1. GoTrax GXL V2

GoTrax GXL V2
Best Adult Electric Scooter Under £300

There’s a reason this scooter is a bestseller: it’s excellent value for money. For a mere £239, you can get yourself a scooter with pneumatic tyres, dual brakes, and sturdy, reliable build quality. This is, without a doubt, one of the best adult budget scooters and an ideal option if you’re looking for a machine to revolutionize your commute.

£239.00

GoTrax is the undisputed king of producing budget scooters that outperform their price tags, and the GoTrax GXL V2 is an excellent example of this. Costing just £239, you’ll be surprised by what the V2 has to offer in exchange for your hard-earned cash.

GoTrax GXL V2 Frame

The V2 shines as a portable budget commuter scooter. It’s been perfectly designed to get you from A to B without breaking your bank balance. The maximum top speed of 15.5 mph is ideal for weaving your way along busy city streets and although the 250W motor isn’t massive, its acceleration rate is fast enough for you to pull ahead of cyclists and pedestrians. It can also climb 14-degree inclines when you need to.

With a maximum range of 12 miles, this scooter isn’t designed to go for miles. Instead, it’s better suited for riders who want to stick to local exploration or only have a short journey to work. Alternatively, its reduced weight of 12 kg and the one-step folding system makes it an ideal companion for multimodal journeys. Lifting it onto public transport and stowing it discreetly is quick and easy so you won’t feel awkward squeezing your way through other commuters with a bulky and unwieldy scooter.

GoTrax GXL V2 Folded Frame

For a scooter that costs less than £300, the V2 delivers a surprisingly comfortable ride, especially given that it doesn’t come with any inbuilt suspension. This is all down to the V2’s plush 8.5-inch pneumatic tyres. Many budget scooters opt for solid tyres to keep costs down, so it’s pretty impressive that GoTrax fits the majority of its models with air-filled tyres instead. The benefits of these include shock absorption over rough paths and increased traction in wet weather, both of which are key to keeping you safe when riding.

GoTrax GXL V2 Front Air-Filled Tire

Whilst we’re talking about safety, let me highlight the other feature of the V2 that makes this scooter stand out compared to other budget offerings: its brakes. It comes with not one, but two brakes to deliver maximum stopping power to each wheel. At the front, you’ll find a regenerative brake with a disc brake in the rear. This is particularly impressive because, in my opinion, disc brakes are second only to hydraulics, and provide strong and efficient stopping power.

GoTrax GXL V2 Disc Brake

GoTrax takes your safety seriously, which is why they’ve invested a lot of time in designing a scooter that’s wallet-friendly and reliable at the same time. Despite its affordability, the V2 isn’t a flimsy scooter. Instead, you’ll find that it’s sturdy and has been built to last the test of time. It even comes with an IP54 water-resistant rating, which means it can withstand dust damage and light rain.

It also features an inbuilt digital display that is neatly integrated into the handlebars. From here, you can check your riding speed and battery as well as engaging the cruise control setting. Normally, I’d be shocked to see cruise control on a scooter this cheap, but given the other premium features the V2 offers, I’m not surprised they’ve added this indulgent touch.

GoTrax GXL V2 Handlebar Display

From the handlebars, you can also operate the bright front headlight, ideal for making you visible and lighting up the path before you. Unfortunately, the V2 doesn’t come with a rear light, instead featuring a reflector. This isn’t sufficient for regular nighttime riding, so I’d recommend you invest in extra lighting to boost your visibility.

If you’re looking for a scooter to unlock the streets of your local city, you’re going to need something that can easily navigate those busy urban arteries without breaking a sweat. Well, take a look at the Turboant X7 Pro. Even at the affordable price of £434, this scooter is well-matched to city living.

Turboant X7 Pro Unboxing & Review

A complete unboxing and review of the Turboant X7 Pro. See what the best electric scooter under £600 has to offer. From close-ups of the frame to talking through the impressive stats, this video will show you exactly what you can expect from the Turboant X7 Pro.

When you glance at the X7 Pro’s stats, it’s clear that its strength lies in the range it has to offer. This scooter can go for 30 miles on a single charge, which is almost 3 times that of the GoTrax GXL V2 and other similarly priced models. Even better, the X7 Pro’s battery is detachable. This means that when it comes to charging, you can choose to remove the battery from its position on the stem to recharge separately, or you can connect the scooter up as a unit. This makes the X7 Pro very versatile, but it also adds an added security feature. Removing the battery if you need to leave the scooter unattended for any length of time is a great way to prevent others from running away with it.

Turboant X7 Pro View From Above

Another major benefit of having a detachable battery is that it extends how far you can go, Imagine you want to take your X7 Pro out on an all-day city exploration. You leave the house with a full charge, but you’ve been riding for a while and suddenly notice your battery is almost flat. You won’t have enough power to get home. Luckily for you, you purchased a second battery pack and bought it along in your rucksack so after a quick switch, the X7 Pro has another 30 miles in it. This is excellent if you like to be out on your scooter until well after the sun has set, or you’ve got a longer-than-average commute.

