It’s equipped with a single 350W motor that will allow you to reach a top speed of 20 mph. As far as beginner scooters go, this is pretty darn fast, taking a serious step up from those that hover around the 15 mph mark. The power from the motor is also enough to tackle 15% grade inclines, which should cover the majority of gentle urban slopes.
Considering the X7 Pro only comes with a single motor, the acceleration on this scooter is pretty nippy, so if you really lay it on the throttle, you can reach 20 mph in 12.2 seconds. The bonus of a speed like this is that it’s low enough for nervous riders to find their feet and get comfortable but not so slow that you’ll become bored when you’ve got the hang of it. It’s perfectly matched to city-riding too, giving you full control when weaving along busy streets.
In addition to its beginner-friendly speed, the X7 Pro is also decked out with a thorough trio of brakes including a disc brake, electronic regen brake, and a manual foot brake. When used together, this will bring you to a stop in as little as 5 meters. This kind of performance is rare for a scooter at this price point, setting the X7 Pro out as one of the safest scooters for first-timers.
When you first receive your X7 Pro, there’s a strong chance you’re going to want to spend a lot of time on it. Luckily, with this scooter’s extensive range, you’ll be able to do just that. The X7 Pro offers a truly impressive 30 miles of travel time on a single charge, which is almost double what you’d find on other scooters in the same price range.
To facilitate the long-range, Turboant chose to position the battery on the scooter’s stem, rather than in the deck. This is a unique design choice but is handy for a couple of reasons including flexible charging. The battery is detachable, meaning you won’t have to worry about lugging the entire frame around to reach a wall socket. Simply detach the battery and take it with you, leaving your X7 Pro stored securely elsewhere.
Even better, the detachable nature of the battery means you can easily swap it out for a second one when the first one runs dry. This would mean you’d have to purchase another battery pack at an additional cost, but owning two would double the X7 Pro’s range, giving you up to 60 miles on a single charge.
In addition to its beginner-friendly speed and respectable range, the Turboant X7 Pro is very comfortable to ride. With cheaper models, rider comfort isn’t always the primary focus, however, this budget scooter comes with 10-inch pneumatic tyres that give it an edge over its competitors. It has great clearance and awesome shock absorption.
The inclusion of pneumatics, as opposed to solid rubber tyres (which are often found on cheap scooters), is a big bonus given that the X7 Pro doesn’t come with any suspension. However, it does mean that, even though its wheels do a great job of picking up some of the slack, the X7 Pro can get a bit bumpy to ride over rough or uneven surfaces. To get the best out of the X7 Pro, you’ll need to stick to urban terrain.
Although this is primarily a road scooter, the X7 Pro still boasts a robust and durable build to help it withstand the wear and tear of everyday riding. It has a thick, sturdy neck to prevent stem wobble, whilst the waterproof rating of IPX4 protects it from water splashes. Overall, it can support up to 125 kg which is more than most scooters, making it ideal for heavier riders looking to dip their toes in the electric scooter pool.
The X7 Pro is advertised primarily as a commuter scooter and, despite its outward robustness, has the lightweight portability to go with this title. It weighs in at 15 kg which should be easy enough for most people to lift and carry. It also features a speedy folding mechanism to allow for quick and convenient storage.
This isn’t the only thing that’s convenient about the X7 Pro. The 3W front headlight and rear tail light take the stress out of nighttime riding and provide sufficient illumination for the majority of urban streets. Having said this, I’d still recommend purchasing additional lights if you’re going to be travelling in poorly lit areas.
You can control your headlights from the throttle that serves as an all-in-one command centre. The handlebar display, seamlessly integrated into the centre of the handlebars, will show you not only the status of your lights (on/off) but also reports your riding speed and battery life. You’ll also be able to switch between the three gears — beginner, eco, and sports — all of which have different speed thresholds to suit different environments and riding styles (6 mph, 10 mph, and 20 mph respectively). Next to the display is a bell that is loud enough to let other road users and pedestrians know you’re coming.
At £320, the X7 Pro is excellent value for money and will allow first-time riders to experience the potential electric scooters have to offer. Its top speed of 20 mph is perfect for city riders, boasting an acceleration curve that is just enough for beginners to get comfortable whilst still bringing the excitement that bicycles and kick scooters lack.
Best 20-25 MPH Scooter:

The 500W motor makes the Horizon 13 surprisingly powerful for a single-motor scooter, especially when you reach its peak output of 800W. With this potential at your fingertips, you’ll be able to hit a top speed of 25 mph as well as climb hills with a 15% grade.
25 mph might sound fairly quick, especially if you’re a scooter novice, but the acceleration on the Horizon 13 is very smooth and gradual (it's also twice as quick as the Turboant X7 Pro). Rather than haring off as soon as you hit the throttle, the 13 eases off nice and smooth.
If you’d rather opt for something with a slightly faster pickup, I’d recommend taking a look at the Apollo City. It has the same maximum speed as the Horizon 13, but its acceleration curve is a bit steeper and it can reach 15 mph in a little over 4 seconds. This is more impressive, but it’s also more expensive. It costs £159 more than the Horizon 13, retailing at £849. However, you’ll get a slightly higher mileage of 28 miles too.
This is in comparison to the Horizon 13’s maximum range of 25 miles. The 13’s mileage also falls just short of the Turboant’s 30 miles but is still more than enough for medium commutes and casual city cruising. If you don’t plan to go very far, take a look at the Horizon 10.4. It offers the same top speed but has a reduced range of 20 miles as well as a lower price of £604.
