Maybe you’re a commuter looking to leave the confines of the bike lane, or you’re a rider that’s ready for a more substantial burst of speed than other scooters have offered you. Either way, scooters with a top speed that sits at the 30 mph mark are a great way to bring a little more fun and thrill into your riding experience.
I’ve reviewed a bunch of 30 mph scooters and collected the best together in this article. Here, I’ll examine their speed, acceleration, and torque alongside their other features so you can find the one that’s right for you.
Apollo Explore
The Apollo Explore is the fastest scooter on this list, which means it’s ideal if you want to tip the speed scales over 30 mph. It has excellent build quality and boasts a plush, comfortable ride both on and off-road. As a bonus, Apollo offers a thorough warranty and great post-purchase support if you need it. However, be warned: the Explore is quite heavy so isn’t the most portable scooter.
Dualtron Mini
If you’re looking to venture into the world of high-performance, extreme scooters, the Dualtron Mini is a great place to start. It delivers impressive speed and power as well as guaranteeing rider comfort. It performs best on well-maintained roads but can handle some light off-roading if you want to get a bit adventurous. It’s quite heavy in terms of price and weight though and is best suited for advanced riders.
INOKIM Ox Super
An excellent scooter from INOKIM, the Ox Super has a top speed of 28 mph and delivers when it comes to range, build quality, and design. This is a great option if you want to be able to switch between on and off-road riding. However, it’s the heaviest and most expensive scooter on this list.
EVOLV Tour XL Plus
The EVOLV Tour XL Plus is a scooter that ticks all of the boxes. It has a punchy top speed, an extended range, and excellent ride quality. This is a scooter designed for riders who want ease of use and a premium feel, even if it does come with a few extra kilograms of weight.

Speedway Leger
The Speedway Leger has the pedigree of Mini Motors USA behind it without the punishing price tag often attached to such scooters. With impressive torque and acceleration, this is a scooter that will get your blood thumping. It’s a great option for beginners who want their first scooter to deliver on performance, but without being too extreme.

If you like the idea of owning a dual-motor scooter but aren’t such a big fan of the price tag that accompanies increased power, let me reassure you that all is not lost. The Apollo Explore is the next best thing.
Designed for riders who want to be out on their scooters a lot, the Apollo has the drive to scratch that urban wanderlust itch. It can reach city-friendly speeds of 31 mph, so you’ll easily be able to keep pace with other road users. Its 1000W motor also means that it comes with impressive acceleration that’s fast and responsive, helping you get ahead of the pack when you need to.
This punch of power is also helpful if you live in a hilly area. The combined might of the motor’s 1400W peak output and 52V 18.2Ah battery allows you to tackle slopes with a 20% grade and can even maintain performance while supporting riders up to the maximum weight limit of 120 kg.
The battery isn’t only good for maintaining top performance — it’s also responsible for the Explore’s impressive top range of 34 miles. This is an excellent mileage for the Explore’s price point and makes long-range rides accessible for those on a tighter budget. The Dynavolt cells used in the Explore’s battery are very reliable and have been shown to perform as well as those manufactured by LG. If you’ve never heard of Dynavolt before, that’s because they’re most often used to power motorcycles.
The Explore comes with a standard charger included, which, unfortunately, allows for a total recharge in around 8 hours. However, fast chargers are available to purchase at an additional price and will reduce the time down to a very speedy 4 hours.
If you’re going to be out and about on your scooter all day, ride quality is key to making your explorations fun and comfortable. Don’t worry — Apollo has you covered. This scooter features a wide anti-slip deck so you won’t have to contort yourself into any awkward stances. It’s also big enough for the detachable seat if you choose to purchase it as a separate accessory.
Featuring plush, 10” pneumatic tyres the Explore is perfect for rolling over potholes or other road obstacles. The tyres also well-suited for a variety of terrain. The Explore might be marketed towards city riders, but the increased traction on the tyres makes it suitable for light off-roading too. The tread isn’t specifically designed for off-road adventures but can handle more than just your average road.