Turboant X7 Pro Frame

It’s not just the X7 Pro’s extended battery life that’s impressive – its top speed of 20 mph also makes it a great choice for an urban explorer. Its 350W motor is slightly bigger than that of the GXL V2 so it has a stronger rate of acceleration and the ability to climb hills with a 15% incline. It comes with three different riding modes (beginner, eco, and sports), each with its speed limitations, to suit your riding experience and the demands of the road. Whilst riding in sports, you’ll find yourself able to hit 20 mph in a matter of seconds.

Turboant X7 Pro Throttle

One of my favourite things about this scooter is its large wheels. Featuring 10-inch air-filled tyres, the X7 Pro has some of the tallest wheels on the market, which gives the foot deck great ground clearance for jumps and hops. The tyres are plush enough to roll over most large obstacles, including potholes, and can absorb the shock of riding on rough surfaces. This means you can expect a smooth ride, which is impressive considering this scooter comes without suspension.

An affordable price tag shouldn’t mean you have to compromise on vital components like your brakes, and with the X7 Pro, you won’t have to. It features an awesome triple-braking setup, consisting of an electronic brake, rear disc brake, and foot brake. When used together, these can bring you to a stop in as little as 5 meters, meaning you can always feel confident and in control of your ride.

Turboant X7 Pro Rear Wheel and Disc Brake

At 15 kg, the X7 Pro is 3 kg heavier than the GXL V2, however, its frame is slightly beefier and the construction is very solid. It’s still manageable for commuting purposes and can be easily folded for storing. That being said, due to the battery’s position on the stem, it isn’t the easiest of scooters to carry, so you wouldn’t want to lift it for prolonged periods.

Like other electric scooters, it features a smart LED screen that shows your riding stats, as well as a bell and controls to operate your front and rear lights. Although these are good for making you more visible, I’d recommend purchasing additional lighting to help you see further when riding in the dark.

Turboant X7 Pro LED Display

The X7 Pro is purpose-built for commuting and long-range city exploration. It combines the best of speed, rider comfort, and robust build quality to withstand the challenges of everyday riding. There aren’t many scooters for under £600 that can deliver the mileage the X7 Pro does whilst also offering pneumatic tyres and a triple braking system. If you want a scooter that can keep up with your appetite for exploration, the X7 Pro is a great option.

Under £900

1. Horizon 13

Horizon 13
Best Adult Electric Scooter Under £900

If you’re looking to take a step up from basic budget scooters, the Horizon 13 could be your guy. Delivering a range of 25 miles and a top speed of 25 mph to match, this scooter dials up the power to take you across a variety of terrains and promises a comfortable alternative to traffic jams or hard public transport seats when getting you to and from your destination.

*We have converted the price to GBP for your convenience. Prices on the retailer website are in Euros but rest assured, we only recommend scooters that can be shipped to the UK.

£690.00 £733.00*

If you like the sound of the Turboant X7 Pro, but you need something with a bit more power under its belt, take a look at the Horizon 13. This scooter is awesome for longer commutes, especially those involving hills and trickier terrain.

Horizon Unboxing & Review

From its compact design, impressive load-bearing capability, and the perfect blend of spring and hydraulic suspension, join me as I give you an up-close and personal look at what the Horizon has to offer.

The main thing, other than the £690 price tag, that sets this scooter above other entry-level models is the increased power from its 500W motor. This allows you to reach a top speed of 25 mph, and with a peak output of 800W, all but the steepest urban hills (San Francisco, I’m looking at you) will be a breeze.

Horizon Outdoor Shot

It also promises more rapid acceleration, especially when you get going and hit your stride. You’ll be able to venture out of the bike lane if you wish and cruise alongside busy city traffic when you need to. If you’re a long-range commuter, this is going to be particularly important.

Speaking of range, you’re probably wondering how far the Horizon 13 can go on one charge. Well, you can expect to see a mileage of around 25 miles depending on how aggressively you ride. This is slightly less than the cheaper Turboant X7 Pro, however, the increased power on the Horizon 13 makes it more adept at swapping between road-riding, slower bike lanes, and gentle city paths. As a result, the type of commute it can handle is way more varied.

Horizon Handlebar Display

Commuter scooters are supposed to be ultra-portable so it’s surprising that the Horizon 13 weighs 19 kg, which is a whopping 4 kg heavier than the X7 Pro. However, generally speaking, you’ll still be able to lift it when you reach your destination, just not for long stints. Plus, with its triple folding mechanism, storing the Horizon 13 is easier than many other scooters. This is because everything that can fold, does. I’m talking handlebars and a telescopic stem that collapses over the deck with the pull of a single lever. This makes it incredibly compact and ideal for storing in a multitude of tight spaces.

Horizon Folded

While scooting you can guarantee that you’ll come across a variety of surface types. Hence why ride quality is key. Luckily, the Horizon 13 is designed to deflect discomfort, featuring an 8.5-inch front pneumatic tyre that provides great traction in poor weather conditions and helps to soak up any impacts caused by rolling over pesky obstacles.

In the rear, you’ll find an 8-inch solid rubber tyre, which has a poorer performance due to the fact it doesn’t deliver great traction and has almost zero shock absorption. However, it does reduce the need for constant tyre maintenance, as it is flat-resistant.