The Horizon 13 might not have the genes of a racing scooter, but it still comes with a reliable braking system to slow you down safely. It features a rear drum brake as well as a regenerative brake, giving you good control over your speed. I’d prefer to see a brake on both wheels but the brake lever is sensitive to pressure and will kick in when you need it to. On the plus side, drum brakes are famously low-maintenance, so are perfect for scooter novices, or even more experienced riders without the time for constant brake maintenance.
This isn’t the only low-maintenance aspect of this scooter — the 8-inch solid rubber rear tyre also makes for a hands-off experience. Solid tyres completely eradicate the risk of flats, so you won’t have to worry about fiddly tyre changes here. Despite this positive, they do have a reputation for delivering an uncomfortable ride quality due to their low shock absorption and poor traction, which is why the 13’s front tyre is an 8.5-inch pneumatic. It cushions against harsh impacts and although it’s vulnerable to punctures, it’s worth the risk for the improved ride quality it provides.
However, it is important to note that the Horizon 13 is fitted with spring suspension in the front which works alongside the front wheel to keep you comfortable, whilst the rear solid tyre is supported by a hydraulic suspension system that absorbs vibrations from bumps and obstacles. The suspension marks a big difference between the Horizon 13 and budget scooters like the X7 Pro. As a result, it is designed to deliver a premium ride quality across urban environments.
Like the X7 Pro, the Horizon 13 is built to support heavier riders up to 120 kg and sports a spacious deck so all users can find a comfortable riding stance. It isn’t the lightest option available, weighing a fairly hefty 19 kg but despite this, it’s very compact thanks to its telescopic neck, folding handlebars, and collapsible stem. Its folding mechanism is also incredibly intuitive so storing it takes a matter of mere seconds.
The Horizon 13 comes equipped with a wide range of lighting for nighttime riding. This includes a trio of front LED lights and two rear lights that act as brake blinkers too. These are good for providing illumination, but I’d recommend purchasing some high-mounted lights for extra visibility. You can operate your lights from the LCD display where you can also keep an eye on your speed and battery level, as well as switching between different riding modes.
At £690, the Horizon 13 is a great, no-nonsense scooter that will get you where you need to go with minimal fuss. Its 25-mph top speed is perfect for city riding and its smooth acceleration makes it perfect for beginners. Ultimately, it’s been built with practicality in mind, rather than being designed to get your blood pumping. As a result, it’s the perfect match for anyone who wants a reliable scooter that can withstand everyday riding.

More importantly, its acceleration rate is everything that a speed-fiend in training could ask for. It’s able to hit its maximum 26-mph speed in a matter of seconds, getting your blood pumping without making you feel unsafe or out of control. It strikes a great balance, making it an ideal beginner scooter.
The Widewheel Pro’s brakes play a large role in making new riders feel safe even with its thrilling acceleration on tap. It’s fitted with dual disc brakes as well as dual electronic brakes, giving you full control of your speed at all times. Combined, you can expect strong stopping power, bringing you a halt within a few meters.
In addition to its awesome acceleration, the WideWheel Pro has a reputation for delivering a truly unique ride quality. This is down to one thing: very wide wheels. It is equipped with tyres that are 8 inches tall and a massive 4 inches wide. There are only a few scooters out there with wheels as wide as this and they all cost upwards of £1,850. The benefit of tyres like this is that they’ll keep you balanced at all times, which is crucial on a scooter with a fast acceleration rate.
Unlike traditional airless tyres, these aren’t solid rubber but are instead filled with polyurethane foam. This makes them softer than rubber tyres and they’re able to give more cushioning against harsh impacts. Combined with their incredibly wide profile, this results in a ride quality that feels more like floating. It might seem clumsy at first, and it’ll take some getting used to, but once you’ve got your head around it, you’ll realize that this is part of what makes riding the WideWheel Pro so fun.
Despite their innovative design, however, the Pro’s tyres still aren’t quite as good as pneumatics when it comes to shock absorption, which is why it also comes with dual spring suspension. This helps to keep your joints protected, making sure you’re comfortable if you find yourself riding across roads that are rougher than you’d like. Having said this, I’d still recommend sticking to urban paths where you can. This is where the WideWheel Pro shines brightest.
This Widewheel has plenty of range to keep you going, allowing you to travel up to a realistic 20-22 miles on a single charge. In best-case scenarios (i.e. riding slow and weighing less than 75 kg), 30 miles can be reached. Overall though, the range is great for medium commutes but especially good for casual riders who like to use their scooter to get around the city on the weekend. When it comes to recharging, the Pro takes around 8 hours to re-juice. This is on the longer side, but won’t be too problematic if you aren’t planning to use your scooter every day.
Another standout feature of the WideWheel Pro is its robust frame and sturdy build. It’s been reinforced in all the right places for extra durability and can support riders up to 100 kg. Because of this and the added weight of its extra motor, it’s on the heavy side, weighing 25 kg. This is heavier than your average commuter scooters, but it’s very compact thanks to its foldable handlebars. If you do choose to use it for the daily rat race, you’ll be able to store it easily when you arrive at your destination.
The WideWheel Pro comes with a smart display on the handlebars that, as with most scooters, lets you track your speed and battery level. It also allows you to change gears mid-ride, flicking between eco and power mode with the press of a button. You can slip into cruise control with minimal effort too.
The Pro will set you back £1,035, however, if you want a scooter that doesn’t hold back when it comes to acceleration and fun factor, the WideWheel Pro will not disappoint. Plus, its robust frame, strong brakes, and plush ride quality give it an indulgent touch many budget scooters lack. I’d recommend it if you want something more than just a functional run-around.

The Apollo Ghost is the newest addition to the Apollo portfolio and it’s aptly named for its hauntingly fast acceleration and wraith-like frame. This scooter brings raw power and speed to the table without piling on extra weight or cost.