The suspension on the Explore helps out here too. It comes with dual spring shock absorbers that can deal with most obstacles including large potholes and give the scooter excellent flexibility when it comes to dealing with different terrains.
Apollo takes safety very seriously, which is why the Explore is outfitted with dual disc brakes as well as a regenerative electric brake. The disc brakes provide excellent stopping power to both wheels, whilst the regen brake slows the motor. This means you have complete control over when you stop. It’s an excellent braking system for this scooter’s price tag.
The Explore also has a ton of impressive lighting that delivers spaceship-like illumination. It comes with front and rear headlights, as well as under-deck lighting and an LED light strip on the stem.
Your lights can be operated from the cockpit, which also features a trigger throttle and bell alongside an integrated LCD display that shows your speed and battery level. The display can be used for much more than just monitoring performance, though. You can customize the scooter to your preferences by switching between measurement units as well as deciding whether you want the Explore to have instant acceleration or operate as a kick-and-go scooter.
You can even turn cruise control on for those days when you want to give your throttle finger a break and enjoy a relaxing ride.
For all its many positives, there’s just one downside to the Explore: its weight. When folded, it’s extremely compact thanks to the foldable handlebars, telescopic stem, and collapsible neck, but it still weighs 23.6 kg. This means that you can store it easily, but lifting it can be a challenge. However, if you’re going to be doing more riding than carrying, this shouldn’t be a problem.
As the name implies, this scooter is ideal for urban explorers and that’s exactly who it’s been designed for. The build quality and IP54 water-resistant rating are ideal for long-range city rides come rain or shine, giving you the freedom to go wherever and whenever you want. For £1,145, this scooter is excellent value for money, especially when you consider the wide range of premium features on offer, alongside the power and speed it has to offer. Plus, Apollo is one of the best scooter brands and offers a long warranty and excellent customer support for peace of mind after you take the Explore home.
Manufactured by Mini Motors USA, Dualtron scooters are known for being the beastliest scooters on the market. This is why they often cost so much and why they’re reserved for experienced users only. However, the Dualtron Mini is the cheapest in the range and a great place to start if you’re looking to branch out into high-performance scooters.
Dualtron scooters offer extreme speed and with a maximum pace of 32 mph, the Mini sits at the ideal junction between knock-your-socks off fast and urban practicality. It might only be a single motor model, but it’s still very quick, boasting a maximum output of 1450W. This means acceleration is very speedy and smooth too. It’s also adjustable and you can use the EYE controller on the handlebar to choose which strength of acceleration you prefer. This is especially handy when testing the Mini against hill climbs. With maximum power behind it, it can deal with slopes of 37%.
The Mini also features 3 different riding modes, each with their own speed limitations. Mode 1 is the slowest setting, with the third riding tier allowing you to access faster speeds. The lowest setting is ideal if you like to ride more conservatively to preserve and extend your battery life. This might be the case if you have a long commute or like to take full-day road trips.
Speaking of the battery, the Mini offers a top range of 34 miles thanks to the top-quality LG cells. This means it can handle a variety of riding styles and still have a good amount of battery left over. It comes with a standard charger included but takes around 10 hours for a full recharge. This is on the long side, so if you want to cut this down, I’d advise you to invest in the fast charger. This only takes 2 hours to fully top up the Mini’s battery.
The Mini’s aviation-grade aluminium frame channels the classic Dualtron chunky aesthetic, making it very robust. This is important if you’re going to be riding at high speeds — you don’t want to feel unbalanced. Its deck is wide enough for you to stand with both feet together, but be aware it’s a little shorter than normal decks. This isn’t too much a problem once you get used to it though. It can still support riders of up to 100 kg and it doesn’t take away from rider comfort.
The ride quality on the Mini is buttery-smooth thanks to the 9” pneumatic tyres. These are great for cushioning against road obstacles but they also provide good grip on a variety of surfaces. The dual spring shocks in both the front and rear protect your joints and can handle harsh impacts. Thanks to this, the Mini can deal with some light off-roading if you feel inclined to venture off-piste.