If the presence of a solid tyre has got you worried about ride quality, take a look at the 13’s suspension system. It’s made up of a front spring and rear hydraulic suspension which helps to take the strain off that back wheel and keep you comfortable. It diffuses the shocks from uneven terrain effortlessly so that at the end of the day, you won’t be feeling it in your joints.

Horizon Off Road

The Horizon 13 comes with a dual-braking system featuring a rear drum and regenerative brake to temper its faster speed and powerful motor. Although both brakes are positioned on the rear tyre, they’re still responsive and can reliably bring you to a quick stop. You’d see a greater performance if the braking pressure was spread across both wheels but the Horizon still gets the job done.

Horizon Handlebars

Drum brakes are also great for beginners because they’re dirt-resistant and low-maintenance, just like the 13’s solid back tyre. Because of this, alongside the sturdy build and substantial frame, novice and experienced riders alike won’t have to worry about their scooter falling to bits as they go. Riders up to 120 kg will feel safe and secure.

Like all good electric scooters, the Horizon 13 features lighting for nighttime riding, but in this case, you won’t find just a single front and rear light. Instead, this scooter features three front LED lights and two rear lights that also blink when you brake. Button lights decorate the deck of the scooter, too, increasing your visibility at night. All of this can be operated from the handlebar display where you can monitor your riding mode, speed, and battery level.

Horizon LED Lights

I’d recommend the Horizon 13 to anyone who’s looking for a commuter scooter that’s a step up from the more basic budget offerings. Its larger engine promises increased power and the higher top speed allows it to ride on a variety of different road types. Simply put, the Horizon 13 is a reliable and high-quality scooter, which is exactly what you want in a scooter with the primary purpose to get you from A to B daily.

Under £1,200

1. Speedway Leger

Speedway Leger
Best Adult Electric Scooter Under £1,200
City exploration and long-range commuting alongside a decent punch of power, the Speedway Leger is an awesome way of getting from A to B in style. Its strengths lie in its more gutsy, torque-generating motor that takes it to the level above scooters like the Horizon 13. Plus, it comes with a high-quality stamp of approval thanks to the reputation of its creator, Mini Motors USA.
£950.00

Made by scooter supergiants Mini Motors USA, the Speedway Leger has a highly-respected pedigree behind it. Classing the likes of the Dualtron range and the Wolf Warrior amongst its more expensive cousins, it’s not surprising that this is such a popular and high-quality scooter.

Mini Motors is infamous for designing scooters with tremendous power behind them and the Speedway Leger is no exception. Even though it only has a single motor, it’s capable of putting out a maximum of 1360W which is pretty ferocious in comparison to other models in this price bracket. This allows the Leger to hit top speeds of 28 mph in a matter of seconds. It comes with 3 different speed brackets, each with different speed caps to help quench your thirst for speed or conserve battery power when you need to.

Thanks to the awesome torque generation of the Leger, it’s able to climb hills with a 27% incline which is the equivalent of around 15 degrees. This is particularly impressive for a scooter that only has one motor and speaks to just how powerful the Leger is, especially considering it only costs £950.

Marketed as a scooter designed for comfortable commuting and extended exploration, it’s a good thing the Leger comes with a 30-mile range. Not only does this make longer journeys possible, but the battery’s top-of-the-range LG cells also mean this scooter will stand the test of time, promising lengthy city explorations for years to come. Plus, the higher-quality battery means you’ll only have to wait around 6 hours for a recharge, which isn’t too shabby.

If you’re planning to be out on your scooter all day, the last thing you want is an uncomfortable ride that makes your wrists and ankles ache an hour into the journey. Comfort is key, and this is something the Leger does very well. It has 8.5-inch pneumatic tyres that help to deliver awesome torque because of their increased traction, and their malleable surface does a great job of absorbing uncomfortable hits from rough terrain.

Speedway Leger 8.5 inch Pneumatic Tires

If you happen to ride over an obstacle that is too much for the tyres to handle, the front and rear spring suspension system has got you covered, taking the strain when you need it to. As a result, the ride quality of the Leger is buttery smooth and ideal for city riding. It’s not up to taking on full off-road conditions, but it’s more than able to handle any urban terrain thrown its way.

Even if you do find yourself crossing some particularly unforgiving tarmac, the Leger’s build quality will shine through. As with most scooters from Mini Motors, the Leger seems almost bomb-proof. Sturdy, robust, and built to last, the Leger aluminium alloy frame can support riders of up to 120 kg with not a creak or a wobble in sight.

The Leger features a single electric rear drum brake, which is low maintenance thanks to its dirt-resistant casing, It also delivers strong and reliable stopping power. As I’ve mentioned before, I prefer to see a brake on each wheel to achieve a sharper and faster stop but a single drum brake will still do the job. However, bear in mind that it might take slightly longer to come to a complete halt. Considering the premium status of the wheels, suspension, and battery, it would have been nice to see a bit more braking power to match the substantial power behind the Leger’s motor.

Speedway Leger Rear Wheel Fender, Drum Brake, and LED Lights

When it comes to riding at night, the Speedway Leger has got you covered. It has front and rear lights as well as brake lights to alert others to your presence and to help you see further in the dark. It also comes with a nifty side logo light that doesn’t do much in the way of illumination but is a fun, quirky addition.