Before we get into the juicy details, I’ve got to start by saying that one of the Ghost’s biggest pulls is its incredible price point. Apollo has packed this thing full of some seriously cool features that would normally set you back a good chunk. However, Apollo strives to make performance scooters accessible for a wider audience, so this baby will only cost you £1,499. That’s £464 more than the WideWheel Pro, but as you’ll see, the Ghost brings a heck of a lot more to the table.
Let me assure you that I’m not exaggerating when I say this scooter is fast. It’s whiplash-quick, able to go from 0-15 mph in just 2.3 seconds, and 0-25 mph in 5.3 seconds. That’s a stunning 28% faster than the acceleration rate on the WideWheel Pro. This rapid take-off is down to the Ghost’s dual 800W motors. At their peak, they put out a combined 2000W which is more than enough to make your blood sing, translating to a top speed of 34 mph.
It also means the Ghost has some seriously strong torque and enough power to climb even the steepest inclines. This scooter’s hill-climbing ability is nothing short of amazing and it can maintain its ferocious speed just as well going uphill as it can when riding on the flat.
Because of its crazy-fast acceleration, Apollo has fitted the Ghost with equally strong brakes to keep you safe when unleashing this powerhouse. It features dual disc brakes as well as a regenerative brake. If you’re cruising along at 25 mph, using all brakes together will bring you to a stop in approximately 7 meters. The stopping action on the Ghost is incredibly dramatic, giving you confidence in and control over your ride.
In terms of its powerful capabilities and general aesthetics, the Ghost is very similar to the Apollo Pro but smaller and more compact. Apollo has opted to use a hollowed-out aluminium frame to achieve this, making the scooter very durable without the added bulk. It has an overall weight of 29 kg which isn’t light but is more than reasonable considering the power it has to offer. It also comes with foldable handlebars and a collapsible stem, making it compact compared to other performance scooters on offer.
Its smaller size doesn’t impact rider comfort, though, and riders up to 136 kg will be able to enjoy the wraith-like glide of its riding quality. This sensation is down to the combination of the Ghost’s tyres and suspension. It’s fitted with dual spring shocks that are inspired by that of the Apollo Pro and help to deliver a smooth ride across urban paths as well as forest trails. It can also be adjusted to your preferences with an Allen key, however, I’d recommend leaving this alone if you don’t know what you’re doing.
The 10-inch pneumatic tyres also help out when it comes to comfort too. They cushion against sharp impacts, absorbing vibrations as you go. They’re fairly tall, but the foot deck rides quite low to the floor (for a performance scooter), helping to amplify the seamless gliding sensation of the ride. They also produce good traction in wet weather so, combined with the IP54 waterproof rating that protects the Ghost from water splashes, you shouldn’t need to worry about grey skies ruining your fun.
Although designed after the ever-popular Apollo Pro series, when it comes to range, the Ghost is more like the Apollo City since it comes with a Dynavolt battery as opposed to LG cells. Dynavolt batteries are an Apollo favourite and claim to last for around 4 years before needing to be replaced. It gives the Ghost a maximum of 39 miles of travel when ridden conservatively, however, aggressive riders will see a significantly reduced figure of around 20 miles. In reality, most users will achieve somewhere between the two.
Apollo has gone to town on the Ghost, packing it full of fun extras. It comes with a standard Apollo display that allows you to monitor your speed and battery level, as well as giving you access to the scooter’s P-settings. From here you can customize your ride by altering your power strength, selecting your start mode, and turning cruise control on or off. You’ll also be able to flick between single or dual motor mode as well as opt for either eco or turbo with the press of a button.
Like all Apollo scooters, the Ghost comes with great lighting for nighttime riding. It features two LED lights in the front and two in the rear which ticks the functionality box. The fun factor comes from the two LED blue strips that run the length of the deck. These are new additions and they make the Ghost shine with an otherworldly glow.
Given everything this scooter has to offer, it’s a steal. There aren’t many models available on the market that serve up this much power for under £1,500. The Ghost is a great scooter if you want to experience the potential of the Apollo Pro but your budget can’t quite stretch. It might not have the finesse of its older sibling, but it sure has the same ability to get your blood pumping. If you want an affordable scooter with rapid acceleration capable of snatching the air from your lungs, then the Ghost should be a serious contender.
Best 35-40 MPH Scooter:
Apollo Pro 52V Hydraulic Brakes
When it comes to speed and power, the ever-popular Apollo Pro series is a firm favourite. It takes city riding to a new level of performance as well as delivering a serious step up in power. The Ghost might be modelled on the Pro scooters, but there’s nothing that can match the premium quality of the real deal.
The Pro 52V is all about rapid acceleration and strong torque. Its dual 1000W motors have a combined peak power output of 2400W which is over double that of models like the WideWheel Pro. This translates into an awesome top speed of 38 mph and the ability to go from 0 to 30 mph in just 6.2 seconds. Given that the Pro’s strengths lie very clearly in its torque and acceleration, it should come as no surprise that it can charge its way up 40% inclines with ease.
With this much power on tap, Apollo has made sure that the Pro has the brakes to keep its riders safe. The 52V comes equipped with hydraulic disc brakes that can slow you down from the Pro’s heady top speeds. These are some of the most efficient brakes on the market and their stopping power is consistent and reliable. The 52V is available for less with standard cable brakes but I’d recommend taking the upgrade if your budget can allow it. It’ll deliver an even better braking experience.
When it comes to scooters with eye-watering acceleration, ride comfort can be a risk — there’s always the chance that it will translate to a jolty and uncomfortable take-off. This isn’t something you’ll need to worry about with the Apollo Pro. Acceleration is very smooth and befits a high-quality scooter such as this one.
