenty of fun but has a safety lock which prevents the speed from going any higher. Although it’s suitable for children up to the age of 12, the top speed makes it particularly good for younger children who are just beginning to learn to ride.

This isn’t the only thing that makes this gadget a safe choice. Its starting system has also been designed to prevent any accidents or spills. The foot deck has 2 buttons on it, one at the front and one at the rear. To get started, your child has to step on the first button and push. Then, when they place their foot on the back button, the motor will engage.

This is great for a couple of reasons. Firstly, having a kick-start means that there’s no chance of accidental acceleration before your child is ready. Secondly, it allows them to make sure they’ve got their balance before they zoom off.

It also means that to kill the motor, all your child will need to do is remove their foot from the back button. Immediately, the scooter will begin to slow down, but to get that instant stop, the GKS also comes with a rear friction foot brake.

With a range of 4 miles, the GKS has plenty of go to keep your children entertained, and also means you’ll be able to take trips out as a family. Say hello to afternoon outings to the park, enjoying the summer sun, and maybe stopping for a quick picnic before riding back home.

When the GKS does run out of battery, it’ll take around 5 hours to complete a full recharge. This is the main drawback of this scooter and your little ones will be itching to get back out to continue their explorations.

Thanks to the 6” solid rubber tyres, the GKS can ride smoothly over pavements, absorbing any vibrations underfoot. It can even handle racing through short grass. This makes it perfect for whizzing around your local neighbourhood and I can guarantee your children will be the talk of the town. All of their friends will be queuing up to take their turn, especially when they find out it comes in 5 unique and funky colour combinations.

The lightweight frame weighs just 8.1 kg, which is perfect for small hands to grip and lift. This is especially important considering that the GKS doesn’t fold. It’s worth noting that it can support riders up to 70 kg, meaning it’ll last the test of time as your kids get older.

For £139.90, you get a lot for your money. The GoTrax GKS has a ton of features that guarantee a fun ride for children between the ages of 6 and 12. As soon as the box arrives, they’ll be desperate to get outside and test it. Thankfully, it’s very easy to assemble and they’ll be zooming around before you know it.