The lights can be operated from the Mini Motors-favored EYE controller on the handlebars. From here, you can monitor your speed and battery, as well as engage cruise control, and change your riding mode. You can even access some of the P-settings to alter the basic setup of the scooter, adjusting your maximum power output, switching between kick-and-go and zero-start, as well as changing your speed unit from mph to kmh and vice versa.

Speedway Leger Eye Display and Throttle

At 20.4 kg, the Leger isn’t the lightest scooter on the market, although you will be able to lift it over short distances. Where it falls down in weight, it makes up for in terms of compactness thanks to its folding handlebars, telescopic stem, and collapsible neck. This makes it easy to store upon reaching your destination.

Speedway Leger Folded

At £950, this scooter offers a lot for what you pay, especially if you view it as an entry into the world of high-powered performance scooters that Mini Motors is famous for. Similar to the Horizon 13, it’s ideal for city exploration and has a great pedigree to back it up. If you want something that can guarantee a high-quality and powerful ride through your city streets at a half-decent price, I’d recommend the Speedway Leger as a top contender.

1. EMOVE Cruiser

EMOVE Cruiser
Best Adult Electric Scooter Under £1,500
For £1,249, the Emove Cruiser is one of the most popular scooters thanks to its enormous 63-mile range, 25 mph top speed, and all-around reliability. It’s a thoroughly complete scooter that will suit a whole host of purposes including both commuting and leisure riding. Not to mention, it has sublime ride quality and an excellent braking system – what’s not to like?
£1,249.00 £1,299.00

What if you need a scooter with double the range offered by both the Turboant X7 Pro and the Speedway Leger but you want to keep your budget below £1,500? You take a look at the Emove Cruiser, of course.

EMOVE Cruiser Unboxing & Mini-Review | Feast Your Eyes on the Best Scooter Under £1,500

Reliable, long-range, and incredibly well-rounded, the EMOVE Cruiser ticks all the right boxes and has everything a stylish and savvy rider needs. Feast your eyes on a sequence of clips showcasing the EMOVE Cruiser’s illustrious design and features.

How about bagging yourself a machine that can deliver 62 miles on a single charge? The Cruiser is ideal for those of you that need your scooter to go a little bit further. This awesome range is all down to the large 42V 30Ah LG battery. Not only is it made by one of the best quality manufacturers, but its extended capacity means you can go for weeks without having to plug in. This kind of mileage means the Cruiser’s battery is a staggering 3 times more powerful than those found on other scooters in its price range.

Emove Cruiser Frame

This is perfect if you have a longer commute to tackle but will also suit riders who might forget to plug their scooter in regularly. When you do run out of juice, you can expect to wait around 9-12 hours to achieve a full refill. This is on the long side, but when you consider the mileage you’re getting, it’s pretty darn impressive. Charging overnight should help take the stress out of waiting too.

When it comes to getting out on the road, the Cruiser is more than capable of holding its own, despite being designed with range in mind. With a peak output of 1600W, this scooter can propel you up to a top speed of 25 mph, meaning your acceleration curve will leave many cheaper scooters in the dust. This punchy power also allows you to conquer hills with a 20-degree incline. This covers most of the hills you’re likely to find in an urban environment, except for a few of the very steepest.

Emove Cruiser Rear Hybrid Hydraulic Brakes

To counter the Cruiser’s road-ready speed and fast acceleration rate, it has been fitted with a dual hydraulic braking system. Hydraulic brakes are the best you can get because of their efficiency and stopping power, although they will require a little more maintenance than drum brakes. As soon as you touch the brake trigger, the hydraulics will engage and begin slowing you down quickly. You’ll have complete control over your ride, no matter the pace you’re going.

Another reason this scooter is so popular is because of its exceptional ride quality which is a result of its front dual and rear air shock absorbers. This is one of the best suspension systems I’ve seen on a scooter with a price tag of £1,249. It will absorb the majority of harsh impacts, protecting your joints, and making sure that a stray pothole doesn’t throw you over the handlebars.

Emove Cruiser Dual Front Spring Suspension

This is complemented by the large and luxurious 10-inch pneumatic tyres. As previously mentioned, there are a ton of benefits to these types of tyres, like the fact they provide improved traction in wet weather. The Cruiser’s tyres also come without an inner tube, which reduces their maintenance giving them a natural flat-resistance. As with most pneumatics, their softer surface allows them to mould to the terrain underfoot more easily. They can roll over large obstacles and cushion against any uncomfortable bumps. This results in an exceptional ride quality that’ll make you want to stay out and use up that 62-mile range all in one go.

At 23.6 kg, the Cruiser isn’t an easy lift, and the increased weight means it isn’t the best for multimodal journeys. However, there are some benefits of having a larger bulk, most notably the wider standing deck and sturdy build quality, both of which make it comfortable to naturally plant your feet. The Cruiser can also support a maximum load of 160 kg – that’s roughly the equivalent of two fully grown adults – making it ideal for heavier riders.

Despite it being more difficult to lift, the Cruiser does fold down into a compact package. This is because of its foldable handlebars, telescopic stem, and collapsable neck. You’ll have no problem fitting this scooter into tight spaces when it comes to storing it at your destination or home.