The luxurious ride quality also comes from the combination of the scooter’s 10-inch pneumatic tyres and dual spring / hydraulic suspension. This partnership allows it to roll over big obstacles with ease, as well as absorbing shocks as you fly along. The insectoid frame also gives the deck a higher clearance than that of the Ghost, so you can execute jumps and hops.
Although the Pro works best on urban roads thanks to the slick tread of its road-ready tyres, its robust damping makes it perfect for bridging the gap between city exploration and light off-road adventures. You can confidently take this bad boy out of its urban confines and enjoy riding along shaded forest trails or undulating hiking paths.
Because of this, the Pro is one well-built machine. It features a durable and sturdy construction that can withstand the pressure of regular riding in a variety of environments. It can support riders up to 150 kg too, which makes it a great choice for heavier adults looking to experience the thrill of a performance scooter. It does this whilst still managing to cut a very sleek and suave profile, conveying agility in every inch of its black frame, trimmed with the trademark Apollo electric blue.
You’ll have plenty of chances to show this scooter off, thanks to its impressive range of 56 miles. The Pro is fitted with a high-quality LG battery that makes this possible, matching your appetite for longer and more thrilling rides. This being said, you’ll only reach this kind of mileage if you ride the scooter conservatively, but those who aim for maximum power on each outing will see this reduced down to almost 25 miles. As a result, you’ll need to charge the scooter more often but with a fast charger, you can be back out in a very quick 5 hours. A standard charger will take longer, doubling the recharge time to 10 hours.
Everything about this scooter is bigger and better than any of the other Apollo scooters that have come before it, but this also means that the Pro is a much heftier beast. It weighs 34.9 kg, which could be a bit of a back-breaker if you’re going to need to carry it regularly. However, in comparison to other performance scooters like the Wolf Warrior (45.8 kg), this is a big improvement.
Considering the amount of power the Pro offers, you’ll want to make sure you can monitor your output, which is where the handlebar display comes in handy. As well as controlling your headlights and operating the cruise control, you can also keep an eye on your speed and battery levels.
Plus, you can customize the scooter’s base settings to your preferences. This includes your start mode and measurement units. You can tinker with these until the Pro 52V ticks all of your boxes.
The Pro 52V is technically the ‘entry model’ of the Pro lineup but it still brings awesome power and potential to the table, hitting top speeds and delivering next-level acceleration. In light of this, its price tag of £1,699 is extremely good value for money, especially if you’re looking for your first high-performance scooter. Apollo also offers a generous warranty and excellent customer service so all riders can set out on their first thrilling ride with a firm level of confidence.
Best 40-45 MPH Scooter:
Apollo Pro 60V Hydraulic Brakes
Take the awesome power of the Apollo Pro 52V and crank it up a level and you’ve got some idea of what riding the Apollo Pro 60V might feel like. This is the second scooter in the Pro range and it doesn’t disappoint, featuring all the best bits of the 52V with a handful of thrilling improvements.
The most marked difference between the two lies in the 60V’s higher speed of 42 mph. This is down to the increased 1200W output of its dual motors, giving this scooter a level of acceleration and torque that won’t disappoint. Its pickup is faster than that of the 52V and even rivals the ferocious Wolf Warrior which is truly impressive given the Wolf’s beastly reputation.
Considering this, calling the 60V a ‘powerhouse’ seems a little lacklustre. It’s a certified land rocket and holds nothing back when you hit the throttle. Its acceleration rate is abrupt and once you get going, riding the 60V will feel effortless, even when scaling hills up to 40%. It won’t ever seem like this scooter is straining to maintain its top level.
The motors play a large part in this, but so does the 60V’s high-efficiency battery. Unlike the Pro 52V, the 60V is fitted with a Samsung battery, delivering top-quality performance at all times, including pushing the scooter up challenging slopes. When ridden in eco mode, it will also allow you to travel up to 50 miles on a single charge, however consistently aggressive riders will see as low as 25 miles depending on their riding style. Like other Apollo scooters, most riders will experience somewhere between the two.
Similar to the 52V, the 60V comes fitted with dual hydraulic brakes, but you won’t be required to pay an extra fee for them as they come as standard. These help to temper the 60V’s heart-pounding acceleration, reducing your braking distance down to as little as 5 meters depending on speed. With this stopping power available at the twitch of a finger, you can guarantee you’ll always feel safe and in control. The brakes contribute to the 60V’s exceptional ride quality.
One of the 60v’s stand-out features is its comfort. The dual spring suspension system is very flexible, alternating between soft and stiff depending on the terrain and absorbing vibrations almost effortlessly. It’ll keep your joints protected whether you’re riding on city paths or busy bike lanes. It’ll even be able to deal with unpredictable off-road trails, allowing you to venture off the beaten path without getting sore.
The 10-inch pneumatic tyres work in tandem with the suspension. Their increased height gives the scooter a higher clearance whilst also increasing the contact patch for more traction. Being air-filled, they’re more malleable and their softer profile makes absorbing shocks easier for a smooth ride. The tread on these tyres is fairly slick which is ideal for road riding, but they can be swapped for a knobbier alternative if you’re spending more time cruising forest trails or dirt tracks.
Luckily, the 60V has the durability to handle a variety of riding conditions. Its forged aluminium frame is extremely strong and features an IP54 water-resistance rating, giving it a degree of protection against water damage. The extra sturdiness of its build also means it’s able to support riders up to 150 kg, making it an awesome option for heavier adults.
Despite its extra durability, the 60V is remarkably lightweight for a scooter that leverages this much power. It weighs 34.9 kg which, although still heavy, is nowhere near the spine-splitting mass of comparable models like the Wolf Warrior (45.8 kg). This makes it surprisingly manageable, especially given that it can be folded and easily stored.