One aspect of the scooter’s design to be aware of is that it only features single wheel braking, with a drum brake located on the rear wheel. On paper, this doesn’t seem like it would be enough to provide good braking power but combined with the electronic brake, it’s more than sufficient to bring you to a controlled stop. Plus, drum brakes are well-known for being very low maintenance, so you won’t need to spend ages tuning it up. The Mini also comes with ABS (anti-lock braking system) but this can be disabled if you prefer to ride without it.
At 21.8 kg, the Mini isn’t what I’d call a lightweight scooter, but it is when you compare it against its monstrous siblings in the Dualtron range. It has a very strong folding mechanism that easily allows you to collapse it for storage but the handlebars are quite wide, so you might have to do some creative manoeuvring to get it into tighter spaces.
The Mini isn’t all business — although it’s a serious scooter for serious riders. There are some fun extras in there too, like the addition of a remote that allows you to change the colour and pattern of the LED lighting on the stem and body of the scooter. When it’s fully lit, the Mini looks like a roving disco ball.
As mentioned, this scooter comes with the Mini Motors standard EYE throttle and controller combo. The finger throttle can be a little uncomfortable if you’re riding for a long time but thankfully the cruise control feature means you can give yourself a break when riding at a constant speed. The Mini is also compatible with the Mini Motors fingerprint lock, however, you’ll need to purchase this at an extra cost.
This isn’t a cheap scooter and costs £1,050, but it is the cheapest way to experience the high-performance world Dualtron has to offer. It’s not for the casual beginner, but it’s an ideal introduction for someone looking to dip their toe in the extreme scooter pool. It packs a lot of power for its size and delivers a comfortable and versatile ride with an adrenaline-pumping edge.
If you’ve got a little extra budget to spend and you’re after a slightly slicker profile than offered by the beefiness of the Dualtron Mini, take a look at the INOKIM Ox Super. It’s got a ton of strengths that make it a great option no matter what riding style you have.
INOKIM Ox Deep Dive | Is it Worth the Price Tag?

The Ox Super has a top speed of 28 mph, which makes it especially versatile for city riding. You can choose to blend into the bike lane or peel away into faster traffic if you need to. The 800W motor has a peak output of 1300W which gives it some real power for tackling inclines, however, the acceleration isn’t as rapid as other models featured in this list. It’s by no means slow, but the uptake isn’t quite as rapid as you’ll see on the Explore or Mini.
Where the Ox Super stands out is its design. This is something that can be said of all INOKIM scooters, thanks to a brand-wide reputation for attention to detail and very high standards. If you’re buying an INOKIM scooter, you know you’re buying quality. However, this does come at a price, which is why the Ox Super is the most expensive scooter on this list, retailing at £1,398.99. This is quite steep but if you value brand reputation and faultless design, you might consider the trade-off worth it.
One indicator of the Ox Super’s quality is the fact that it comes with top-performing LG batteries. These are some of the best batteries money can buy, and they deliver a top range of 33 miles. This is perfect if you have a long commute or you’re just planning to spend a lot of time on your scooter. However, because of the bigger batteries, the recharge time on the Ox Super comes in at a punishing 10-12 hours, which is quite a wait.
If range isn’t so important to you, and you’d like to bring the price down a notch, take a look at the INOKIM Ox Hero. This has a lower mileage of 22 miles but will save you a bit of money since it doesn’t come with LG batteries, opting for a cheaper alternative instead. It’s 1.8 kg lighter than the Super too, which is a bonus.
The Ox Super delivers a smooth ride quality and plush comfort thanks to its 10” pneumatic tyres. Their large size gives good ground clearance whilst their 2.5” width keeps you feeling balanced.
The tyres work together with the dual adjustable rubber suspension to absorb hard shocks from the road. You can alter the suspension depending on the type of ride you want. The lower setting is perfect for achieving optimum stability when riding at top speeds whereas the higher option gives greater clearance when venturing off-road. Either way, the Ox Super is equipped to deal with a variety of terrain.