Emove Cruiser Folded

By now, you’ll hopefully have seen the many great things the Cruiser has to offer. But, there’s even more…it comes with a ton of other features that make it suitable for extended use outside, such as its IPX6 waterproof rating. This means it can withstand high water pressure from any direction, so a sudden deluge won’t harm the Cruiser, although I’d recommend getting somewhere dry as fast as you can – no one likes to ride in torrential rain.

It also has a great lighting setup which is ideal for navigating when it gets dark. Not only does it come equipped with a large headlight, red deck lights, and a fairly bright taillight, but it features turn signals too. You won’t have to worry about signalling awkwardly with your hand anymore – the Cruiser will do it for you. These can be operated from the handlebars, alongside the basic display where you can monitor your riding stats.

Emove Cruiser Bright LED Lights

One other small but nice-to-have feature is the loud bell. If you want to pimp up your ride even further, you can invest in the detachable seat which clips onto the spacious foot deck. This is ideal for those prolonged journeys and allows you to ride in the lap of luxury.

The Cruiser delivers on every front including speed, ride comfort, reliability… I could go on. Its real stand-out feature is, of course, its range which puts it a level above other scooters in its price bracket. If you’re looking for a true all-rounder that can go the distance then the Emove Cruiser is your best bet.

Apollo Pro 52V
Best Adult Electric Scooter Under £2,000
Speed, range, comfort… there’s not a lot the Apollo Pro 52V can’t do. Standout features include the excellent suspension and build quality, as well as its ability to support riders up to 150 kg. It’s versatile enough to tackle a variety of terrain without compromising on rider comfort and for £1,699, it is very good value for money when you consider the level of performance you get in return.
£1,699.00

The Apollo Pro range is a household name when it comes to high-quality scooters, but there are a few to choose from and it’s important to pick the right one for you. If you’re looking for value for money, the Pro 52V is a great choice that combines everything that makes the Pro such a well-respected scooter, whilst keeping the price below £2,000.

Apollo Pro Frame

One of the best things about this scooter is how cool it is to look at. Thanks to the way the stem arches over the front wheel, the frame has an insectoid look about it, like a praying mantis ready to strike. The sleek black frame oozes urban cool whilst the added blue accents on the swingarms and foot deck give a pop of colour that makes this scooter feel very contemporary. You can guarantee that you’ll be turning heads as you ride through the heart of your city.

But you don’t earn the universal respect of the scooter world with just good looks. The Pro 52V also has the stats to back it up. This is the first scooter on this list to feature dual motors, and the combined 2000W power output means you can guarantee some seriously ferocious torque and a rapid rate of acceleration. You’ll be able to reach 30 mph in just 6.2 seconds, hitting the 52V’s top speed of 38 mph not long after.

Apollo Pro Handlebars

The added speed and power of this scooter makes it a great choice for urban riders as it can easily keep pace with city traffic, slipping out of the bike line and blending in with other road vehicles seamlessly. Not only this, but the huge amount of torque means hills will wither beneath the power of the Pro. With a 40% incline capability, even the steep slopes of San Francisco won't challenge you.

The Pro 52V is similarly impressive when it comes to range. When riding in eco or single motor mode, you’ll be able to reach an astonishing 56 miles on a single charge, although more aggressive riders will see closer to half this. The Pro 52V’s mileage is a result of its high-quality LG battery which is widely viewed as one of the best on the market. If you invest in the fast charger, you’ll see a recharge time of 5 hours which is even shorter than that of the EMOVE Cruiser. However, if you stick with the standard charging unit, your wait time will double, sitting at 10 hours.

Apollo Pro Disc Brake

The Pro 52V is outfitted with a strong set of dual hydraulic disc brakes to help you control its pacey top speed when you’re out and about. They’ll give you strong and responsive stopping power, whilst the electric regen brakes help by killing the power to the motor.

The Pro 52V also delivers excellent ride quality thanks to its large, plush 10-inch pneumatic tyres and front spring and rear hydraulic suspension. They work together to cushion you against hits from rough terrain, protecting your joints and making your ride smooth and more enjoyable. You’ll even be able to take this scooter off-road, venturing onto grassy fields and light forest trails. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that the tread on the wheels is made for increased traction on roads, rather than on loose surfaces like sand and dirt.

Apollo Pro Suspension

One of the best things about the Pro 52V is that it’s capable of supporting riders up to 150 kg, which makes it ideal for heavier adults. This is reflected in its chunkier frame and wide foot deck which allows for a more balanced and stable riding experience. Given its size, it’s no surprise that the Pro 52V is lauded for its excellent build quality and reliable frame.

Apollo Pro Foot Deck

However, a chunkier profile often means a heavier weight and this scooter is no exception. The Pro 52V weighs a pretty hefty 34.9 kg, which puts it outside the realm of practical portability. This isn’t a scooter that you’ll want to be carrying for any length of time. Even lifting it in the first place can pose a problem. Despite being heavy, it is easy to manoeuvre while riding.