On the topic of rider convenience, the 60V also features a standard Apollo display on the handlebars, allowing riders to see their speed, battery level, and riding mode. This also acts as a gateway to the scooter’s P-settings, so you’ll be able to tweak the finer points to your preferences. This includes your start mode, units of measurement, and cruise control to name but a few.
Lastly, it’s important to note that the 60V comes fitted with dual front LED lights and dual red lights in the rear for improved visibility. The taillight also has a brake function, making others aware of your speed with minimal effort on your part. This setup will be sufficient for well-lit urban areas, however, I’d recommend purchasing additional lights if your regular routes are on the darker side.
Where the Apollo Pro 52V is all about making extreme scooters more affordable, the 60V prioritizes performance above all else which is what makes it such a popular scooter for adrenaline junkies and acceleration-fiends. It offers a unique blend of speed and practicality that its competitors lack. It is more expensive than the 52V, but it’s worth it for the step-up in raw power and speed.

Whilst it matches the 60V for 0-15 mph in 1.7 seconds, it soon takes the crown hitting 20 mph in 2.3 seconds (vs 2.6 seconds), and 30 mph in just 4 seconds (vs 5.3 seconds). This is thanks to its Stormcore controller that controls its two motors. Everything about this scooter oozes coolness. Even the name has a badass ring to it that accurately reflects what this scooter is about. This is partly because much of the Wolf Warrior, including the controller and EYE (the LED display system), is manufactured by Mini Motors, producers of the ferocious Dualtron line. This, combined with the many premium features on offer, sets the Wolf Warrior apart as a luxurious ride.
So let’s get stuck into what makes this scooter one of the best on the market.
Firstly, let’s talk speed. The Wolf Warrior easily trumps the likes of the Apollo Pro 52V and 60V, getting up to 50 mph without breaking a sweat thanks to the savage acceleration power. In fact, it has one of the fastest acceleration curves on the market.
Its acceleration isn’t as fast as the Apollo Pro 60V but the difference is minor. For example, the Apollo Pro 60V hits 0-15 mph in 1.7 seconds, the Wolf takes 1.9 seconds. This trend of having an acceleration curve that is a tenth to a twentieth of a second slower is seen up to the max speed of the Apollo (42 mph) where the Wolf then comes into its own pushing up to 50 mph.
Be warned, the throttle is exceptionally sensitive, and it doesn’t take much for the Wolf to get going. It’s quite difficult to explain just how outrageous the torque on this scooter is, but it has no trouble stomping up even the most challenging inclines. Thanks to the power of its 2400W motors, I’d say it handles inclines with the same relish it eats up miles on the flat.
The Wolf Warrior is uniquely designed for riding in an urban environment as well as along mountainous trails. You can choose whether it comes equipped with on or off-road 11-inch tubeless tyres. The difference lies mainly in the design. The off-road options feature a knobby texture to provide better traction over loose surfaces, whereas the pneumatic road tyres are much smoother for a stable ride.
Pick the version that’s more relevant to the way you plan to ride the scooter, however, bear in mind that the Wolf Warrior is at its most fun when you take it off-road. Luckily, the off-road tyres still do a decent job on roads, although they aren’t as effective.
What’s even better is that the enormous 35Ah LG battery can put out juice for miles — 70 miles to be precise (when riding in single motor or eco-mode). You can expect a reduced range with the second motor engaged, but you’ll have enough battery power to get you from A to B even on super long journeys.
The Wolf Warrior has a recharge time of around 7 hours which is exceptionally fast in comparison to other models with significantly less range.
Because of the large tyres and excellent front hydraulic and rear spring suspension, the ride quality of the Wolf Warrior is exceptionally comfortable at frighteningly fast speeds. The wide foot deck provides a stable base, so you always feel in control, even when going over rocky surfaces that would pull a lesser scooter to bits. Everything about this machine has been designed to make you feel safe, even the monstrously large frame.
With a scooter that goes this fast, safety is the most crucial factor, which is why Kaboo has gone above and beyond to ensure the Wolf Warrior ticks all the right boxes in that area. The front and rear hydraulic brakes are high-quality and respond to the slightest pressure, bringing you to a smooth but quick stop without any jerkiness. Super bright headlights, as well as side and rear lights, illuminate the path in front of you, as well as making you visible to others so nighttime riding is just as accessible as riding in full daylight.
I think it’s pretty clear by now that I like this scooter, primarily because of all the premium features on offer. However, they do have an impact on the weight of the scooter, bringing it up to 45.8 kg. This is one of the heaviest scooters I’ve reviewed, although it’s still lighter than the likes of the VSETT 11+, Zero 11X, and most Dualtron models. Even so, it’s not one you’ll easily be able to transport.
More motorcycle than scooter, the Wolf Warrior is outrageously fun and delivers on all fronts. Its flexibility will appeal to a variety of riders, but the power on offer will leave everyone breathless. If you do opt for the Wolf, make sure to take it out of the city now and again — it’s truly at its best when it can let loose in the wild.
Luckily, it is a bit lighter on your purse, costing just £2,599. With this in mind, it’s safe to say that scoring a scooter with the jaw-dropping power and potential of the Wolf Warrior is an absolute steal.
Best 50-55 MPH Scooter:

The VSETT 11+ is a brand-new, extreme scooter that will appeal to bold riders who want something that will make them stand out in terms of performance and aesthetics. Able to reach a top speed of 53 mph, it’s one of the most demanding rides on the market. At £2,417, it’s a worthwhile investment.

If you’re constantly searching for the next best scooter capable of delivering a thrilling ride, the VSETT 11+ is a brand-new blend of eye-watering speed and extreme performance that will tick all the boxes. Even better, its unique look means it’s completely different from anything else you’ll have come across.