The brakes are also strong enough to bring you to a stop whenever you need them to. Featuring a front drum and rear disc brake, the Ox Super has strong and responsive braking power that’ll kick in with the slightest pressure on the lever. It’s nothing less than I’d expect from a brand like INOKIM.
Like all good electric scooters, the Ox comes with front and rear LED lights that make you visible when riding in the dark. This is a great safety feature, however, I’d recommend purchasing additional lighting to increase how far ahead you can see at night. You can operate your lights from the cockpit, which has a mounted display centre and an ergonomic thumb throttle.
At 27.7 kg, the INOKIM Ox Super is the heaviest scooter on this list. It’s too heavy to be considered truly portable and despite having a 5-second folding mechanism, it isn’t easy to lift. If you want something to take onto public transport or you’re going to need to carry it up several flights of stairs, the Ox Super isn’t the scooter for you.
Thanks to the slick black and orange exterior, the INOKIM Ox Super is instantly recognizable and shows off an effortlessly stylish profile. It’ll appeal to riders who want the speed and power but prefer a more minimalistic and pared-back look. It features a subtly branded, anti-slip foot deck that is very spacious and can support riders of up to 120 kg.
There’s no question that the Ox Super is an excellent scooter; it’s just as good cruising along city paths as it is surfing mountain trails. Whether you’ve got a long commute or want to get off the beaten track, this scooter can deliver. INOKIM is one of the best brands out there and the Ox Super lives up to its reputation, but it is a bit pricey. If you’re not too bothered about the INOKIM brand pedigree, you might want to consider something like the Apollo Explore.

If you’re looking at buying your first electric scooter you want a good all-rounder that can deliver on all fronts. There a few scooters like this out there, but the EVOLV Tour XL Plus is one of the best.
When it comes to speed, the Tour XL Plus can easily keep up with the likes of the INOKIM Ox Super, hitting a maximum speed of 28 mph. This is a great speed for urban riding since you can switch between the bike lane and faster roads easily. This is especially true of the XL Plus because of its great torque and zippy acceleration. This scooter won’t let you down if you need to pull away in a hurry. This is thanks to the 600W motor and its peak output of 1200W. With this kind of power behind you, you’ll have no problem tackling challenging hills.
With the larger than average grip-tape-covered deck, the scooter can support a range of rider sizes (up to 120 kg) without forcing anyone to compromise on comfort. It’s also a very sturdy and well-built scooter than feels supportive and robust and to top it off, it comes with a water-resistant rating of IP56 too, so can withstand light rain and puddles.
Speaking of rider comfort, the XL Plus rides like a dream. It’s 10” pneumatic tyres grip the road nicely and roll over potholes or obstacles, whilst the front and rear spring suspension provides great shock absorption. Having said that, the suspension is on the stiffer side, so it won’t perform as well as on rough terrain. If you want the best from this scooter, I’d stick to city roads.
A standout feature of the XL Plus is without a doubt its braking setup. It features both front and rear disc brakes that deliver excellent stopping power from top speeds. In case you didn’t know, disc brakes are one of the most efficient braking options out there and they’re extremely responsive. Having one of these positioned on each wheel means you’ll never have to worry about your ability to come to a stop. The XL Plus also comes with an electric regenerative brake, which helps to slow the motor down and preserve power for extended battery life. The regen brake has five grades of braking strength, and you can choose the setting that best suits you from the LCD display on the handlebars.
Part of what makes the XL Plus so versatile is its long range of 31 miles (when ridden conservatively). Its battery consists of LG cells so you can rest assured knowing that the power source behind your scooter is of the highest pedigree. When you come to recharging, expect to wait between 6-9 hours for a full battery boost.
If an extended range isn’t something you need, make sure to check out the EVOVL Tour XL (LG 48V 13 ah). It has a slightly reduced mileage of 25 miles and is on the lighter side.