The Pro 52V comes with the standard Apollo display where you can engage cruise control, operate your lights and view ride stats, as well as customize the P-settings like whether the scooter functions as kick-and-go or zero-start. It’s worth noting that the LED lights are a little underwhelming. The Pro only features button lights in the front and the rear, so you’ll need to invest in extra lighting for nighttime riding.

Apollo Pro LED Lights

For £1,699, the Apollo Pro 52V is the best scooter for under £2,000. It delivers on performance and power and is versatile enough to tackle a variety of terrain without compromising on rider comfort. If you’re looking for a superior scooter with tons of energy and the ability to support heavier riders, this is a top contender.

Under £2,500

1. Speedway 5

Speedway 5
Best Adult Electric Scooter Under £2,500
Made by the same brand that brought us the Dualtron range, the Speedway 5 delivers the same awesome speed, power, and range but with a reduced weight to make it a more portable and practical scooter. If you’re tempted by some of the Dualtron roadrunners, I’d recommend taking a look at this scooter first for a similar standard at a significantly reduced price.
£1,600.00 £1,750.00

The Speedway Leger is the perfect introduction to the powerful performance scooters made by Mini Motors USA, but if you were hoping for something with more power that’s better suited to experienced riders, the Speedway 5 will tick your boxes. It channels the same top quality of its Dualtron cousins, but at a fraction of the price.

Speedway 5 Frame

With the Speedway 5, we’re taking a step towards the realm of big, powerful beastly scooters. Its dual motors are capable of a 3600W maximum output which is nearly double that of the Apollo Pro 52V. This allows you to reach a top speed of 40 mph and is what gives the Speedway 5 its reputation for being able to storm up even the steepest hills.

Speedway 5 Eco & Dual Motor Settings

All electric scooters need a good set of brakes, but this is even more important on models that can go as fast as the Speedway 5. Luckily, it comes equipped with dual front and rear disc brakes for optimal control over your ride. It also comes with a regenerative electric brake which kills the power to the motors to help you come to a stop even faster.

Speedway 5 Rear Wheel Disc Brake and Turn Signals

There’s no doubt that the Speedway 5 has been made for urban riding. It has 10-inch pneumatic tubeless tyres that feature a slick tread pattern perfect for generating traction on tarmac. Their tubeless design makes them more resistant to any stray glass shards or sharp surprises you might find during city excursions. This reduces the amount of maintenance you’ll need to do.

Speedway 5 Ten Inch Tubeless Tires

Like most pneumatic tyres, they do a great job of shock absorption, working in tandem with the scooter’s front and rear dual air spring suspension. This helps to diffuse vibrations from the road to prevent your wrists and ankles from aching on long rides. The result is a very comfortable and smooth ride quality that is synonymous with scooters made by Mini Motors USA.

Speedway 5 Front Air Shock Spring Suspension and LED Headlight

In addition to speed and power, one marker of a great performance scooter is that it boasts a long-range. You guessed it – the Speedway 5 is no exception to this rule. Its positively enormous 60V 23.4 Ah battery promises to deliver a maximum of 75 miles when ridden in the most conservative settings. Even when riding more aggressively, you’re still likely to see around 50 miles which is perfect for those of you who like to spend endless hours exploring.

When it comes to recharging, the Speedway 5 comes with two options: the fast charger and the standard one. The fast charger must be purchased at an additional cost, however, reduces the charging time down to a shockingly short 4 hours, whereas if you opt for the standard charger that comes included with the scooter, expect to wait around 13 hours for a full recharge.

Its power and range are sure indicators of the Speedway 5’s Mini Motors pedigree, but what else does this scooter share with its ferocious cousins? Well, it uses the same EYE LED display and throttle combo as found on Dualtron motors, which is where all of your riding data such as speed and battery life will be stored. It also comes with integrated turn signals, which aren’t commonly found on electric scooters, so count as a big bonus in my book.

Speedway 5 Eye LED Control Display

Speaking of lights, you won’t be disappointed when it comes to riding the Speedway 5 at night. It features a powerful headlight as well as taillights and deck lighting. It also comes with the same unique logo sidelight seen on the Speedway Leger, which was one of my favourite quirky additions.

Speedway 5 Lights Projecting Speedway Logo

One thing the Speedway 5 doesn’t share with many of the Dualtron scooters is their heavier weight. Coming in at 31.7 kg, this is far from a light machine but it is more manageable than some of the bulkier models which can weigh over 45 kg. This makes it feel way more practical than the likes of the Dualtron X or Wolf Warrior. It's by no means compact but its easy folding mechanism means you can store it away too.

All scooters from Mini Motors are well-known and respected because of their high-quality build and all-around reliability. It’s no surprise that the Speedway 5 lives up to this reputation with its reinforced frame, roomy deck, and ability to support riders of up to 120 kg. Even better, you can get this quality for £1,600, which is incredibly reasonable compared to the much heftier price tag attached to the Dualtron range.

This scooter is ideal if you’re looking for something with the pedigree of a top performance scooter, but don’t want to pay through the nose. It ticks all the same boxes as more radical models but is more practical to use for long, fast-paced explorations. If you don’t want to commit to a pricier Dualtron model, this is a great alternative.