At the end of February 2021, I had a call with Nathan Pust, the CEO at REV Rides (REV Rides is the only authorized seller of VSETT scooters in the U.S.). During our call, Nathan ran me through the new VSETT line of performance scooters and I’ve got a couple of interesting insights to share with you.
First up, the VSETT line was originally intended to be the PRO line of the well renowned ZERO scooter range, but after working with the manufacturers and designing the new generation of extreme performance scooters, it was only fair to give the new scooters their own brand.
Secondly, the goal of the VSETT range is to deliver a catalogue of scooters that deliver blistering performance for an affordable price, and they certainly delivered.
So, now you have an idea of why VSETT was born, let’s dive into the review.
With just one look at the VSETT 11+, it’s clear that this is a scooter made for bold riders. It shirks the dark, moody palette that many electric scooters favour, instead opting for vibrant electric blue and fiery red accents along the deck and wheels. This splash of colour is similar to what I’d expect to find on a race car.
Given the 11+’s speed potential, this comparison isn’t too far off. Thanks to its dual 1500W motors, this beast can reach between 50 and 53 mph with the sports mode engaged. This promises some seriously fast acceleration and strong torque to get you up and over most steep hills without breaking a sweat. Plus, if you find yourself wanting more, you can use the turbo boost to give you an extra burst of power.
The only downside to this scooter is that the fastest sport mode is programmed to turn off after 2 minutes of use, meaning you won’t be able to sustain its 53-mph top speed forever – or at least until the 10-minute cool-down period ends. Instead, you’ll be forced to drop back down to dual-motor mode which promises around 44-47 mph. Although this has the potential to be a bit irritating, it will help you conserve battery as well as prevent motor burn-out which is no bad thing.
As well as protecting its drivetrain, the VSETT 11+ also comes with high-quality dual hydraulic brakes to keep you safe. These are incredibly efficient and responsive, allowing you to keep control of the scooter even when riding at extreme speeds. You can slow down at any time, with just a twitch of the brake lever to direct stopping power to both wheels.
In terms of range, the 11+ pushes the boundaries of what scooter design can achieve, featuring a 60V 31.2Ah LG battery that claims to be able to reach between 100 and 140 miles (when ridden in eco-mode). This kind of capacity is unheard of, rivalling even that of the infamous Dualtron scooters, and will keep you going for days, if not weeks, at a time. When it comes to recharging, you will need to wait a little longer, with a full recharge taking around 16 hours, but it feels less of an annoyance when you’ll be able to go so long between charges.
If you’re going to be spending so much time out on your 11+ (and trust me, you will be), the last thing you want is a jerky and uncomfortable ride. Luckily, this scooter has prioritized rider comfort just as it has speed and power. It features some awesome suspension, with a single hydraulic shock in the front and double hydraulics in the back to make riding across any sort of terrain smooth and stress-free. It can absorb shocks easily, so going off-road is just as doable as city cruising.
It also comes with large 11-inch tyres that are 4 inches wide. There aren’t many scooters out there that can claim the same, and as a result, you’ll feel balanced and stable at all times. Their sheer size makes for a smooth, floating ride sensation that, when combined with the VSETT’s acceleration, delivers a truly premium experience. Plus, they’re pneumatic too, so in addition to keeping you steady, they also help absorb vibrations alongside the suspension.
The 11+ has been designed for multi-purpose riding, and it’s durable enough to withstand varying riding conditions, both on and off-road. It features a skeletal double-stem design which is similar to that of the Wolf Warrior and helps with stability, whilst its durable aluminium frame is strong enough to support riders up 150 kg, even when riding at the most extreme speeds. Its spacious deck also has 8 inches of clearance, preventing the scooter from bottoming out and allowing you to indulge in jumps or bunny hops when out on the trail.
Thanks to its many lights it also takes the stress out of nighttime riding. It features a giant bright headlight capable of carving through even the darkest of streets, whilst in the rear, you’ll find taillights and flashing brake lights. Even better, it boasts integrated turn signals which are vital on a scooter with this much power but many brands don’t include them as standard. The only thing to be aware of when riding over bumpy terrain is that the headlight will bounce up and down, on smooth terrain this isn’t an issue.
The 11+ also comes fitted with an LED display to help you track your ride stats, but my favourite part of the cockpit is the small NFC card reader underneath the control panel. This is an innovative security feature that means the scooter won’t move until it’s been unlocked with the small access card. Simply press the power button, swipe your card, and you’re away. This is a great deterrent for theft.
Saying that it’s so heavy, thieves might not be able to lift it in the first place. It weighs a whopping 58 kg, which is heavier than the Wolf Warrior. It’s still lighter than the Dualtron X and X2, but regardless, I wouldn’t recommend trying to carry it.
When comparing the VSETT 11+ against the slightly pricier Wolf Warrior, it presents awesome value considering the sweet performance on offer. It combines speed, power, and range effortlessly to create a machine that will get your adrenaline pumping as soon as you set foot on it. This is definitely a winner for bold riders who like to challenge the status quo. Plus, its closest contender for range is the Dualtron X 2, and that costs more than double the 11+, coming in at £5,599.
Best 55-60 MPH Scooter:
Zero 11X
The Zero 11X is one formidable scooter and it thrives on bringing more to your riding experience. More speed, more range, more fun… the Zero 11X is an excellent addition to the extreme electric scooter class. Plus, its multi-functional features mean that you can take it both on and off-road with ease.

Forged from aviation-grade aluminium alloy, the entire frame of the 11X is reinforced to provide the maximum durability for riders up to 150 kg. This means that even heavier riders can get in on the sheer power this monster has to offer.