The XL Plus’s cockpit is clean and simple. Alongside the LCD display, you’ll find a horn to alert others to your presence as well as the finger throttle and buttons for operating the lights. This scooter is quite well-lit, featuring a front and rear light as well as acrylic tube lighting along the length of the deck. Unlike other scooters, it’s these deck lights that will blink when you brake.
As the name hints, the XL Plus is not a light scooter. It weighs 23 kg, which is too heavy for easy lifting and carrying. On the upside, though, thanks to the foldable handlebars, when collapsed it’s very compact for easy storage. The folding mechanism is also very strong so you won’t experience any wobbling in the stem when you ride.
With its black, silver, and grey exterior, the Tour XL Plus channels a sense of urban cool. It’s reassuringly robust and the excellent build quality means it’s very sturdy whilst also being a comfortable ride. It’s not the cheapest scooter on the list and it offers lower performance stats than the Apollo Explore and Dualtron Mini, but it’s perfect if you want something with a premium feel that priorities reliability and quality.
Although they’re the more infamous of the two, Mini Motors don’t only make Dualtron Scooters. Their second range, Speedway, is a bit cheaper and not as extreme as its monstrous cousin. What makes them so attractive is that they still have the pedigree of a Mini Motors scooter but they’re way more beginner-friendly.
The Speedway Leger comes equipped with a 1360W high torque motor. This is great for any speed fiends out there because not only does it allow you to hit a top speed of 28 mph, but it’s also great for getting ahead of the pack and pulling away quickly. Once you set off, the rapid acceleration on this scooter will see you soaring up towards the upper boundary of the Leger’s speed capacity.
The torque and acceleration will also come in handy when you find yourself facing a challenging hill climb. Luckily for you, the powerful motor means you’ll be able to best slopes of up to 27%. Even riders at the top of the 120 kg load limit will be impressed by the Leger’s ability to maintain a good speed on these kinds of inclines.
Along with impressive speed and power, the Leger claims to have a top range of 30 miles, although you won’t experience the full mileage if you plan to ride in the most aggressive settings consistently. However, you won’t be far off thanks to the top quality Panasonic battery cells that the Leger comes with. These rank alongside LG as some of the best and they only take 6 hours to recharge.
At 20.4 kg, the Leger isn’t a light scooter, but if you’re a fan of the Mini Motors name, it’s a more lightweight alternative to the Speedway 5 or Dualtron scooters. Plus, when the handlebars are folded and the stem is collapsed, it reduces down to a reasonably compact size for such a powerful scooter.
Mini Motors is a high-quality brand, so it’s no surprise that the ride quality on the Leger is smooth and comfortable. This is thanks to the 8.5” pneumatic tyres and front and rear spring suspension. Together, they work to cushion you from harsh impacts, so you can concentrate on the ride rather than weaving around obstacles in front of you. However, potholes can be a bit jerky.
Speedway scooters have a lot of power under their belts, so it’s important to have a good braking system to allow maximum control. The Leger comes with a rear drum and electric regenerative brake to bring you to a controlled stop. Drum brakes aren’t my braking mechanism of choice, and other scooters in this list have more powerful brakes, however, they are strong enough and are perfect for beginners because they’re very low maintenance. This scooter also has ABS (anti-lock braking system), but you can disable this from the control display.
In the same vein of safety, the Leger features front and rear lights to make you visible in the dark. It also has a sidelight that projects in the shape of the Speedway Logo. This doesn’t do much for illuminating the path ahead, but it is a fun feature that increases your visibility. All of the lights can be operated from the cockpit, where you can find the Leger’s instrument panel. From here, you have complete visibility over your scooter’s riding stats, including your speed, ride time, brake power, and cruise mode.
With a price tag of £950, the Speedway Leger makes for a great first scooter, but it’s also perfect for anyone who wants a taste of what the Speedway range has to offer but doesn’t want to pay the extra £650 for the advanced models like the Speedway 5. Not only does it have a decent set of stats but its excellent build quality and sturdy aluminium alloy frame mean you’ll always feel safe and confident when riding.