Under £3,000

1. Wolf Warrior

Wolf Warrior
Best Adult Electric Scooter Under £3,000
The Wolf Warrior is a masterclass in extreme performance and power, perfect for the adrenaline junkies amongst you who are looking to seriously upgrade your scooter game. With a top speed of 50 mph and a maximum range of 70 miles, the Wolf Warrior is sure to get your blood pumping. It shines as an off-road scooter and is most at home exploring the forgotten crags and cliffs of mountainous pathways.
£2,599.00

You can admit it, owning a scooter with a name like ‘Wolf Warrior’ sounds pretty awesome. And it’s not just all bark and no bite. This is the best off-road performance scooter money can buy and is a worthy rival for the intense Dualtron X.

Kaboo Wolf Warrior Frame

It’s difficult to convey in words just how powerful this scooter is, but when you stop thinking of it as an electric scooter and start seeing it more as a mini motorcycle, you might start to get the right idea. Although officially, it’s a Kaboo scooter, most of its insides are from Mini Motors, including its extraordinary dual-motor drive train which has a peak power output of 5400W.

This is the good stuff that means the Wolf Warrior can hit a top speed of 50 mph, leaving other scooter riders blinking away its dust. It’s super sensitive so even the slightest pressure on the throttle will see you leaping ahead. If you want that elusive adrenaline spike, hit the accelerator hard and your eyes will water from the sheer power and jaw-dropping torque this scooter puts out. It’s no wonder it can handle 30% inclines in a heartbeat; even the vertigo-inducing heights of San Francisco aren’t enough to deter this bad boy.

Kaboo Wolf Warrior Handlebars

With a scooter this powerful, you need to make sure you take the relevant safety precautions, such as wearing a helmet and appropriate protective clothing. Kaboo has also got you covered as they’ve fitted the Wolf Warrior with an outstanding braking system to make sure you’re always in control. It features full hydraulic brakes in the front and the rear, delivering consistent and reliable stopping power to both wheels when you need it.

Kaboo Wolf Warrior Hydraulic Brakes

Other important safety features include lighting, which is an area some scooters neglect. Often, I recommend users buy additional lights to make riding in the dark safe, but there’s no need for that with the Wolf Warrior. It features two giant, eye-like front headlights and a massive red rear light, as well as deck lights and ground effects.

Kaboo Wolf Warrior Powerful Headlights

Although the Wolf Warrior can be used as a city scooter, you’ll find that it’s more at home in the great outdoors, cruising along forest trails and lunging up and down rocky, mountainous paths. At the point of purchase, you can choose between slick road tyres or their knobby off-road counterparts. I’d recommend the latter if you want to experience the Wolf’s unrestrained beast mode.

Both the city and off-road tyres are 11-inch pneumatics, with the different tread being their only distinguishing feature. Because they’re so large, their increased traction helps to deliver that awesome torque I mentioned earlier, as well as providing great shock absorption against obstacles you’ll find on urban streets or along dirt tracks. They also come without inner tubes, which makes them more resistant to flats, giving you a thicker tyre with increased durability.

Kaboo Wolf Warrior Knobby Tires

The tyres are accompanied by a front hydraulic and rear spring suspension system. This setup is a large part of why the Wolf Warrior is so well-suited to off-roading. It strikes a great balance between soft and stiff, dispersing pesky vibrations and protecting your joints from being rattled all over the place. As a result, you can expect a smooth and comfortable ride, with the flexibility to handle jumps and hops. Most importantly, you’ll always feel in control.

Wolf Warrior Hydraulic Suspension and Knobby Tires

Not only is this a great scooter for all the off-road fanatics and adrenaline junkies out there, but it’ll also appeal to riders who want to get out for hours on end. Its massive 35Ah LG battery is made by one of the most respected tech companies and promises a maximum range of 70 miles when ridden in eco or single-motor mode. If you want to turn things up by switching to the dual-motor or turbo setting, you’ll see less than this (approx. 45 miles).

You might expect a scooter with such a massive range to have an equally huge recharge time, but prepare to be pleasantly surprised. The Wolf Warrior only takes 8 hours to reach full battery which is one of the best range-to-charge rations I’ve seen on a scooter this powerful.

Like everything else about the Wolf Warrior, the cockpit on this scooter is designed for user convenience. It features the same EYE controller that you’ll find on all Mini Motors scooters along with an ear-splittingly loud horn and power control buttons.

Wolf Warrior Off Roading and LED Headlights

So far, the Wolf Warrior sounds too good to be true, but there is one pay off for all the power and potential rammed inside this scooter’s frame – it weighs a ton. Well, not literally, but at 45.8 kg, it’s no delicate flower. It’s near-impossible to lift on your own, and manoeuvring it can get a bit awkward. You’ll need help carting this beast around.

Weight aside, it’s pretty clear that I’m a big fan of the Wolf Warrior. It puts out tremendous power, has insane off-road capabilities, and is an adrenaline junkie’s dream. Plus, at £2,599, it’s excellent value for money given that its closest competitor is the Dualtron X which is double the price. If you’re looking to up your scooter game and invest in a thrill machine, the Wolf Warrior is a no-brainer.