It’s not just speed that the 11X delivers on either. For any of you that like to take long, winding trips, urban or off-road, the 11X has more than enough juice to keep you going. It comes fitted with a massive 72V 32Ah LG battery that will allow you to travel for up to 90 miles in eco mode. More aggressive riders will experience less than this, but in reality, you can expect to see at least the same mileage as that of the Wolf Warrior, making for hours of ride time.
If you’re going to be making the most of this hefty range, you’ll be pleased to know that you’ll be able to do it in comfort. Thanks to its superior dual spring suspension, the 11X can propel you at top speeds whilst still protecting you from obstacles of all sizes for a thrilling but enjoyable ride. It hits the sweet spot between too soft and overly stiff, keeping you grounded even when inching up towards 60 mph.
In addition to this, the 11X is fitted with large 11-inch pneumatic tyres that help to eat up those smaller shocks so the suspension can focus on the larger ones. They sport a multi-purpose tread, featuring a texture that sits between road-ready slickness and the knobbier pattern of off-road tyres. This means that you can ride this scooter practically anywhere, alternating between urban paths and forest trails with ease. However, if you are primarily an off-road rider, I’d recommend purchasing specialized tyres for extra grip and traction.
As I’ve mentioned before, brakes are one of the most important components of a high-speed scooter so you need to make sure they’re up to the task of slowing you down safely. The high-performance hydraulic brakes on the 11X are more than up to this task. These are the best you can get, delivering faultless stopping power that is consistent and reliable.
On the theme of safety, the 11X also has you covered if you’re the kind of rider that likes to venture out after dark. It’s equipped with two huge headlights that are exceptionally bright. These are low-mounted however, so if you prefer your lights higher up, you might need to purchase additional illumination. In the rear, you’ll also find taillights and brake lights to boost your visibility for other road users.
As with all high-performance scooters, the 11X is a hefty scooter, weighing an eye-watering 59.4 kg. This makes it near impossible to carry on your own – you’ll need help if you want to lift it.
The Zero 11X is any scooter enthusiast’s dream and its incredible top speed of 62 mph means it’s bound to sit quite high on any speed fiend’s wishlist. It delivers on multiple fronts, offering robust safety measures, an extensive range, and premium rider comfort. At £3,013, it’s more expensive than the Wolf Warrior and the VSETT 11+, but it’s far more affordable than the Dualtron X or Storm, both of which boast similar specs.

Let’s start with the good stuff: speed and power. Like any scooter wearing the Dualtron name, the Storm brings the goods. Its dual motors have a combined output of 6640W, translating into a phenomenal top speed of 62 mph. Its motor design is slightly different from that of its sibling scooters, but like many new elements of this scooter, that only works to its favour, giving it much stronger torque and a pulse-quickening acceleration rate.
This extra power will be especially useful if you live in a hilly environment — the Storm eats inclines for breakfast, snacking on slopes with a 35% grade. When taking on steep gradients, most scooters will go into overdrive trying to maintain their speed which, needless to say, isn’t great for your motors. However, the Storm comes with specialist heat sinks in the rear, alongside a waterproof controller, for optimum motor performance no matter where you’re riding.
When you need to bring yourself back down from the Storm’s heady adrenaline-filled heights, you can rely on its excellent hydraulic brakes to slow you down and bring you to a stop smoothly and reliably. It also comes fitted with ABS, however, this isn’t to everyone’s tastes so you can turn it off if you prefer to ride without it.
There’s no doubt that the Storm is worthy of the Dualtron name, living up to the brand’s reputation for insane speed and power, but as I mentioned, it has one design feature that makes it a much more practical option: its detachable battery.
This is a game-changer for heavy scooters like this one. The Storm weighs 45.8 kg which will be a big drawback for many but with the detachable battery, you won’t need to lug the whole scooter to a socket. Instead, unlock the deck’s battery with the key, pop the unit out using the integrated handles, and then secure your scooter before heading off to find power.
When you’ve hit full charge (there’s an indicator on the outside of the battery casing), reverse the process and lock the battery firmly back inside the deck. It might be a bit tricky arranging all the wires and making sure they’re tucked in, but once you’ve done it a few times, it should be easy to get the hang of.
This innovative new feature doesn’t mean that you have to settle for a smaller or less efficient battery either. The Storm is equipped with a 72V unit containing LG cells, making it one of the best battery options on the market. This allows you to travel between 68 and 80 miles on a single charge – depending on how aggressively you ride.
The Storm delivers excellent ride quality — vital for those extra-long outings. It features large 11-inch pneumatic tyres that are perfect for shock absorption and enhanced balanced. Their tread is fairly slick so will perform best when zipping along flat roads at high speeds, but they’ll still be able to generate a good amount of traction if you’re caught in unexpected rain.
Dualtron has stuck with the tried and tested rubber suspension you’ll find on most of their models. This system is awesome if you’re the kind of rider that likes to switch between different terrains as it operates around five changeable rubber cartridges. These range from soft to hard, with everything else in between, so you can select the level that’s right for you. This isn’t the only familiar feature. Dualtron loyalists will notice that the Storm comes with the brand’s trademark EYE controller, allowing you to monitor your ride data.
Dualtron is mindful of keeping their riders safe and has made sure to incorporate a ton of lighting for nighttime riding. This includes an incredibly bright LED headlight, dual rear lights, and some pretty cool deck effects. Additionally, the Storm is fitted with additional hazards and turn signals, making sure you’re extra safe when riding in the dark. If other road-users still somehow fail to see you coming, you can give them a blast of the Storm’s incredibly loud horn.
The Dualtron Storm is the perfect example of how scooter brands are beginning to think about the ways they can ally power and performance with practical convenience. When it comes to speed and power, there’s only one real winner if you’re looking for the biggest and baddest electric scooter. The Dualtron X 2 is the newest model in the Dualtron range and is unparalleled in terms of acceleration, torque, and raw potential, leaving all other scooters quivering in its beastly wake.