Over £3,000

1. Dualtron X 2

Dualtron X 2
Best Adult Electric Scooter Over £3,000
If you want an extreme off-road scooter that pushes the very boundaries of what modern-day scooters can do, this is it. The Dualtron X is the biggest and most powerful electric scooter. It has more in common with a motorcycle than a scooter, promising top speeds of 68 mph. It might be heavy and it might be expensive, but it’s ideal for experienced adrenaline junkies looking for an electric scooter to match their appetite for a thrilling ride.
£5,250.00

There was only ever one real contender for the title of Best Electric Scooter for £3,000+. It had to be the indomitable, inimitable Dualtron X. There’s nothing else on the market that’s quite like it.

So what makes this scooter so outrageous? To be honest, it’s a whole host of things combined that give the X its ferocious and well-deserved reputation, but I suppose a standout feature is the sheer amount of power pulsing through the frame. I could use the word ‘powerhouse’ to describe it, but this still doesn’t fully convey the X’s potential.

Dualtron X 2 Frame

Like the Wolf Warrior, it’s more motorcycle than electric scooter and its dual 8300W max hub motors give it enough torque and speed to reach a stunning 68 mph, which is the fastest top speed that I’ve ever seen on an electric scooter. Its acceleration curve needs to be experienced to be believed but let me just say that you’ll want to hold on tight when you hit the throttle or you’re going to be left behind.

As you can probably guess, the Dualtron X 2 laughs in the face of even the sheerest inclines. To be honest, you could probably scale the side of a mountain on this thing – although I wouldn’t recommend you try it. You won’t have any problems charging up city slopes and the X 2 will eat hilly off-road tracks for breakfast thanks to its enormous torque-generating motors.

Dualtron X 2 Rear View

This scooter is one of the biggest thrill-rides out there, however, it’s important to note that it’s not for beginners. This isn’t just because it goes so fast, but also because it has a ride quality like no other. It features enormous wheels that are 13 inches tall and 4 inches wide. These babies make it feel like you’re floating on air rather than riding a scooter, and their increased width can take some time getting used to. You won’t be able to make any sharp turns or abrupt maneuvers – those that try will find themselves promptly thrown off. As a result, the X needs an experienced hand to guide it to get the best from what it has to offer.

Although the tyres may take a while to get used to, they do make for an extremely comfortable and balanced ride under extreme speeds. They’re pneumatic too, so provide excellent shock absorption on and off-road, whilst their tubeless design means you won’t have to worry so much about getting flats. You’ll be able to roll over any obstacles without being thrown or rattled around.

Dualtron X 2 Large Tubeless Tires

They’re complemented by potentially the best suspension system on an electric scooter. The X features coil-over hydraulic shocks. In simple terms, the suspension is very balanced and responsive. It also comes with an innovative steering damper which is something more commonly seen on motorcycles. This helps to keep your steering nice and tight at all times which is essential when riding at high speeds to keep control.

Dualtron X 2 Rear Hydraulic Suspension

Another crucial component on a speed fiend like the X is a faultless braking system. Luckily, Dualtron takes rider safety very seriously, which is why they’ve fitted their most extreme model with the most reliable and efficient brakes you can get. You’ll find a full hydraulic disc brake on both the front and rear wheel, delivering consistent and precise stopping power when you need it. The X also comes with ABS (anti-lock braking system), however, you can disable this if you prefer.

Dualtron X 2 Hydraulic Disc Brake

When reviewing the Dualtron X 2, I can’t neglect to mention its enormous 72V 43Ah battery. This promises a jaw-dropping maximum range of 93 miles, although aggressive riders will see less (approx. 65 miles). It has enough juice in the tank to serve up hours of adrenaline-pumping fun, and when you do need to recharge, the X only takes 7.5 hours to reach full battery if you use a fast charger.

Other than its incredible power and range, one thing that makes the X 2 stand out from the crowd is its chunky, don’t-mess-with-me aesthetic. This scooter has a real attitude running all the way from the tips of its slip-resistant handlebar grips, down the thick, arched stem to its beefy tyres. You know this scooter means business without even stepping foot on it.

Dualtron X 2 Wide Deck

Of course, this kind of chunkiness does come with some drawbacks. Although it has the best build quality I’ve ever seen, it’s also the heaviest scooter I’ve reviewed to date. Weighing an enormous 66 kg, this is not portable or practical. You won’t be able to lift it on your own, and hoisting it into your car's boot will be a two-person job. That being said, the X laughs in the face of portability. When you take the X out it’ll be for a very specific purpose: to deliver unmatchable performance both on and off-road, not for leisurely multimodal explorations that require you to pick up and carry your scooter.

The X 2 comes fitted with the standard Mini Motors EYE controller, which allows you to monitor your riding stats and battery. It also features an electric horn and a vast array of lights for nighttime riding. The central headlight is ultra-bright, whilst the rear and swag lights help increase your visibility. It even comes equipped with turn signals which you don’t find on many scooters.

Dualtron X 2 Headlight

At £5,250, the Dualtron X 2 is not a cheap electric scooter, however, this price tag is reasonable considering the power, range, and sheer quality on offer. This is the beastliest scooter money can buy and it’s definitely not for beginners or inexperienced riders. Instead, it will appeal to a particular niche of people who want their scooters to serve up an impressive amount of thrill and adrenaline, particularly when riding at extreme speeds.