This scooter is the crowning glory of the Dualtron range, displacing the X, from the top spot. However, much of the X 2’s best features have been inherited from its younger sibling, with a few tweaks designed to further test the boundaries of electric scooter engineering.
The most notable difference between them is that the X 2 offers an increased top speed of 68 mph, thanks to its massive motors which are capable of putting out an astounding 8300W of raw power. This means that the X 2 possesses unbelievably rapid acceleration and maximum torque, making for an adrenaline-filled ride every time you let loose on the throttle. It’s hard to grasp just how aggressive this scooter is — you need to try it to experience it.
Unsurprisingly, with this much power on tap, steep slopes bow down before the X 2’s prowess. This beast devours hills, scaling inclines up to 70%. Even the most radical San Francisco streets don’t top 27%. The X 2 would barely register these, streaking to the top with minimal effort. It’s easy to see how you could use this scooter more like a motorcycle given the tremendous power it offers.
When you look at it like that, it’s clear that a robust set of brakes is critical for a machine like this. The X 2’s high-quality hydraulic brakes have you covered. These are highly sensitive and respond to light pressure to give you precise control over your scooter’s speed. I wouldn’t expect anything less from a Dualtron — you’re getting the best in the business here.
If we’re talking about quality, rider comfort is also another area that Dualtron excels at. Just because this scooter’s distinguishing feature is its power, doesn’t mean you need to accept subpar ride quality in exchange. The X 2 is smooth and soft, protecting your joints and keeping you safe at the same time. This is mainly down to its all-new 19-step suspension. This hydraulic system allows you to modify the intensity of your suspension, alternating between soft and stiff for different situations. You’ll never be limited by your terrain — the X 2 will always adapt to your needs.
The X 2’s tyres complement this perfectly. Measuring an enormous 13 inches tall and 4 inches wide, these are the largest tyres I’ve seen on a scooter, and no other scooters, aside from the X, can compare. Their increased contact patch will keep you steady and balanced, whilst their pneumatic tubeless design helps to diffuse road vibrations.
Although their size will make it easy to roll over large obstacles, these tyres do make for an interesting riding sensation that feels similar to floating. You won’t be able to make any sharp, cutting manoeuvres with these, but once you get the hang of their unique handling, they’ll revolutionize your idea of a comfortable ride.
You’ll especially appreciate how plush and smooth the X 2 can be if you’re the kind of rider that likes to stay out for hours at a time. The X 2 makes this possible with its huge LG battery. This allows you to travel for up to 93 miles in one go if you’re riding in Eco mode, although you’ll experience less if you have a more aggressive riding style. This should still be more than enough to satisfy any thrill-seeking cravings you might have.
When you do need to recharge, the X 2 has three charging options. A single standard charger will take 25 hours to hit full battery, using two chargers will take 12 hours, and a fast charger will reduce your waiting time right down to 8 hours.
Although there are a few differences between the X and the X 2, one thing that hasn’t changed is its brutal, beefy exterior. This scooter maintains its aggressively chunky form and tank-like structure, reinforced in all the right places to withstand the extreme speeds and conditions this bad boy will be riding under.
It even comes fitted with a steering damper to make sure you feel extra-stable at all times. Despite looking the same, the X 2 has a higher payload than the X, able to support riders up to 150 kg, which means heavier adults will be able to get in on the fun too.
The X 2 is also just as heavy as its predecessor, weighing a staggering 66 kg. This is the heaviest scooter I’ve ever reviewed and you won’t have an easy time lifting it on your own, even in its folded form. However, with a high-powered performance scooter like this, you’ll likely be spending more time riding it than attempting to carry it. After all, you wouldn’t carry a motorcycle to your destination, and these two are closely related.
Aside from its insane power and torque, there’s one other thing that I particularly like about this scooter and that’s the array of lights you’ll find all over its frame. It comes with a dual-front LED light that’s bright enough to light up the road before you, as well as an illuminated LED stem, side deck lights, bottom ambient lighting (all of which are customizable), and a taillight that also functions as a brake light. It also features turn signals which, in my opinion, are a must on all scooters but are only fitted on a rare few.
The Dualtron X 2 is the most powerful scooter on the market, so unsurprisingly, it’s also the most expensive. It’ll cost you a wallet-punishing £5,599, which sits outside many peoples’ budgets. However, if you’re a serious rider that views your scooter as a way of life rather than a fun added extra, this investment may make sense for you. In exchange, you’re getting the fastest and most outrageous scooter available, capable of tearing up both urban and off-road tracks. There’s nothing else quite like it.

A more affordable, yet blistering fast scooter is the Apollo Pro 60V which has one the fastest ever acceleration curves capable of getting from 0-15 mph in 1.7 seconds, 20 mph in 2.6 seconds, and 30 mph in just 5.3 seconds.

It sounds simple, but a lot of people forget that when you travel up an incline your speed will be negatively affected (depending on the steepness of the incline). Vice versa, if you are going down a slope you’ll be able to reach the max speed.
Terrain:
If you are riding on tarmac, you’re going to be able to travel much faster than if you are riding over a forest trail or rough off-road terrain.
Motor Power / Torque and Acceleration:
The more powerful the motor, the higher speeds you’ll be able to achieve. Bigger and better motors have more power potential so you can go faster.
Torque is how you measure the force of your motors’ rotation. It determines the amount of power your scooter has to play with and is what your acceleration dips into when it pounces off the starting line. A scooter with high torque will mean a faster take-off and quicker acceleration rate.
Battery Power:
Similarly to your motor, the bigger your battery and the more charged it is, the more power it will be able to send to the motor. Think of it like a battery-powered light.
